06-30-17 | Twins v. Royals -120 | 1-8 | Win | 100 | 7 h 7 m | Show
Minnesota heads out on the road and the Twins are 2-5 away against a team with a winning home record. The Twins are also 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a left-handed starter. Kansas City has turned things around and has a winning home mark. The Royals are on a 12-5 run, 8-3 in their last 11 games vs. a right-handed starter. Kansas City Royals left-hander Jason Vargas (11-3, 2.29 ERA) bids to become the American League's first 12-game winner. And the Royals are 17-5 in Vargas' last 22 home starts. Play KC. |
|||||||
06-30-17 | Yankees v. Astros -159 | 13-4 | Loss | -159 | 7 h 1 m | Show
Houston pretty much has the division wrapped-up before the All-Star break. The Astros are already 13.5 games ahead of second place LA Angels. Even with their big lead, the Astros continue to win, stringing together eight wins in their last 10 games. The Yankees are in 2nd place in the AL East, just one game back of the Red Sox. The Yankees have a losing record on the road at just 18-22. Michael Pineda has been solid for the pin stripers, posting a 7-4 record and 4.12 ERA. Lance McCullers has shined for the Astros, posting a 7-1 record and 2.53 ERA. The Astros have won seven straight starts by McCullers. Too much to pass on the best team in baseball at home with McCullers on the hill. Play Houston. |

06-25-17 | Tigers v. Padres +107 | 7-5 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 19 m | Show
Detroit is a struggling team a long way from home and loses the DH on Friday and again on Sat. The Tigers are 3-10 in their last 13 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The Tigers have now lost eight straight games overall. San Diego is home, on a 10-4 run here. The Padres are 8-2 in their last 10 vs. a team with a losing record. Play San Diego. |
|||||||
06-25-17 | Astros v. Mariners +111 | 8-2 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 57 m | Show
It's first and second place meeting here in the AL West as the M's host the Astros. Houston is walking away with the division, now up 12.5 games over Seattle. That makes every matchup with the Astros of utmost importance. The Astros starter today is little used Francis Martes. The 21-year old has been in only three games and has an ERA of 5.02, though he has won both of his previous two starts. Ariel Miranda will start for the M's, with a 6-3 record and 4.04 ERA. Miranda has been very good, throwing seven quality starts in his last eight games. In fact, the 28-year-old has allowed more than two runs just once in that streak. The M's need this game if they hope to close that gap at all. Play the Mariners. |
|||||||
06-25-17 | Twins +141 v. Indians | 4-0 | Win | 141 | 3 h 1 m | Show
Great series here between the top two teams in the AL Central. The Twins had the lead for some time, but have fallen behind the Indians for just a half game. The Twins have taken two straight from the tribe and look for a third today. Veteran Ervin Santana will toe the rubber for the Twins. Santana is 9-4 this year with a 2.97 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. He's second in the AL in wins and third in WHIP. Santana was roughed up in his last start, allowing six runs over five innings, however his team mates picked him up with a 9-7 win over the White Sox. Struggling Josh Tomlin will make the start for the Indians. Tomlin is just 4-8 this season with a 6.07 ERA. Tomlin has allowed 13 runs over his lat 11.2 innings. Moreover, the tribe has won just two of his last eight starts. This nice dog price is just too much to pass on with the Twins. Play Minnesota. |
|||||||
06-24-17 | Tigers v. Padres -101 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 15 h 34 m | Show
Detroit is a struggling team a long way from home and loses the DH. The Tigers are 3-9 in their last 12 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The Tigers are also 3-11 in Anibel Sanchezs (7.96 ERA) last 14 road starts. San Diego is home, on a 9-4 run here. The Padres are 7-2 in their last 9 vs. a team with a losing record. Play San Diego. |
|||||||
06-24-17 | Orioles v. Rays -148 | 8-3 | Loss | -148 | 9 h 32 m | Show
Baltimore is 11-23 on the road. Starter Dylan Bundy has a 7.63 ERA in his past three starts. Manager Buck Showalter sees Bundy's recent struggles as a result of a heavy workload and the Orioles are 6-20 in their last 26 road games.  Tampa Bay is playing well and the Rays are 8-2 in their last 10 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Rays are 7-2 at home, 8-3 in their last 11 games on astroturf. Play Tampa Bay. |
|||||||
06-24-17 | A's v. White Sox -103 | 10-2 | Loss | -103 | 7 h 53 m | Show
Oakland shut-out the White Sox in game one of this series on Friday, 3-0. Today the A's go for two straight as they send Daniel Gossett to the hill. It will be a struggle, seeing as Gossett has a 7.20 ERA and 0-2 record. Gossett has just two appearances this season (both starts) and both losses by a combined 15-7 for the A's. Veteran James Shields will toe the rubber for the Sox. Shields is 1-0 with a 2.42 ERA. Shields returned from the DL on the 18th and pitched a solid 5.2 innings, allowing just three runs and walking one. If Shields can remain healthy he will give this team a solid starter. Good spot for him today. I'm taking the White Sox. |

06-11-17 | Brewers +137 v. Diamondbacks | 1-11 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 14 m | Show
 Milwaukee continues to hold onto first place in the NL Central, with a 2-game lead over the Cubs. The Brewers are the only team in the division with a positive run differential (+27). Chase Anderson toes the rubber for the Brewers. Anderson has been excellent this season with a 5-1 record, 2.94 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. In addition, Anderson has allowed NO earned runs over his last 21.2 innings. The NL West is a three-way race with the Diamondbacks in the thick of things, just three games back of the Rockies. Robbie Ray has been very good for the D'backs, with a 2.85 ERA and 6-3 Record. Hard to pass here on the Brewers at this price. They are a nice dog and I don't see any advantage in pitching for the D'backs. Take the value with the nice dog here, play Milwaukee. |
|||||||
06-11-17 | Mets v. Braves -128 | 2-1 | Loss | -128 | 3 h 58 m | Show
The Mets and Braves are neck and neck in the NL East, with just a half game separating the pair. The bad news is that they trail division leader Washington by double digits. The Mets have taken the first two games in this series and try for the sweep here today. Seth Lugo makes his first appearance of the season. Lugo has been battling a ligament issue and is trying to prove he's worthy of the 6th spot in the rotation. The Braves turn to Jaime Garcia to avoid the sweep. Garcia is just 2-4, but has a respectable 3.21 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. Garcia has pitched very well of late, allowing just four earned runs over his last 29 1/3 innings. Garcia is in fine form and with Lugo a question mark, I'm taking the home club here. Play Atlanta. |

06-08-17 | Rockies +162 v. Cubs | 4-1 | Win | 162 | 8 h 4 m | Show
Colorado has a powerful offense and a sizzling 21-10 road record. Rockies RH Tyler Chatwood is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in two career starts against the Cubs and worked seven scoreless frames in his only previous outing at Wrigley Field. The Rockies are 12-5 in their last 17 road games and face an up and down defending champion Chicago Cubs squad. The Cubs are 1-5 in their last 6 games following a loss and the Rockies are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings. Play Colorado. |

05-28-17 | Cubs v. Dodgers -160 | 4-9 | Win | 100 | 6 h 31 m | Show
After a slow start to the season, the LA Dodgers are making a move. The Dodgers have lots of depth, both on offense and in pitching. They have won eight of their last 10 games and now trail 1st place Colorado by just 1 1/2 games. The Dodgers will start Ace Clayton Kershaw today. Kershaw looking every bit the Cy Young pitcher that he is, with a 7-2 record and 2.01 ERA to go with an outstanding 0.82 WHIP. Meanwhile, the Cubs continue to play uninspired ball, posting just a 25-23 record. The Cubbies have lost two straight to the Dodgers and will turn to Jon Lester today to avoid the sweep. Lester is 3-2 on the season with a 3.19 ERA. Lester has pitched well, but the Dodgers are hot and have their Ace on the hill. Play LA. |
|||||||
05-28-17 | Padres v. Nationals -165 | 5-3 | Loss | -165 | 4 h 11 m | Show
The 1st place Washington Nationals host the last place San Diego Padres. The Padres have lost two straight to the Nats as Bryce Harper has feasted off Padres pitchers. Joe Ross gets the start for the Nationals today, with a 2-0 record and 5.32 ERA. Ross has only four starts, but Washington has won all four, despite the young hurler giving up at least one home run in each game. The Padres will look to righthander Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin is 4-4 with a 5.74 ERA. Chacin is coming off a horrendous outing, where he allowed seven earned runs in just 2/3 of an inning. Big mismatch here with the Nationals in cruise control. Play Washington |
|||||||
05-28-17 | Rays -104 v. Twins | 8-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 32 m | Show
Tampa Bay is right at the .500 mark with a 26-26 record after dropping Saturday's contest to the Twins, 5-3. Today will be the rubber match as Alex Cobb gets the nod for the Rays. Cobb is 4-4 on the season with a 3.82 ERA. Despite his mediocre record, Cobb has not allowed more than four earned runs in any of his last eight starts. He'll face a first place Minnesota team that has won seven of its last 10 games. The Twins have actually played much better on the road, where they have a 14-5 record, compared to their 12-14 losing home record. Kyle Gibson has been in a rough spot this year, posting just a 1-4 record, 8.62 ERA and 2.01 WHIP. The 29 year old won his first game last time out, despite allowing six earned runs and four walks over just five innings. The Twins will have to score a lot to win this one and I don't see that happening against a solid Alex Cobb. Play the Rays. |
|||||||
05-28-17 | Orioles v. Astros -205 | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 4 h 32 m | Show
The Houston Astros have the best record in baseball at 34-16. The club has won three straight and six of their last 10 and look for the sweep here today against the Orioles. Lance McCullers will toe the rubber today for the Astros. McCullers has been excellent, posting a 5-1 record and 2.43 ERA. McCullers has won three straight games, allowing no earned runs and eight total hits in 17 innings of work. The O's have been sliding bad, losing six straight games and dropping to third in the AL East. Alec Asher comes out of the pen to make his third start of the season. Asher has a 2.17 ERA in his bullpen work this season. Asher replaces struggling pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez who has been relegated to the pen. In his two previous starts, Asher has gone at least six innings and pitched well. Too much going for the best team in baseball right now and I like them here again today. Play Houston. |
|||||||
05-28-17 | Royals +122 v. Indians | 1-10 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 32 m | Show
Kansas City may be one year removed from their World Series triumph, but they are playing in the same fog that engulfed them last season. The Royals are just 21-27 and in last place in the AL Central. The good news is that the club has won two straight games against a very good Cleveland club. Danny Duffy will try to keep the momentum going. Duffy is 4-3 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. After a rough patch, Duffy has strung together three straight quality outings, allowing just four earned runs over 21 innings. Meanwhile, the Indians have dropped three straight games. The Tribe has also dropped to three games back of the Twins in the AL Central race. Josh Tomlin has struggled badly this season, posting a 2-6 record and 6.70 ERA. Unlike Duffy, Tomlin has had two very bad outings in a row, allowing 11 runs over just 8 2/3 innings. The Royals are a nice dog here today. With a hot pitcher on the hill and the club playing better, I see excellent value in taking the Royals. |
|||||||
05-27-17 | Cardinals v. Rockies -110 | 3-0 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 28 m | Show
Colorado used a 14-hit attack to pound St. Louis 10-0 on Friday for its fifth win in six games. St. Louis continues its long road trek, 1-3 on the trip. Colorado has a powerful offense and Rockies LH Kyle Freeland (5-2, 3.31 ERA) has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts, posting a 4-1 record in that span. And the Rockies are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Play Colorado. |
|||||||
05-27-17 | Diamondbacks -130 v. Brewers | 1-6 | Loss | -130 | 5 h 29 m | Show
Arizona has a strong offense, third in baseball in runs scored. Diamondbacks 3B Jake Lamb has seven home runs in his last 10 games. Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke (6-2, 2.82 ERA) has not allowed an earned run in his last 12+ innings against Milwaukee. He is second in the National League in strikeouts (78) and tied for second in wins. The Diamondbacks are 11-5 in Greinkes last 16 road starts. Milwaukee has lost 5 in a row and is 28-71 vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. And the Brewers are 5-13 in Andersons last 18 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Play Arizona. |
