As the end of the season approaches, two NFC teams with playoff aspirations meet in Minnesota as the 9-5 Vikings host the 6-8 New York Giants.
Kick off is set for 8:30 PM ET as Teddy Bridgewater, Adrian Peterson and the rest of the Vikings look to clinch the final NFC Wild Card spot at home on Sunday Night Football.
New York Giants
At 6-8, the New York Giants still have a chance at the NFC East crown. Unfortunately, they may have to conquer that challenge without their best player for one game.
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was suspended one game for his vicious headbutt on Carolina’s Josh Norman in Week 15, but multiple reports are saying he’s appealing his suspension.
Either way, the Giants will be in for a difficult matchup as they take the road to face the Minnesota Vikings.
The Giants have had a solid offense this year, and they rank 6th in the NFL in both passing yards and points.
Their middle-of-the-road rushing attack has been a hindrance when it comes to balancing the entire offense, but they’ll be in for an even tougher time if Beckham is unable to suit up.
New York almost completed an unbelievable four-touchdown comeback against the Panthers on Sunday, but the Giants’ defense, which has been awful the entire season, failed to get a final stop as Carolina won it with a last-second field goal.
The Giants defense ranks dead last in passing yards, total yards and 3rd down percentage. The Vikings’ offense isn’t stellar, but even they’re capable of having a big game against a team that’s allowing 423 yards per game.
A win by the Vikings in this game solidifies them a playoff spot, and they’ll want nothing more than to do that in front of their home crowd on prime time.
The Vikings have been clicking offensively over the last two weeks, and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has done a phenomenal job limiting the amount of turnovers.
Bridgewater has six total touchdowns and zero interceptions in his last two games, and he’s only thrown two picks over his last six games.
Then there’s Adrian Peterson, who’s averaging 4.6 yards per carry to go along with 1,300 yards and nine touchdowns this year. Peterson hasn’t eclipsed the 100-yard mark since Week 12 against Atlanta, but that could easily change Sunday night against New York, a team that’s allowing 114 rushing yards per game.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Giants are 8-5-1 ATS this year.
- Vikings are 11-3 ATS this year.
- Giants are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games.
- Vikings are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games.
- Vikings are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Minnesota ATS
The Vikings coasted to an easy win last week against the Bears, and they’ll be fresh for this primetime game where they can all but clinch the NFC’s final playoff spot.
The Giants, on the other hand, fell short during their comeback attempt against Carolina, and they’ll have a difficult time recovering the effort. Combine that with the fact that they could be without their best player, and this spells a bad spot for New York.

Bridgewater and Peterson will pick apart the abysmal Giants secondary en route to a Week 16 win in their home finale.
