What usually is a fierce rivalry might be the complete opposite in this week ten matchup. We have the New Orleans Saints hosting the Atlanta Falcons and to say they are having polar opposite seasons is an understatement.
The Saints swept the season series last year and have won three-games in a row overall.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are easily one of the worst teams in the NFL this season and it shows considering they have lost six games in a row. They are coming off a bye so maybe just maybe they will have fixed some of their issues over the last week. This is probably not the case, so prepare for the same Falcons team that we have seen all season.
They lost to the Seattle Seahawks in their last game 27-20. However, this score was misleading because the score was 24-0 at halftime. Matt Schaub had to fill in for an injured Matt Ryan and he threw for 460 yards in a losing effort. Luckily, Matt Ryan is likely to return this week so maybe he will be able to help this offense put points up again.

The weirdest thing about the Falcons is they have they best passing offense in the league. They are averaging 316.8 yards per game. However, all these yards are not translating to points. They are 20th in the league, averaging 20.6 points per game.
The real reason their passing offense is averaging so many yards is because they have played from behind in basically every single game. That is also why they average 68.5 rushing yards per game, ranking 29th in the NFL.
There is not much to say about this defense other than they have been absolutely horrible in pretty much every way. Their best defensive area is the run defense, which still ranks 21st in the league. They are allowing 31.2 points per game, which is 31st in the league.
Now going up against a rested Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and the rest of the Saints is only going to spell trouble and I do not expect much resistance at all.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints went into their bye last week about as hot as you can be. They won every single game with Teddy Bridgewater as the starting quarterback and currently are the clear favorite to win the NFC South.
The last team the Saints beat was the Arizona Cardinals. They won this game 31-9. This was Drew Brees’ first game back from his injury and he did not disappoint.

The Saints offense is not as explosive as they are known to be, but that is mainly because Bridgewater is not Brees. They did enough to win and that is all you can ask for out of your quarterback.
The Saints are averaging 24.4 points per game this season, which ranks 15th in the league. Even with Bridgewater under center for majority of the games, their passing offense still ranks 10th in the NFL and is averaging 261 yards per game. With Brees back, they are going to be able to balance their offense more and should be able to both run and pass the ball with no issue.
The defense for the Saints has played a huge part to their 7-1 start. They are 5th in the NFL an allow an average of 316.5 total yards per game. Their rush defense has especially looked good, allowing 84.2 yards per game on the ground. Considering Atlanta cannot run the ball to save their lives, the Saints should be able to focus on defending the pass.
NFL Betting Trends:
- NO are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite.
- Underdog is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 meetings.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Atlanta Falcons +13
The Saints are always up for a game against the Falcons and I do not see them losing to a terrible Atlanta team.
However, 13 is a lot of points to lay against a division rival regardless of their record. I think with Matt Ryan returning, it will motivate the Falcons at least a little to put up a fight and therefore I will take Atlanta plus the points.
