Sunday Night Football will be a NFC North rivalry as the Packers host the Bears. Green Bay still holds a lead in the division, but if the Bears manage to win this game, they will be within reach.
Both teams are going through some struggles, so this looks to be a bounce back spot for either side.
Chicago Bears
The Bears had a much needed bye week in week 11 after they had lost four games in a row. Yes, the Bears were once 5-1, but have crashed down big time. Their last win was against the Carolina Panthers, a team they beat 23-16 back in week 6. Their playoff hopes are starting to get smaller and smaller, which basically makes this a must win game. They most recently lost to the Minnesota Vikings in week 10, a game that was played on a Monday Night.
The Bears’ offense did not even score a touchdown against the Vikings, with their only touchdown coming as a kickoff return. They mustered 149 yards of total offense, and Nick Foles threw for just 106 yards. Their rushing offense went for 41 yards total with their leading rusher having 30 of those yards. The Bears now rank 31st in total offense, 25th in passing offense and 32nd in rushing offense. They only score 19.1 points per game as well, the second worst scoring offense in the league.
The Bears’ defense still remains pretty good, holding that Minnesota team to just 19 points. They did allow 385 total yards, but just 99 yards on the ground. Dalvin Cook had 96 of those yards, but did so over 30 carries. That is only 3.2 yards per carry and the Bears kept him out of the end-zone. They still rank as the 9th best defense in terms of total yards allowed per game. Their scoring defense ranks 6th, but stopping Aaron Rodgers will be a much tougher task
Green Bay Packers
The Packers were so close to beating the Colts, but a second half collapse so to speak kept them from increasing their division lead. Green Bay led this game 28-14 at halftime an ended up losing 34-31. Aaron Rodgers threw for 311 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Rodgers also lost a fumble that gave Indianapolis more opportunities to comeback.
Once again the Packers struggled to score in the second half. That seems to be a theme as of late and is something they need to fix now. Especially with a shaky defense, they cannot score just 3 points in the second half on a regular basis.
Green Bay still is the 7th best offense in terms of total yards per game. They are the 6th best passing offense and 14th best rushing offense. They also average 30.8 points per game, which gives them the 3rd best scoring offense.
Their defense played decent in the first half, but again, they fell apart in the second half. They allowed 420 total yards, mostly through the air, but 140 yards were from the ground game of the Colts. Green Bay is basically just an above average defense in every category. They are 12th in total defense, 14th in passing defense and 13th in rushing defense. They still allowed 25.8 points per game, the 17th ranked scoring defense.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Chicago are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games on the road.
- Chicago are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games against Green Bay.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Green Bay Packers -7.5
The Packers are going to have a much easier time defending a horrible Chicago offense. The Bears are likely not going to score much, so I like the Packers to dominate.
