So which defenses can we trust to get us over the hump this week? Let’s take a look at the top Fantasy Football D/ST plays for Week 8.
1. St. Louis
The 49ers offense is brutal – plain and simple. The Titans defense would probably do a job on these guys right now. The Rams D has been terrific this year particularly at home where they have not allowed a passing touchdown the last two outings.
This is an epic mismatch this week – St. Louis’s defense should absolutely crush the 49ers in this one.
Seattle faces Dallas this week and the Cowboys are a mess offensively. Four turnovers last week killed them. There is little reason to believe that the Boys get thing turned around against a Seattle defense that may be finally finding their groove. If you think Darren McFadden is the answer – think again – the Hawks have allowed only one rushing score this year. Seattle should dominate this one.
Ya, Ya I know they are playing the Colts but Indy has given up the ball this year and the Panthers are on a different lever right now defensively.
Luke Kuechly alone makes this team a terror – with the secondary playing the way it is and with Andrew Luck struggling this is a surprisingly good matchup for Carolina’s defense. They fancy themselves as one of the best in the game – time to prove it.
It looks like Johnny Manziel will start for the Browns – cha-ching for the Cardinals. There is precisely zero holes on the Cardinals defense right now – there is nowhere I see the Browns exploiting. I expect the Cards to ride their offense to a big early lead and force the Browns to play catch-up. That plays right into the hands of Patrick Peterson and the Cardinals top ranked pass defense. It could be an ugly game Sunday and Arizona’s defense benefits.
5. N.Y. Jets
Derek Carr was impressive last week for the Oakland Raiders but the Jets secondary should give the second-year QB fits. Oakland’s strength plays right into the hands of New York’s defense.
Add in the fact that New York is currently #1 against the run and this looks like a long day for Oakland. Amari Cooper is a nice talent but will have Darrelle Revis to contend with! The Jets are a hungry bunch after their loss to the Pats last week- expect them to dominate the Raiders.
