2026 NFL Handicapping – Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Here’s why I’m backing Tampa Bay -2.5 bet below in my Falcons Buccaneers free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Falcons vs. Buccaneers Gameday
The Atlanta Falcons visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, November 1, 2026, for a Week 8 NFC South showdown at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM ET on FOX, with rain possible in Tampa.
Atlanta enters at 3-4 under Kevin Stefanski, including a 2-1 road record. The Falcons have been dangerous offensively but haven’t put together enough complete performances.
Atlanta has the better record, but Tampa Bay finally remembered what winning football looks like.
Todd Bowles’ Buccaneers are 2-5 after a rough start. Their latest performance offered some encouragement, although one convincing win doesn’t erase an ugly opening stretch.
The Falcons are coming off a 29-20 victory over previously unbeaten San Francisco. It was an impressive response from a team that badly needed one.
Tampa Bay hammered Carolina 43-13 in its previous outing. The Buccaneers controlled the game on the ground and gave their fans something to cheer about for a change.
Atlanta won the previous meeting 29-28 in December 2025, while Tampa Bay took the earlier matchup 23-20. The Falcons lead the all-time series 33-32.
The previous 6 meetings have been decided by 6 points or fewer. These division rivals have made close finishes a habit, regardless of what the standings suggest.
It’s Week 8, Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Odds & Previous Games
Tampa Bay opened as a 2.5-point favorite with a -137 moneyline, while Atlanta returned +116. The total is 45.5 points, giving the Buccaneers a narrow edge at home.
The Falcons are 2-3 over their L5, beating New Orleans 45-24 and San Francisco 29-20. They lost to Chicago 31-23 and Baltimore 30-23, with a 35-14 win over Green Bay completing that stretch.
The Buccaneers are also 2-3 over their L5, defeating Dallas 24-16 and Carolina 43-13. Their losses came against Minnesota 23-16, Green Bay 17-14 and Pittsburgh 26-19.
Atlanta has shown it can produce explosive scoring performances. The problem has been maintaining that production from one week to the next.
Tampa Bay has struggled to finish competitive games. The Buccaneers have been close against several opponents without finding enough winning plays.
With less than a field goal separating these teams, the number leaves little room for mistakes. Fourth-quarter execution could decide which side covers.

Buccaneers Stats
Tampa Bay has scored 162 points through 7 games, averaging 23.1 PPG. The Buccaneers generate 296.9 total YPG, ranking 26th in the NFL.
Bucky Irving leads the backfield with 558 rushing yards and 4 TDs. He’s provided dependable production for an offense that hasn’t always found success through the air.
The Buccaneers average 146.4 rushing YPG, ranking 3rd in the league. Their ability to establish the run has been one of the team’s brighter spots.
Tampa Bay’s ground game is doing its job, even if the passing attack hasn’t always joined the party.
Defensively, the Buccaneers allow 21.6 PPG and just 294.7 total YPG. Their run defense ranks 2nd, surrendering only 77.3 rushing YPG.
Tampa Bay has recorded 8 interceptions, tied for 2nd in the NFL. Those takeaways have helped compensate for an offense that hasn’t consistently finished drives.
The defensive front has produced 10 sacks over its previous 2 games. That recent pressure has given opposing QBs plenty to think about.
Emeka Egbuka has been limited with concussion and foot concerns, while Luke Goedeke has missed practice with a calf injury. Antoine Winfield Jr. and Baker Mayfield practiced fully Thursday.
Falcons Stats
Atlanta averages 337.3 total YPG, including 149.5 rushing YPG. The Falcons rank 4th in rushing offense, giving them a strong foundation behind their offensive line.
Bijan Robinson leads the team with 704 rushing yards and 4 TDs. He’s also contributed as a receiver, bringing his total to 907 yards from scrimmage.
The Falcons have scored 171 points, averaging 24.4 PPG. Their offense has improved considerably over the previous several weeks.
Defensively, Atlanta allows 344.4 total YPG and 24.7 PPG. The Falcons have been stronger against the run than the pass, surrendering 255.6 passing YPG.
Atlanta has recorded 17 sacks and 3 interceptions. The defense needs more consistent pressure to help a secondary that has struggled against productive passing attacks.
Brian Robinson has missed practice with a hamstring injury, while Jawaan Taylor has been limited with his own hamstring issue. Those concerns could affect Atlanta’s offensive depth.
Divine Deablo has also been dealing with a forearm injury. The Falcons need their available defenders ready for another demanding division matchup.
Falcons vs. Buccaneers QB Matchup
Baker Mayfield has thrown for 679 yards, 3 TDs and 2 interceptions in 4 appearances this season. Injuries have interrupted his campaign, but he returned against Carolina.
Mayfield completed 7 of 11 passes for 64 yards and a TD in that victory. Tampa Bay didn’t need much passing production with its rushing attack controlling the afternoon.
The veteran has completed 68 of 107 attempts this season. His experience helps when identifying coverage and adjusting protections before the snap.
Mayfield has been dealing with a right thumb injury but participated fully in practice Wednesday and Thursday. His availability remains important to Tampa Bay’s offensive plans.
Atlanta counters with Michael Penix Jr., who has thrown for 1,157 yards, 9 TDs and 1 interception. He’s been productive when healthy and has protected the football well.
Penix threw for 213 yards and 3 TDs against San Francisco. His accuracy and willingness to challenge coverage helped Atlanta pull off the upset.
The Falcons QB has a strong arm and can attack defenses outside the numbers. He’ll need to recognize pressure and avoid holding the football too long.

Penix has the advantage in passing production, while Mayfield brings more NFL experience. Both QBs have the ability to challenge opposing secondaries when given enough protection.
Mayfield’s thumb and Penix’s ability to handle pressure are important factors entering Sunday. Neither offense can afford careless turnovers in a game expected to be competitive.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers bottom line: Tampa Bay’s defensive front faces a productive Atlanta offense, with both QBs needing sharp decisions to keep their teams in control.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football Betting Trends

- The Falcons have also performed well straight up as underdogs, with a 3-1 record in their last 4 regular season games.
- Additionally, the over has hit in 4 of Atlanta’s last 5 regular season games.
- Tampa Bay has struggled against the spread as favorites, with an 0-3 record in their last 3 regular season games.
- Also, the Buccaneers have not fared well straight up at home, going 2-6 in their last 8 regular season matchups.
- The over has been consistent for Tampa Bay after a win, hitting in all 3 of their last regular season games.
Falcons Buccaneers Free Pick: Buccaneers -2.5
Here is my Falcons Buccaneers free pick: I’m laying Buccaneers -2.5. Tampa Bay has been a disappointment this season, but I like the matchup at home against an Atlanta team that hasn’t been nearly as dependable as its occasional offensive explosions suggest. The Buccaneers have the defensive front to make Atlanta work for every first down.
If they take away the easy runs early, the Falcons will have to earn their points through longer, tougher possessions.
Atlanta can put points up in a hurry, but Tampa Bay isn’t obligated to make it easy.
There’s another reason I like this spot: Tampa Bay is coming off its most convincing performance of the season. That doesn’t erase the earlier losses, but it gives the Buccaneers something to build on against a division opponent.
The number is the attraction here. I’m laying less than a field goal with a home team that can win the line of scrimmage, and I don’t need a spectacular offensive afternoon to collect.
Atlanta has enough talent to make this uncomfortable, so I’m not expecting a walkover.
I expect Tampa Bay to win the physical battles and finish a close one.
Put me down for Buccaneers -2.5.
