Neither of these teams are any good but it says a lot about the state of the Cardinals that they are home dogs to another team that is not expected to compete.
One of these teams will be 1-0 though and that might be the only time that either has a winning record this season. Seems like there could be some easy money here.
Detroit Lions
It is going to be hard for the Lions to be thinking that they have bridged the gap with the other teams in their division but they can take things one game at a time.

Matt Stafford has now been there a long time but the performances have been up and down. The collection of skill players he has around him is average at best. Since Calvin Johnson they have been light there.
Defense is coach Matt Patricia’s specialty and that unit is probably a bit better than the O right now. You can bet Patricia will do everything he can to make it tough for a rookie QB in his first NFL start.
Like in New England Patricia does not have elite talent but he mixes things up and makes sure people are in spot where they can do their job well.

A win to start the season is always a boon and it looks like Detroit will get one.
Arizona Cardinals
Arizona made a splash in the offseason with the hiring of Kliff Kingsbury and the drafting Kyler or Murray. For better or worse they are stuck with that duo for the next three years.
Murray is an intriguing talent and they seem to be willing to cater to his strengths. If they figure out a formula they should be able to move the ball.
David Johnson was one of the best weapons in the league just a few seasons ago. Injuries really knocked him down and they need him to get back to being a productive player.
At Texas Tech Kingsbury could never get enough defense to win at a high rate. That side of the ball has question marks though they have some vets that can get after the quarterback in Terrell Suggs and Chandler Jones.
Patrick Peterson is suspended for this one and that hurts. This team is not going to win a lot of games without their roster at full strength and availability.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Detroit -2.5
I am not high on either of these teams but Patricia and the Lions should be a little more set in what they want to do.
NFL Free Week 1 Score Prediction: Detroit 28 – Arizona 21
Murray will put up some numbers and make us gasp on a run but they will come up short. More of a fantasy threat than winner right now and I am not sold on Kingsbury to manage a game.
