We got an NFC East showdown on our hands Sunday night with the Dallas Cowboys traveling down to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in a prime time game. Both these teams come into this game with two win, and because their division is so terrible, the winner will likely come out of Philly with the division lead.
The Cowboys have been a train wreck this season and that is putting things mildly. First of all, they were not a good team this season when Dak Prescott was under center. Especially on the defensive side of the ball as they allowed teams to torch them left and right. When Prescott went down, Andy Dalton stepped in as the backup and things looked like they just might be okay. Dalton is a veteran and is not the worst backup you could ask for. That quickly changed in Dalton’s first start for the Cowboys. This was a loss to Arizona in week 6. The score in that game was 38-10.
Things got even worse this past week as the Cowboys lost to Washington 25-3. Dalton got hurt in this game as well, so now they are down to their third string. Ezekiel Elliott is not playing well either an all of a sudden cannot seem to hold on to the ball. It is almost like Dallas has completely given up ever since Prescott went down.
I already mentioned how bad the defense is, but they are dead last in points allowed, giving up 34.7 per game. Even against a below average Eagles team, I expect Dallas to be torched.
Philadelphia picked up a win in at home against the Giants last Thursday, which means they should have ample time to prepare for this division rivalry game. The Eagles still cut it extremely close, winning 22-21 against the Giants.
Carson Wentz had 359 yards passing in this game with two touchdowns. He did throw a pick, but I expect that to be cleaned up before this Prime Time game. The Eagles failed to establish a real run game against New York, but again, the Giants’ defense is probably much better than Dallas’ at this point.
Defensively, the Eagles allowed the Giants 375 total yards. Just 187 yards passing for Daniel Jones, but 160 yards allowed on the ground is a slight concern. Philadelphia was able to force three turnovers, something I believe they will be able to do against Dallas.
The Eagles do rank 22nd in the NFL in points allowed per game, giving up an average of 28. Though with a third string quarterback potentially, I do not see the Eagles having many issues.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Dallas are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games.
- The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Dallas’ last 5 games when playing on the road against Philadelphia.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Under 43.5
The Philly offense seems to be hit or miss, but against a poor Dallas’ defense, they are going to score. Dallas on the other hand, will not likely crack 20 points, so I am going to back the under here in this game.
