Buffalo is an interesting team. They made the playoffs for the first time in a long time last season but still thought that the best path forward was to get rid of their quarterback and draft a new one. It might be the right strategy but not likely for the short term.

Baltimore expects to make the playoffs every season so they. They also drafted a quarterback in the first round but see him as more of a project than a saviour. In the AFC North Pittsburgh is the leader right now but the Ravens want to show they are just as much a contender.
Buffalo Bills
The intro was alluding to the drafting of Josh Allen but it looks like AJ McCarron will be the starter in the first week of the season. I have never been high on the former Bengal but he might have some familiarity with the Ravens who Cincinnati played twice a year.
The best thing that McCarron can do is hand off to LeSean McCoy. Shady is facing a possible suspension but right now he is good to go and far an away the Bills best playmaker. The receiving group is not very intimidating which is going to make it tough for any QB this season.

I do think the Bills can have a very good defense this season. They have improved their defensive line depth a lot with the additions of Trent Murphy and Star Lotulelei and it looks like Shaq Lawson might finally become a player.
Adding Tremaine Edmonds in the draft makes their linebacking group significantly more athletic and TreDavius White proved last season, as a rookiem that he can be a shutdown corner. This group is not elite but upper half I think.
Baltimore Ravens
It seems like the Ravens will never be bad under their current management group – they are well coached and avoid big mistakes with players. At the same time I don’t see them as much better than a year ago when they finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs (while the Bills made it).
At this point in his career Joe Flacco is what he is. He has a big arm but it doesn’t translate as much as you would think and adding Michael Crabtree is not going to do much. I love his fight but he is a middle of the field kind of buy not one to bust a lot of big plays. Alex Collins might be a fantasy sleeper but I am not expecting huge numbers from him.

On defense their best player is still Terrell Suggs. He seems to be aging as well as any defensive player of recent memory and had 11.5 sacks a year ago but at some point I think the wheels are going to come off. The guys around him are not making it easier either. I don’t see anyone else in the front seven you have to game plan for.
At the back end they can probably be very aggressive in this matchup against the Bills. Eric Weddle grabbed 6 interceptions a year ago and is one of those crafty guys who is always in position and knows how to bait quarterbacks. McCarron still has limited experience.

This teams were thisclose a year ago when Baltimore probably should have made the playoffs instead of the Bills. This season I don’t see a huge gap.
NFL Free Week 1 Score Prediction: Baltimore 23 – Buffalo 21
The Bills are going to look hapless at times this season, especially when McCoy is unavailable but in this one they can keep up with the home team.
