Chiefs vs. Broncos Gameday
The Kansas City Chiefs visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 1, 2026, for a Week 8 AFC West showdown at Empower Field at Mile High. Kickoff is set for 4:25 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+.

Kansas City finally lost a game, and Denver would love to make losing a weekly habit.
Sean Payton’s Broncos are 5-2 and unbeaten in 3 home games. They’ve won 3 straight, putting themselves in position to challenge Kansas City for the division lead.
The Chiefs won the first meeting 31-10 at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 1. That was a convincing performance, but Denver has looked considerably more competitive since.

Kansas City has relied on a balanced offense and disciplined defense. Denver counters with an aggressive defensive front and a home crowd that won’t be particularly welcoming.

The Chiefs are 3-1 over their L4, defeating Miami 24-10, Las Vegas 30-27 and the Chargers 22-6. Their latest game was an ugly 20-3 loss to Seattle.

Kansas City has been dependable away from home, although its latest road trip exposed some offensive problems. The Chiefs need a more disciplined performance against another strong defense.
Denver has been particularly effective at Mile High. The Broncos have made visiting teams work for their points, and that home-field advantage matters in a matchup this close.
The spread sits below a field goal, so one late scoring drive could settle both the game and the cover. Neither team can afford to waste opportunities in opposing territory.

Denver averages 20.6 PPG and 270.0 total YPG. Its passing attack generates 175.1 YPG, leaving the Broncos near the bottom of the league in that category.
J.K. Dobbins leads the backfield with 293 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Jaylen Waddle has contributed 26 receptions for 276 yards, providing a dangerous option outside.
Denver’s defense keeps doing the heavy lifting, which is fortunate because the offense hasn’t volunteered much help.
The Broncos allow 20.1 PPG and lead the NFL with 21 sacks. Their defense has also collected 7 interceptions, creating problems for opposing passing attacks.
Zach Allen has recorded 4.5 sacks, while Nik Bonitto has contributed 3.5. Both have been important pieces of Denver’s aggressive defensive front.
Pat Surtain II practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday despite an ankle injury. His progress is encouraging for a secondary preparing to face Kansas City’s receiving options.
Waddle and Allen returned to limited practice Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session. Talanoa Hufanga remained sidelined with an ankle injury, leaving his availability uncertain.
Chiefs Stats From Last Week
Kansas City averages 23.8 PPG and 379.8 total YPG. The Chiefs have generally moved the football effectively, although their latest outing exposed some serious problems finishing drives.
Kenneth Walker leads the rushing attack with 701 yards and 6 TDs on 120 carries. His 5.8 yards per attempt has given Kansas City a dependable source of explosive plays.
Travis Kelce has caught 24 passes for 343 yards and 2 TDs. He remains a valuable target when the Chiefs need a reliable gain.
Defensively, Kansas City allows just 17.2 PPG, ranking among the NFL’s strongest scoring defenses. The Chiefs have recorded 6 interceptions and own a +5 turnover differential.
The pass rush has produced 8 sacks, but Kansas City has compensated with disciplined coverage and strong situational play. Opponents have struggled to turn possessions into points.
Rashee Rice was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday with hamstring and knee concerns. His availability could affect the Chiefs’ receiving rotation.
Mahomes participated fully despite a knee designation, while Kelce was limited Thursday with an ankle issue. Kansas City needs its offensive contributors ready for Denver’s physical defense.

Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 1,474 yards, 9 TDs and 4 interceptions through 6 games. He’s completed 124 of 191 attempts, giving Kansas City a 64.9% completion rate.
Mahomes continues to manage a knee issue, although he has participated fully in practice. His mobility and timing remain important against Denver’s pass rush.
The Chiefs QB has gone 2 straight games without a passing TD. That’s an unusual stretch for a player accustomed to producing in scoring situations.
Mahomes remains dangerous when extending plays and recognizing defensive adjustments. His experience allows Kansas City to change its approach when opponents disguise coverage.
Bo Nix counters with 1,271 passing yards, 7 TDs and 3 interceptions through 7 games. He’s completed 129 of 218 attempts, a 59.2% completion rate.
Nix threw for 222 yards and a TD against Arizona. His performance helped Denver continue its winning streak despite an inconsistent passing attack.

Nix has added 110 rushing yards and 2 TDs, giving Denver another option when passing plays break down. His mobility can extend possessions when protection fails.
Mahomes has the advantage in passing production, while Nix benefits from playing at home. Both QBs need to recognize defensive pressure and avoid costly mistakes.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos bottom line: Mahomes brings the stronger passing résumé, while Nix must make the most of Denver’s home-field advantage against a disciplined Chiefs defense.

Chiefs Broncos Free Pick: Chiefs -1.5
Here is my Chiefs Broncos free pick: I’m laying Chiefs -1.5. Kansas City got punched in the mouth by Seattle, and I’m betting Andy Reid gets a much better response from his offense this Sunday. Denver’s defense can make life miserable, but Kenneth Walker gives the Chiefs a way to attack without asking Patrick Mahomes to throw on every down.
That’s important against a pass rush that feeds on obvious passing situations.
Reid has had a week to fix that Seattle embarrassment, and another 3-point afternoon isn’t much of a game plan.
I’m looking for Kansas City to establish the run early, force Denver to respect play-action and give Mahomes manageable third downs. That approach also keeps the Broncos from turning this into a field-position grind.
The number is what seals it for me. Denver deserves respect at Mile High, but I only need KC to win by a FG, not put on an offensive clinic.
I’m expecting a nasty, physical game with neither side giving much away.
When the fourth quarter gets tight, I trust Reid to find the better answers.
I’m laying Chiefs -1.5.
