This week 16 match-up will see the Detroit Lions take on the Denver Broncos. Both teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention and neither team can have a winning season. Thus making this game more about playing for a better draft pick.
Detroit Lions
The Lions have obviously had a poor season and it does not help that their quarterback, Matthew Stafford and their backup quarterback, Jeff Driskel are out with injuries. Since their third string, David Blough, started that game on Thanksgiving and looked decent, he has been the opposite since. As a starter for the Lions, he is 0-3. The Lions however, have not won a game since the end of October, giving them a seven-game losing streak.
Despite being a top 10 passing team, the Detroit offense continues to struggle at scoring. During their seven-game losing streak, the Lions have scored an average of 17.7 points per game. Since David Blough has been the quarterback, the Lions have scored an average of 14.7 points per game.

The defense for Detroit has also been terrible pretty much all year. They allow 401.9 total yards per game, ranking 31st in this category. When defending the pass, the Lions allow 288.6 yards per game, the 31st ranked pass defense.
As for rush defense, they sit right around the middle of the pack, allowing 113.2 yards per game. Their scoring defense is not good either, as they allow an average of 26.6 points per game. It has pretty much stayed consistent as they allow 26.7 points per game during their losing streak and 27.3 points per game in games where Blough has started.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos got crushed in the snow last week by the Kansas City Chiefs. The final score to this game was 23-3. For the first time in his career, Drew Lock looked totally lost. However, this could have been because of the horrible weather conditions. Nonetheless, Lock still looks like the future for the Broncos.
Denver was basically shut down all game long as they only managed 251 yards of offense. As mentioned, Drew Lock did not play well, going 18 of 40 for 208 yards an one interception. After this performance, the Broncos remain as one of the worst passing teams in the NFL. They run the ball decently well, but overall their offense is nothing special.
Now even though they got crushed, the defense deserves a little credit for hold Kansas City to 23 points. Again, probably had to do with the snow, but the Broncos forced four field goals.
Denver still has a decent defense despite that performance, ranking 13th in total yards allowed per game, 10th in passing yards allowed per game, 20th in rushing yards allowed per game and 10th in points allowed per game.
Knowing that Matthew Stafford is likely not going to play should give them a ton of confidence in pressuring Blough. If they can force any type of turnover, look for Denver to win this game without much trouble.
