Play your cards right and your D/ST could be your second or third best point “getter” of the week.
So which Studs are locks for a big week? Let’s take a look at the top 5 Fantasy Defense plays for Week 6.
vs. Cleveland Browns
The best Fantasy defense through five weeks of the season should have more success against an inconsistent Cleveland team in Denver. The Broncos secondary has been off the charts so far and the pass rush has been on a different level.
LB DeMarcus Ware is out with an ankle injury but we can expect the rest of the defense to step up in his place. Denver has only allowed three TDs through the air this season – I expect Josh McCown to be knocked down a peg on Sunday.
vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Arizona Cardinals have been amazing defensively this year – they are a matchup nightmare for any opposing team. This week the only tough task is to game plan against Le’ Veon Bell.
Minimizing Bell is the only chore – Michael Vick scares nobody and his receivers have been rendered nearly unplayable because of Vick’s futility. The Cards should roll and the defense should beat up on the Steelers.
vs. Carolina Panthers
The Seahawks defense at home plays at a different level. Add in the fact that they will be motivated to erase the memory of a late-game collapse in Week 5 and we have to think that Seattle will have a tremendous game on defense.
The Panthers aren’t exactly world beaters offensively.
Expect the Hawks to have something in mind for Cam Newton and the boys and for the Hawks to state their claim as one of the best D/ST plays of Week 6.
4. Green Bay
vs. San Diego Chargers
The Packers are #2 in the NFL in sacks and they have not given up more than 225 yards passing to any one of their opponents. The Chargers will need to throw to be successful – that plays right into the hands of Green Bay’s terrific secondary.
The Packers defense has been producing all season long- no reason to think they won’t again Sunday on home field.
Vs. Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills will likely go with EJ Manuel at QB this week – cha ching for an opposing defense! Add in the fact that LeSean McCoy will miss another week and that Sammy Watkins is still questionable to play and the Bills look destined for a miserable offensive performance.
Buffalo was bad last week against a sketchy defense – expect them to struggle mightily this week against a Cincinnati defense that has exceeded expectations.
