There is no doubt that KC is the best team in the AFC West. After that, it is a little harder to get a handle on.
Vegas has the next best record but only a couple of games separate these teams. I have to admit in my mind I thought Denver had just one win.
The Raiders can really separate themselves with a win this week.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos are a team that is a little tough to size up. I know they aren’t good but they are definitely not in the awful category. They just might be a sum of solid mismatched parts.
One of those key parts is QB Drew Lock. He misses some time earlier in the season and has been up and down since returning to the lineup. He is missing some key weapons though.
Rookie Jerry Jeudy has looked good when he has been on the field this season. He is the team’s leading receiver and his shiftiness makes him very hard to cover.
Malik Reed is in his second year and had a couple of sacks a year ago. This season he has produced 5, easing the challenge of playing without team leader Von Miller.
Denver appears to be in the tier of teams where they can hang with anybody but are operating with a super thin margin for error.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have won back to back road games. That is something that good teams do so maybe there is more to this team than meets the eye.
People love to bang on Derek Carr but he is having his best season in the NFL. Ironically it is not because Jeudy’s Alabama teammate Henry Ruggs has unlocked the offense with his speed. He has not been much of a factor due to health.
The Raiders are more ball control with Josh Jacobs running the ball and Darren Waller catching short passes at TE. They have been content to be more efficient than explosive this season.
The defense has been adequate in support and I think that is why the Raiders do not get a lot of love. There is just no part of the team that is exceptional.
They are home favourites here though but home field has not been kind in their new digs. They are just 1-2 in Vegas this season.

I am a little gun shy here. I like Vegas to win but would love this one a lot more at -3 because I am not seeing a dominant performance. Vegas does not have the better defense and their offense has been inconsistent. One thing they don’t do is make mistakes though. Provided they can keep that up they can get a win without too much drama.
