Sunday night football features a tilt between longtime NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Dallas edged out the Eagles for top spot in the East last year, while the Giants were also-rans, with a record of 6-10.
The Giants look to return to relevance in the division and the Cowboys are hoping to capture a few early division wins this season to position themselves for another playoff berth.

Action will get underway at 8:30 p.m. with veteran QB’s Eli Manning and Tony Romo squaring off under centre for their respective teams. This one should be a dandy.
New York Giants
The Giants have a lot to play for in this one as far as pride goes as the Cowboys have had their number for some time now. In fact, the G-men haven’t won a game against the Cowboys since Oct. 28, 2012 and have dropped the last four meetings between the two.
That apparent dominance should be taken with a grain of salt however, as these are division rivals and they always play close games and the Giants have lost the last four games by just a combined 20 points.

Eli Manning may have to wait for one of his favourite targets to get back as Victor Cruz is still nursing a calf injury.
The receiver suffered a season ending knee injury last year. Cruz’s presence along with emerging superstar Odell Beckham Jr. will give Manning a pair of very solid options to look to, but at this time it doesn’t look too much like Cruz will suit up for Sunday night.
Instead, look for Rueben Randle to see his share of targets, along with Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen out of the backfield.
Dallas Cowboys
Last year was a revelation for the Cowboys who finally saw the fruits of their labour come through for them.
A stockpile of studs on their O-line turned DeMarco Murray into an unstoppable force and this team ran the ball better than anyone else last season.
Murray has departed for Philadelphia, so in comes Darren McFadden and Julius Randle to likely prove that almost anyone can run behind that line.
Cowboys QB Tony Romo was effective throwing the ball last year thanks to the protection from his line and the ability to lean on his running back when needed.
This year expect more of the same from the Cowboys who will again use the run to set up the pass and keep Romo insulated from having to put the team on his back.
This holds especially true as Dez Bryant is the only legitimate receiver this team has. Romo still goes to his safety blanket Jason Witten from time to time, but on any big play, Romo is looking for Dez and no one else.

The big question for the Cowboys this year will be whether their underwhelming defense can overachieve as they did last season.
The Boys were pegged to be one of the worst defenses in the league but held up fairly well, but that can be attributed to the offense pounding the ball for long drives and keeping the D off the field.
Demarcus Ware is gone, but Dallas will get veteran linebacker Sean Lee back in the lineup after missing all of last season.
NFL Betting Trends:
• Over is 7-3 in NYG last 10 games overall

• DAL are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in September.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: NYG +6
Four of the last five games between these two teams have been settled by five points or less. I think that the six point spread in Dallas’ favour is a bit generous and that this one likely comes down to a field goal late or a come from behind TD drive to seal a four point victory.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Dallas 27 – New York 23
A back and forth tilt will be settled in the fourth quarter with the home team coming out victorious thanks to a late game TD.
