Updated July 2020 World Series Futures Betting Odds for 2020
Los Angeles Dodgers +325
It feels like the Dodgers have been pushing their chips to the middle of the table steadily for the past decade, but this offseason’s addition of Mookie Betts to an already loaded roster may be the biggest chip yet.
Los Angeles is the clear favorite in the National League, with only their past history of playoff failures offering doubt to their championship upside.
New York Yankees +450
If the Dodgers’ lineup isn’t scary enough, have a look at what they’re fielding in the Bronx. The Yankees’ lineup may not be a revival of the Murders’ Row, but they can mash with anyone. And they’re hardly a one-dimensional group, with some top-flight starters, including new addition Gerrit Cole, and one of the deepest bullpens in the game which will certainly be an asset this season.
Houston Astros +1200
The Astros’ offseason was rocked by scandal. Couple that with the high-profile departure of Gerrit Cole and it’s easy to overlook the Astros this season. But don’t let all the noise fool you – this is a roster still stocked with plenty of talent.
The 2020 World Series Futures Betting Odds Play: Yankees +450
Minnesota Twins +1800
The Twins’ stacked lineup propelled the team to the top of the AL Central a year ago. While the front office may have been wise to focus on the team’s pitching staff this offseason, the big-ticket addition of Josh Donaldson to that already potent lineup shows the Twins are for real. A couple solid arms acquired at the deadline could make this team a legit contender.
Chicago Cubs +2000
The Cubs’ core already has a championship under its belt, but a lack of flashy offseason additions has many overlooking Chicago. This is a team poised for a major bounceback season that could go on well into October.
If the likes of Kris Bryant and Javier Baez can return to their MVP-caliber form, this club could establish itself as the team to beat come playoff time, and that presents tremendous value at their current price.
New York Mets +2000
There have been a lot of concerns about the Mets’ ability to weather the addition of an everyday DH. After all, this is a team that’s been built around its pitching staff for years, dating back to their 2015 run to the World Series. But maybe the biggest wild card of this season is Yoenis Cespedes – who would be just what the doctor ordered for New York if he can stay healthy. And after cranking a solo home run in the team’s opener, there’s reason for optimism in Queens.
The 2020 World Series Futures Betting Odds Play: Cubs +2000
Philadelphia Phillies +3500
The post-hype sleeper is always a favorite in columns such as this, and the Phillies are this year’s candidate as an after-thought club that wasn’t able to deliver on all its hype a year ago. They have a new manager calling the shots and while their path through the NL East isn’t easy, they have a talented enough roster to overcome their division.
Boston Red Sox +5000
The Red Sox are beyond an afterthought after trading away Mookie Betts in the offseason, while also losing Chris Sale to Tommy John surgery. But those are two pieces on a club built to win now. There’s plenty of talent left on this roster, including a lineup that can score runs in bunches.
Colorado Rockies +125000
A lot of funny things are going to happen in a shortened season, and we could see teams get hot and sneak their way through a few rounds of postseason play when things get really interesting. We’ve seen Colorado get off to hot starts before and have a slew of pitchers expected to bounce back from down years, so they could be a club worth taking a flyer on.
