Carolina let a little air out of the balloon last week losing at home to Chicago. Perhaps this is just a solid team, not actually a good one.
New Orleans had their bye last week. Maybe a week off will help get the team back on track.
That hook looks like it could be worth something in this one.
The loss to Chicago last week was hardly a star performance but it could have been a win. The stats were relatively even and the turnover gap wsa not huge.
Teddy Bridgewater did not have a great game though and with Christian McCaffery still out the offense was only able to score one touchdown and just 16 points total.
The defense was solid, holding the Bears to under 200 yards passing and just 63 yards on the ground. On a better day that would be more than good enough to win with.
There is still no confirmed return of McCaffery this weekend. Without him they are going to be trying to play catchup with the Saints without their biggest weapon.
If this was under 7 I am not sure there would be any reason to even look at the Carolina side here.
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans is off a bye this week and if you are a quality coach like Sean Payton that is usually an advantage. New Orleans has also won its last two.
If the Saints need to improve though it seems like it is on defense where it is most needed. Their metrics are hard to read though. They are 6th against the run and 18th overall in yards but 24th in points allowed.
The offense is actually taking heat this season but 30ppg is good for fifth in the NFL. That is with top receiver Michael Thomas not playing much too.
In his absence Alvin Kamara continues to prove his worth as one of the most versatile weapons in the game, leading the team in rushing and receving.
Drew Brees is getting knocked for not looking downfield enough. He can be better but my hunch is that he will be right where we expect to be by the end of the season.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: New Orleans -7.5
A bye week is a perfect time to to put in some new schemes on offense and defense. If Thomas is back that is probably enough of a wrinkle to get New Orleans back to where we thing they should be. A few more extended drives and maybe the defense is not as exposed. Perfect teaser number here but I like the home side as it is too.
