Texas Rangers
After a nice run that got them above .500 the Rangers have slipped a little of late. They have lost three in a row coming into Tuesday including the first game of this series. They are second in the league in scoring but they are going to find it challenging to win when they can’t put a lot of runs on the board. I still think they are just sinking to their real level.

Drew Smyly got his first win of the season in his last start against the Angels. He is getting hit hard in most outings. Even though the got the win against L.A. he gave up a couple of dingers. It was his longest outing of the season at 6 innings but some nights he is not even giving them 5. He has a road ERA over 7 so it is probably best to fade him and the Rangers.
Seattle Mariners
After a hot start the Mariners have sunk all the way to the bottom of the AL West. They have an interesting profile for a team with a bad record. They are 10th in scoring, second in homers and 8th in quality starts. I think those numbers reflect the fact that for half of the year they were really good but they make you think they could be again. It is hard to know what this team really is. Somewhere in the middle most likely.

Wade LeBlanc was pretty good for Seattle last year but this season has been terrible. He really has only one outing where he gave the Ms a good chance to win. Significant run support has really helped him out. He is giving up way too many homers so the ball could be flying out of the park in this one. At home his numbers are terrible.
