Patriots vs. Bears Gameday
The New England Patriots visit the Chicago Bears on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Soldier Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on Amazon Prime Video. Both teams enter this Week 7 matchup with identical 4-2 records.
New England has won three straight under head coach Mike Vrabel. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has helped get the attack moving after an uneven start to the season.
The Patriots are starting to look like a team worth taking seriously again.
Two winning teams meet at Soldier Field, with both coaching staffs facing a demanding short-week assignment.
Chicago enters under second-year head coach Ben Johnson, looking to build on its latest victory. The Bears are 2-1 at Soldier Field and have shown considerable offensive potential when healthy. They’re also trying to establish consistency in a competitive NFC North.
New England is 1-2 away from home, so Thursday presents another opportunity to prove its recent improvement travels. Chicago would love to make Soldier Field considerably less welcoming.
Neither team has much time to prepare, and that’s rarely a coach’s favorite scheduling arrangement.
It’s Week 7, New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears, hopefully we get a great matchup.

New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears Odds & Previous Games
Chicago opened as the -160 moneyline favorite, with New England priced at +133. The Bears are laying three points at home, while the Patriots are getting three. The opening total is 50.5 points.
New England has won four of its last five games, defeating Pittsburgh 20-3, Buffalo 29-26 and Las Vegas 45-17. The Patriots also beat the Jets 26-19, with their lone loss during that stretch coming against Jacksonville, 35-6.
That’s a considerable improvement from the way their season started.
Chicago has won three of its last five, beating Philadelphia 27-7, the Jets 23-12 and Atlanta 31-23. The Bears also suffered losses to Minnesota 9-3 and Green Bay 31-7, demonstrating how quickly their performances can swing.

Bears Stats From Last Week
Chicago averages 388.3 total offensive yards per game, ranking fifth in the NFL. The Bears lead the league with 160.7 rushing yards per contest, giving Johnson a productive ground attack to build around. That balance makes them difficult to defend when their running game establishes momentum.
D’Andre Swift has contributed 398 rushing yards and six touchdowns this season. His ability to attack different running lanes has made him an important part of Chicago’s offensive production.
Swift has given this backfield some much-needed punch.
Chicago’s ground game has become a legitimate strength, but its defensive consistency still deserves scrutiny.
Defensively, the Bears have allowed 302.3 total yards and 19.8 points per game. They’ve recorded 17 sacks, giving defensive coordinator Dennis Allen a front capable of creating problems for opposing quarterbacks.
Chicago will be without linebacker Jack Sanborn, who has been ruled out with a concussion. T.J. Edwards is doubtful with a hamstring injury, while defensive back Tyrique Stevenson is questionable.
Those linebacker concerns make communication and tackling particularly important against New England’s balanced attack.
Patriots Stats From Last Week
New England averages 374.2 offensive yards per game, ranking seventh in the league. The Patriots produce 243.5 passing yards and 130.7 rushing yards per contest. McDaniels has enough versatility to adjust his approach depending on the defensive look.
Rhamondre Stevenson leads the rushing attack with 263 yards, while TreVeyon Henderson has contributed another 194. That combination gives New England different options when attacking the line of scrimmage.
Neither back needs a complicated game plan to be effective.
DeMario Douglas has caught 20 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns. Romeo Doubs leads the receiving group with 261 yards, although his shoulder injury has placed him on injured reserve.
Defensively, the Patriots have surrendered 300.8 yards and 18.8 points per game. Their front has generally performed well against the run, allowing 91.8 rushing yards per contest.
The secondary is another story heading into Thursday. Carlton Davis III, Channing Canada and Karon Prunty have all been ruled out, while safeties Kevin Byard III and Craig Woodson are questionable.
Vrabel has some serious personnel decisions to make against Chicago’s receiving corps.
Patriots vs. Bears QB Matchup
Caleb Williams returned from a three-game hamstring absence with an impressive performance against Atlanta. He completed 30 of 36 passes for 305 yards and one touchdown. His accuracy was a major reason Chicago was able to move the football consistently.
Through three appearances, Williams has thrown for 712 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He’s completed 72.5% of his passes, showing improved efficiency when healthy.
Now he needs to deliver against a defense that will test his decision-making.
Williams completed all 24 of his passes when operating without pressure against Atlanta. That performance demonstrated how dangerous he can be when given time to identify coverage and find open receivers.
Drake Maye has thrown for 1,463 yards through six games, recording 11 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He’s completed 63.9% of his passes and has shown the arm strength to challenge defenses downfield.
Maye’s willingness to attack tight windows creates opportunities, but it can also produce costly mistakes. He’ll need to recognize Chicago’s coverage disguises and avoid forcing throws into traffic.

Maye has also rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown, giving New England another option when passing plays break down. His mobility forces defenders to maintain containment rather than committing entirely to coverage.
Williams offers similar improvisational ability, particularly when he escapes the pocket and extends plays. Both quarterbacks can punish defenses that lose discipline once the original play breaks down.
The difference may come down to decision-making under pressure. Williams must remain sharp against New England’s defensive adjustments, while Maye needs to protect the football against an opportunistic Chicago defense.
Neither quarterback lacks confidence, and both have the talent to take over stretches of this matchup.
New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears bottom line: Both quarterbacks can create problems for opposing defenses, setting up a compelling Thursday night battle between two winning teams.
New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears Football Betting Trends
- The Patriots have gone 5-2 straight up in their last 7 away games during the regular season.
- New England is 4-2 on the over in their last 6 games as an underdog in the regular season.
- Also, the Bears have a 6-2 straight up record in their last 8 home games during the regular season.
- Chicago is 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 home games in the regular season.
- Additionally, the Patriots are 12-3 straight up in their last 15 regular season games.
- The Bears are 7-3 straight up in their last 10 games as a favorite in the regular season.
Patriots Bears Free Pick: Over 50.5
Here is my Patriots Bears free pick: Over 50.5. This is a big Thursday night total, but the short week gives both coaching staffs less time to patch their problems. I’m betting those weaknesses show up on the scoreboard. New England’s offensive line is missing two starters, which could force quicker throws and more aggressive play-calling.
Chicago doesn’t need to dominate possession if it can turn a few short fields into touchdowns.
That’s where this total gets interesting.
One defensive breakdown or short-field touchdown can change the scoring pace in a hurry.
I’m not banking on four quarters of perfect execution. Give me a couple of explosive scoring possessions and one defensive mistake that costs seven points.
A slow opening quarter wouldn’t scare me, but three-and-outs all night certainly would. I expect enough sustained scoring to keep 50.5 within reach. This number demands touchdowns, and I’m backing both teams to deliver enough of them.
My bet is Over 50.5.
