The Redskins held on against Carolina to get into first-place in the NFC East. The two teams meet for the first time on Sunday in DC.
Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott didn’t put up eye-popping numbers on Sunday but he played his best game in the 40–7 trouncing of Jacksonville.
Prescott threw for 183 yards and and two touchdowns on good efficiency. He also ran for over eight yards and a third touchdown. Ezekiel Elliott 106 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.

Of course, Prescott’s job was made a lot easier by the stellar play of Dallas’ defense, which sacked Blake Bortles three times and picked him off once. Jacksonville didn’t score in the first half and hardly even controlled the ball.
That, and Prescott’s keen decision-making kept the ‘Boys’ offense on the field for a long time and wore down Jacksonville’s defense.
After a two-point win and a three-point loss, it was nice to win one going way for Jason Garrett and his staff. That doesn’t feel like a possibility on Sunday when Dallas takes on the ‘Skins for at least a share of first-place on the line.
Washington Redskins
Alex Smith missed 17 of his 36 pass attempts but, in typical fashion, he didn’t throw a pick and kept the offense moving. Adrian Peterson rushed the ball 17 times for 97 yards despite a laundry list of injuries.
Speaking of injuries, though, neither Jamison Crowder nor Chris Thompson played on Sunday, which helps explain why Smith couldn’t even crack 200 yards.

Both of those guys were hurt in Washington’s Monday night loss to New Orleans, Crowder with an ankle and Thompson with ribs. They both practiced lightly throughout the week and were questionable going into Saturday.
They were both hurt enough to miss the last game so the assumption should remain that they are hurt badly but the fact that both were questionable and took the game off should provide some hope they’ll play in this game. The ‘Skins will need all the offensive help they can get going up against a hot Dallas defense.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Dallas +1.5
To me, the obvious play was the Redskins because they’ve looked good this year, better than Dallas, and are at home. But Dallas’ defense impressed me last week and the offense shouldn’t be intimidated going up against Washington’s defense. I’m going to go against my initial gut and take the underdogs.
