The Cleveland Browns are playing some of the best football in the AFC but they run into a fierce division rival off to an even better start.
Pittsburgh stayed unbeaten after its unexpected bye week with a win and cover over the Eagles on Sunday.
The Steel Curtain opened as 4.5-point favorites, which the public quickly bet down to 3.5. The total has crept up over fifty.
Since losing at Baltimore in Week 1, Cleveland has ripped off four consecutive victories over Cincinnati, Washington, Dallas and Indianapolis.
It will take a full head of steam into Sunday’s showdown at Heinz Field.
The offense has been awesome. It put up six point in a listless performance against the Ravens. Since then, Baker Mayfield and the Browns have put up 150 points in four games (37.5 points per game).
The defense shined last Sunday, though. Not only did it score on an interception at around midfield by safety Ronnie Harrison, it held the Colts to twenty-three points. What’s more, seven of those points came on a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Myles Garrett sacked a quarterback for the fourth week in a row, giving him six on the year. If Cleveland is to hang around in this one, the defense must be up to the challenge.
Stopping Pittsburgh, though, has been getting more difficult each week.
The Steelers scored twenty-six points in a Week 1 victory over the Giants and have scored even more in each week since then.
Rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool had a career day in a thirty-eight-point offensive explosion on Sunday against Philadelphia. He ran for the first score of the day and caught three touchdowns after that, finishing with 110 yards on seven catches.
James Connor wasn’t explosive running the ball but forced the defense to respect the running game. He scored a short touchdown for the third consecutive week.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Pittsburgh to cover.
With all the attention on Cleveland, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to wait and see if the three-point spread loses the hook.
But at the end of the day, I like Pittsburgh, which should impose its will on defense.
If Cleveland gets down early, it will be trouble. The Steelers win this one by a touchdown.
