Baltimore is on a 10-26 run on the road. Orioles lefty Wade Miley (4-9, 5.69 ERA) has been getting roughed up of late as he's surrendered a total of 17 runs and 21 hits over 15 2/3 innings in his last three starts. 07-30-17 | Cubs v. Brewers +107 | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 14 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs have a losing road record and wind up a 5-game trip here. It's a big series and the Cubs have been favored in every game, but split the first two, losing 2-1 as a -138 favorite. Cubs starter John Lackey (7-9, 4.97 ERA) has not had a good season and lost the first meeting this season with Milwaukee after surrendering four runs and seven hits over six frames. Milwaukee is #8 in baseball in runs scored and is on a 10-3 run at home. Brewers righty Zach Davies (12-4) is off an 8-0 win over Washington, so back the home dog. Play Milwaukee. |

07-29-17 | Twins -107 v. A's | 4-5 | Loss | -107 | 10 h 52 m | Show
Minnesota has a winning road record and posting a 6-3 triumph over Oakland on Friday. Twins lefty Adalberto Mejia (4-4, 4.10 ERA) has excellent stuff and the team is 22-9 in their last 31 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Returning home from a 1-6 road trip did not change Oakland's fortunes as it suffered its fifth consecutive setback. The Athletics go with 36-year-old Chris Smith and their offense #24 in baseball in runs scored. And the Athletics are 18-39 in their last 57 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Play Minnesota. |
|||||||
07-29-17 | Pirates -110 v. Padres | 2-4 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 25 m | Show
 The Pirates are 6-2 vs. a right-handed starter. Ivan Nova (10-7, ,3.62 ERA) has been strong for the Pirates, with the team on a 7-1 run under the total when he takes the mound. San Diego is last in baseball in runs scored, so back the visitors. Play Pittsburgh. |
|||||||
07-29-17 | Orioles -115 v. Rangers | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 9 h 50 m | Show
Texas was crushed by a combined 34-11 in a four-game series at Baltimore just over a week ago. Orioles righty Kevin Gausman has finally turned a corner, brilliant in his last two starts, earning a pair of wins while allowing a total of one run and nine hits in 12 innings. He notched 16 strikeouts in those two turns and breezed past the Rangers with six strong innings on July 19. The Orioles are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record. the Texas Rangers go with young Austin Bibens-Dirkx (4.53 ERA) and are 2-8 vs. a team with a losing record. Play Baltimore. |

Detroit has little pitching and goes with Matthew Boyd (4-5, 5.48 ERA), walking 28 in 67 innings with 85 hits allowed. The Tigers are 7-19 in their last 26 vs. American League West. Play Houston. |
|||||||
07-29-17 | Rays v. Yankees -149 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 2 h 53 m | Show
Tampa Bay has a losing road record and heads to its house of horrors, 6-20 at Yankee Stadium. The Rays go with winless Blake Snell (0-6, 4.86 ERA) and the team is 24-56 in their last 80 road games vs. a team with a winning record. The NY Yankees are 29-17 at home and RF Aaron Judge belted his AL-leading 33rd homer Friday for a third blast in his last six contests. The Yankees are 8-2 at home against a team with a winning record. Play the NY Yankees. |

07-26-17 | Orioles v. Rays -137 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 8 m | Show
 Early Inner Circle: The Tampa Bay Rays continue to hang around in the AL East race, just 2.5 back of the Boston Red Sox. The Rays are also just one game back in the Wild Card Race. Early start here on Wednesday has Alex Cobb toeing the rubber. Cobb is 8-6 this season with a 3.57 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Cobb has put together eight of his last 10 starts as allowing three runs or less. The Orioles have dropped to six back in the AL East and five back in the Wild Card race. The O's have the second worst road record in the AL at 18-31. In fact, Baltimore is just 9-23 in the last 32 away games. Ubaldo Jimenez has been horrible for the O's, posting a 4-6 recordd, 7.19 ERA and 1.61 WHIP. Jimenez has allowed 12 runs over his last nine innings and 21 runs over his last 19 innings. Short price here for the Rays at home against a very poor road club. Take the Rays. |

07-23-17 | Nationals v. Diamondbacks -105 | 6-2 | Loss | -105 | 6 h 2 m | Show
Arizona has fallen off the NL West chase of late, now 10.5 games back of the red-hot Dodgers. The D'backs have been relatively cold, going 3-7 their last 10 games. They have split this series with the Nationals, taking game on Friday and dropping game two on Saturday. Arizona still holds a comfortable 5.5 game lead in the NL WildCard race and looks to keep that lead. Robbie Ray gets the start today for Arizona. Ray has been solid all season, posting a 9-4 record and 2.97 ERA. Ray has allowed more than two runs just twice (both time four runs) in his last 10 starts and is 7-1 during that stretch. Ray is also third in the NL in KO's with 145. The Nationals can pretty much put the NL East into cruise control, as they lead second place Atlanta by 11 games. Stephen Strasburg gets the nod today. The 29-year-old is 10-3 with a 3.31 ERA. Strassburg had one of his worst outings of the year just two starts ago, allowing six runs over three innings in a 13-0 loss to Atlanta. Two very good teams with top notch starters here. I like the fact that Washington is a long way from home and I get the home club here at a pick'em price. I'm taking Arizona. |

07-19-17 | Cubs v. Braves +138 | 8-2 | Loss | -100 | 4 h 54 m | Show
Early Inner Circle (31-18-1): The Cubs and Braves get off to an early start this morning and Jim Feist is releasing this as an Early Inner Circle, now 31-18-1 the last 50 plays. The Cubs have shaved three games off the Milwaukee lead in the NL Central just in the last three games. The Braves are also in 2nd place, in the NL East, though they trail Washington by 11.5 games. The Braves are also eight back in the Wild Card race. Veteran knuckleball pitcher R.A. Dickey starts for the Braves. Dickey is 6-5 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. Dickey has been great in recent starts, allowing just five total runs over his last five starts (33 innings). And for a knuckballer, he has had just eight walks compared to 27 KO's during the same stretch. Mike Montgomery will toe the rubber for the Cubs. The 28-year-old southpaw has been in and out of the bullpen this year. Monty is 1-3 in his four starts. The Cubs are a big favorite on the road. However, I like the way Dickey is pitching and when a knuckball pitcher has his pitches working, he's tough to hit. I'll take the home dog here early on Wednesday |

07-17-17 | Rangers +106 v. Orioles | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 27 m | Show
Texas is on a 5-2 run and the Rangers are 5-1 away against a team with a winning home record. Rangers righty Andrew Cashner (3.54 ERA) has been good and faces a struggling Baltimore team. The Orioles lost their series opener against the Chicago Cubs on a ninth-inning homer Friday night and then dropped the next two meetings by a combined score of 18-3. Â The Orioles are 16-37 in their last 53 games on grass. Orioles righty Chris Tillman (1-5, 7.90) is winless with an ERA of 8.80 over his last 10 starts. Â Baltimore is 6-20 against the American League West, 3-8 against Texas. Play the Texas Rangers. Â |
|||||||
07-17-17 | Brewers +108 v. Pirates | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 26 m | Show
Milwaukee has an impressive road record and offense. The Brewers own a 4 1/2-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central, and they can credit the NL's third-best road record at 24-18. Â Milwaukee has homered in nine straight contests and 27 of its last 29. The Brewers have Brent Suter (1-1, 2.96 ERA) going, and the team is on an 8-2 run. The Brewers are 8-0 in their last 8 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. Pittsburgh is .500 at home and stuck with pitcher Chad Kuhl (3-6, 4.96). The Pirates are 2-11 in Kuhl's last 13 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Â Play Milwaukee. Â |

07-16-17 | Giants v. Padres +107 | 1-7 | Win | 107 | 6 h 53 m | Show
07/16 04:40 PM EST  MLB  (963) SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS VS (964) SAN DIEGO PADRES. Take: (964) SAN DIEGO PADRES Reason: San Francisco is 18-33 on the road. The The Giants have dropped six of their last eight contests and were dealt another blow Saturday, when Johnny Cueto was placed on the 10-day disabled list. San Diego won last night, 5-3, and Padres starter Trevor Cahill (3-3, 3.38 ERA) has been very good. The Giants have dropped 13 of their last 18 games against San Diego, including eight of the last 12 at Petco Park. Play San Diego.  Submit |
|||||||
07-16-17 | Diamondbacks -108 v. Braves | 1-7 | Loss | -108 | 3 h 59 m | Show
07/16 1:35 PM EST   MLB  (957) ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS VS (958) ATLANTA BRAVES. Take: (957) ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS Reason: MLB Inner Circle: Play Arizona. Arizona has a strong offense and looks to break a skid behind Diamondbacks righty Zack Godley (3-3, 2.58 ERA). He has not surrendered more than three runs in any start this season. The Diamondbacks are 20-8 in their last 28 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game. The Atlanta Braves are stuck with lefty Jaime Garcia (2-7, 4.55 ERA). The Braves likely will try to deal Garcia before the July 31 trade deadline, but he closed the first half with a thud, posting a 9.41 ERA and a .333 opponents batting average across his final four starts. Play Arizona.  Submit |
|||||||
07-16-17 | Rockies v. Mets -133 | 13-4 | Loss | -133 | 3 h 34 m | Show
7/16 1:10 PM EST  MLB  (955) COLORADO ROCKIES VS (956) NEW YORK METS. Take: (956) NEW YORK METS Reason: Colorado is a long way from home, stumbling on a 5-5 run. The Rockies are 16-38 in their last 54 road games vs. a left-handed starter. New York will attempt to complete a three-game home sweep, outscoring Colorado 23-5 through two games. Mets lefty Steven Matz (2-2, 3.05 ERA) is throwing well and the team is on 5-1 run at home. The Rockies are 6-14 in the last 20 meetings, 3-13 at New York. Play N.Y. Mets.  Submit |
|||||||
07-16-17 | Blue Jays v. Tigers -116 | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 3 h 34 m | Show
07/16 1:10 PM  EST  MLB  (965) TORONTO BLUE JAYS VS (966) DETROIT TIGERS. Take: (966) DETROIT TIGERS Reason: Toronto isn't cutting it on the road and Blue Jays 34-year-old righty Marco Estrada (4-6, 5.17 ERA) isn't cutting it anywhere. Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus called a meeting prior to Saturday's matchup and the team responded. Play Detroit.  Submit |
|||||||
07-15-17 | Rays +113 v. Angels | 6-3 | Win | 113 | 9 h 60 m | Show
Reason: MLB Bailout Game of the Month: Play Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay has a Top 10 offense and the Rays are 7-3 in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Rays starter Alex Cobb (7-6, 3.75 ERA) has delivered scoreless two-hit efforts in two of his last three starts and is 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA over his last six outings. The Angels are 1-4 in their last 5 home games and go with J.C. Ramirez (4.46 ERA). And the Rays are 22-8 in the last 30 meetings in Los Angeles. Play Tampa Bay. |
|||||||
07-15-17 | Giants v. Padres +127 | 3-5 | Win | 127 | 9 h 35 m | Show
San Francisco is a bad offensive team and a bad road team. It's the first game back for Madison Bumgarner and the Giants are 11-24 in their last 35 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Padres righty Jhoulys Chacin (8-7, 4.32 ERA) is throwing well, allowing fewer than three earned runs in seven of his last 10 starts. He has a 1.68 ERA in nine starts at Petco Park this season and owns a 7-6 record and 3.33 ERA in 17 career games versus San Francisco. And the Giants are 5-12 in the last 17 meetings. Play San Diego. |
|||||||
07-11-17 | American League v. National League -115 | 2-1 | Loss | -115 | 32 h 9 m | Show
Major league baseball finally got wise and disconnected the home field in the World Series from this game. That is likely bad news for the AL that has dominated in recent times. The AL has won the last four All Star games, holding the NL to three runs or less in each of those contests. The NL did enjoy one brief winning stint, taking the mid-summer class in 2012, 2011 and 2010. However, in the 2000's, the AL is 13-3 with one game ending in a 7-7 tie (2002). This year's contest moves to Marlins Park in Miami. You would think the All Star games would be high scoring, like we see in the NBA and NHL. However, you would have to go back to 2005 to find a game total that would eclipse this year's nine total. I look for the NL to finally get back in the win column now that the World Series no longer is tied to this contest. |

07-09-17 | Reds v. Diamondbacks -145 | 2-1 | Loss | -145 | 5 h 55 m | Show
Cincy starter Homer Bailey (12.66 ERA) is in Arizona to face a dynamite Diamondbacks offense. The Reds are 99-178 vs. a team with a good bullpen whose WHIP is 1.350 or better over the last 3 seasons. Arizona has a strong offense and sttarter Patrick Corbin has allowed 3 runs or less in four of his last five starts. Arizona is 33-16 when playing against a team with a losing record this season. Play Arizona. |

07-09-17 | Orioles v. Twins -118 | 11-5 | Loss | -118 | 3 h 53 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles are fading in the AL East, now 8.5 games back of the Boston Red Sox. The O's did take Saturday's game over the Twins, still, it was only their third win in the last 10 games. The Orioles have the worst run differential in the AL (-84). This is thanks to a horrible pitching staff, ranked 29th in ERA (5.08) and 30th in both WHIP (1.52) and BAA (.281). Ubaldo Jiminez has struggled this year for the birds, posting a 3-4 record with a 6.64 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. While Jiminez does show flashes of brilliance, they are often surrounded with horror. The Twins have dropped to 2.5 games back of the Indians in the AL Central. Kyle Gibson has also struggled this season, posting a 5-6 record and 5.82 ERA. Unlike Jiminez, Gibson has been much better of late, allowing just six earned runs over his last 17 innings. I like the Twins here today to bounce back from yesterday's loss and close out the first half of the season on a winning note. Play Minnesota. |

07-08-17 | A's v. Mariners -147 | 4-3 | Loss | -147 | 14 h 33 m | Show
The two bottom clubs in the AL West meet here today with the Mariner's hosting the A's. The Mariners finally snapped a losing streak with their win over Oakland on Friday. Andrew Moore looks to add to that win streak today. Moore is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in his two starts this season. Moore started on July 3 and pitched well, going eight innings and allowing just three runs, no walks and four KO's. Despite his good effort, he was tagged with the loss to the Royals, 3-1. Chris Smith starts for the A's. Oakland's pitching staff has been hit hard by injuries and how desperate are they? They turn to a 36-year old Chris Smith making his first ever big league start. Smith was in the bullpen last year, and pitched decent with a 2.92 ERA. He was 4-3 this year at Triple-A Nashville with a 3.16 ERA. Making his first start at this age shows fortitude, but also desperation on the part of the A's. I'm taking the M's here on Saturday. |

07-08-17 | Reds v. Diamondbacks -162 | Top | 7-0 | Loss | -162 | 14 h 32 m | Show |
Had the Arizona Diamondbacks been in either of the other two divisions in the NL, they would be in first place with their 53-34 record. However, they trail the red-hot Dodgers by 5.5 games. Good news is that if the playoffs started today they would be the top WildCard team. The D'backs have been great at home, posting a 33-13 record. Taijuan Walker starts today and he's been excellent, posting a 6-3 record and 3.30 ERA. Walker has been very consistent, allowing more than three runs just one time in his last 10 starts. The Reds are done for this year, as they trail the Wildcard race by 12.5 games. Luis Castillo starts today with a 0-1 record and 4.41 ERA with a 1.71 WHIP. Castillo has just three appearances and none have gone past 5.2 innings. Tough spot here today for the rookie pitcher playing at a very good team's home. Play the Diamondbacks. |

07-08-17 | Red Sox v. Rays -106 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 24 m | Show
Boston continues its road trip with Rick Porcello (4-10, 5.01 ERA). He is 1-4 on the road and batters overall are hitting .303 off him. The Red Sox are 0-7 in Porcello's last 7 starts vs. the American League East. Tampa Bay is home ranked #10 in baseball in runs scored. Alex Cobb has a 3.13 ERA at home. The Rays are 9-4 in their last 13 home games, plus 8-3 against a righty. Play Tampa Bay. |
|||||||
07-08-17 | Mets v. Cardinals -126 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 16 m | Show
 The Mets and Cardinals both looking to improve on their Wild Card chances before the break. The Mets are 9.5 out and the Cards are 8.5 out. Both clubs have a lot of ground to make up if they hope to be around come the post season. Zach Wheeler starts for the Mets today, with his 3-5 record and 5.01 ERA. Wheeler is coming off an excellent start, where he allowed just two runs in limited exposure to the Phillies. Adam Wainwright toes the rubber for the birds. Wainwright is 9-5 this season, but has a high 5.48 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Wainwright got 14 runs of support in his last start, which may account for his lackluster six runs allowed over five innings. Still, the veteran has had two good starts in his lat three. I'm sticking with the home club here today. Play St Louis. |

07-07-17 | Mets +110 v. Cardinals | 6-5 | Win | 110 | 8 h 4 m | Show
The New York Mets are a long shot to make a playoff spot right now, trailing Washington by 11 games in the East and seven games behind in the Wild Card race. If there has been one bright spot for the Mets, it would be starter Jacob DeGrom. DeGrom is 8-3 with a 3.55 ERA and 1.22 WHIP this season. Degrom has been red-hot too, allowing just three total runs over his last 32 innings, 31 KO's and just 8 walks. The Cardinals offense should be taylor made for DeGrom. The birds are just 20th in baseball in runs, 17th in batting average and 19th in slugging. Carlos Martinez starts today, with a 6-7 record and 3.15 ERA. Despite a losing record, Martinez is considered the club's Ace. Martinez is coming off a rough outing where he allowed five runs over five innings in a loss to Washington. While neither team is great, a big edge here to the Mets with DeGrom. The fact that we get him at even money or even a slight dog it even better. Take the Mets. |

07-07-17 | Red Sox -135 v. Rays | 8-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 58 m | Show
Reason: Inner Circle : Important series here, especially for the TB Rays. The Rays trail the Sox by 4.5 games in the AL East and can close some more gap before the All-Star break. Jake Odorizzi starts today for the Rays with a 5-3 record and 4.08 ERA. The 5-year veteran has given the Rays very consistent starts, though nothing overpowering. He'll face a Red Sox team that is 3rd in team batting average (.269) and 9th in Runs scored (420). The Sox had their six-game win streak snapped a few nights ago and have since dropped two straight. Drew Pomeranz has been very good for Boston, posting a 8-4 record and 3.64 ERA. The 28-year-old has won five of his last six decisions. The Red Sox have won eight of the last 11 meetings with the Rays and five of the last seven in Tampa Bay. Top team in the East with a top pitcher, that's a winner in my book. Play Boston. |
|||||||
07-06-17 | Braves +152 v. Nationals | 5-2 | Win | 152 | 14 h 55 m | Show
The Atlanta Braves have been a pretty good road team of late, evidenced by their 8-3 record the last 11 away contests. Moreover, the club is 5-0 in Foltynewiczs last five starts. The Braves are in second place, 9.5 games back of the Nationals. Washington can pretty much put things into cruise control in the NL East. No team looks ready to step up and contend for the division crown. A small blemish for the Nats is that they are just 0-4 in Gonzalez's last four home starts, not good for chalk bettors. In addition, the Nats are just 4-11 in Gonzalez's last 15 starts vs the Braves. Big dog price here with a road team that has some advantages. Good value with the dog, play Atlanta. |
|||||||
07-06-17 | Pirates -134 v. Phillies | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 11 h 35 m | Show
The Pirates look to take three of four in this series with their intrastate rivals, Philadlephia. The Pirates had an excellent June, where they climbed to just five games back in the NL Central. By virtue of playing in the weakest division in baseball, the Bucs still have an outside shot at a playoff spot. The Pirates hope Chad Kuhl can build off his last start. Kuhl is just 2-6 with a 5.26 ERA. However, the 24-year-old righthander is coming off an excellent six inning performance against the Giants where he allowed just two hits and one run over six innings. The Phillies don't have the same luxury of playing in a weak division, as the club sits 21.5 games back of the Washington Nationals. The Phils turn to veteran Jeremy Hellickson, who is 5-5 with a 4.48 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. The Phillies have lost the last five starts of Hellickson and seven of the last 10. Nice spot here for the Pirates to build on their modest win streak. Take Pittsburgh. |
|||||||
07-05-17 | Royals +114 v. Mariners | 9-6 | Win | 114 | 10 h 56 m | Show
The Royals may have struggled this season, but they have done well with Vargas on the hill. When Vargas has started, the Royals are 4-1 in his last five road starts, 10-1 in his last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 7-0 against the AL West. In addition, KC is 20-7 in his last 27 starts on grass. Meanwhile, the Mariners have lost two straight and seven of their last 10 games. Good spot here for a big Royals win. Play KC. |
