The Niners just lost a home game to a division rival and they only have six days to prepare for the Cardinals coming through the door. Could it happen again?
It would certainly payout better. San Francisco is just short of a two-touchdown favorite in Week 11.
Arizona Cardinals
Arizona was in position to get its third road win of the season. That was right up until the moment Kyler Murray threw a terrible pick down by Tampa Bay’s goal line. The Buccaneers drove down the field for the game-winning touchdown and handed the Cardinals their third straight defeat.

Murray threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns, all of which were caught by Christian Kirk. The Cardinals’ quarterback also added a 32-yard run to his totals.
But he was sacked twice and threw a devastating pick deep in Tampa Bay territory with the Cardinals already up four with just a few minutes to play. At worst, Arizona should have gotten three from Zane Gonzalez, who had drilled his two prior kicks from a lot further away, and gone into overtime. At the worst.
Instead, Jameis Winston drove his team the length of the field, aided by a pass interference call in the end zone that had to be spotted on instant replay. The ruling set up a first-and-goal that Peyton Barber ran in for six.
Look, the Cardinals have some weapons on offense with Kirk back and Larry Fitzgerald having another fine season. Kenyan Drake didn’t do what he did against the 49ers two weeks ago but of course he just shredded this defense. David Johnson is healthy too, though he had a quiet day on Sunday apart from a costly fumble.
If San Fran’s offense isn’t up to the task of scoring with the Cardinals, this game could stay tight.
San Francisco 49ers
Kyle Shanahan never got his run game going on Monday Night Football. It didn’t help that Matt Brieda (10 carries 18 yards) wasn’t right physically.
As a result, Jimmy Garoppolo threw the ball forty-six times, nine more times than his previous high this season, and took a beating. The Seahawks sacked him five times and picked him off another. The ladder number there doesn’t compare to the number of times they dropped would-be picks.

Truth is, San Francisco was short-handed. George Kittle didn’t play. Breida shouldn’t have. How they’re feeling in time for this one will go a long way in determining whether the 49ers’ offense makes a quick return to prior form.
This is where inside information can become quite valuable to the bettor. Unfortunately, I don’t have any. Read up on what’s being written about as the week goes on but retain a certain level of reasonable doubt; both guys are banged up and if they play, they won’t be at full strength.
The offensive line will certainly protect Garoppolo better against Arizona than it did against the Seahawks’ front. It should also be able to create more running lanes than it did in Week 10.
Deebo Samuel (8/112) and Kendrick Bourne (4/42/1) were both bright spots in Kittle’s absence. Some threat on the outside will only make things easier for Kittle when he returns.
So while the 49ers may not be ready to cover a big number like 13.5, there shouldn’t be much concern of another upset.
NFL Betting Trends:
- SF are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. NFC West.
- Under is 16-6 in SF last 22 games in November.
- SF are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 vs. NFC.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Arizona stays inside the number.
The total is a little lower than I expected it would be but I actually like the number. I suspect this game will be a little lower scoring than one might expect with the Niners still banged up.
San Fran’s defense looked great in defeat against Seattle and it will have to lead the charge in this one too. I’ll take the Niners to win but the Cardinals to cover in a game that stays competitive the whole way through.
