Bears vs. Falcons Gameday
The Chicago Bears visit the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on FOX. This Week 6 NFC matchup features Chicago at 3-2 and Atlanta at 2-3.
Ben Johnson’s Bears are 1-1 on the road and trying to recover from a difficult loss in Green Bay. Press Taylor directs the offense, while Dennis Allen coordinates Chicago’s defense.
Chicago remains in the NFC North race despite an uneven start.
Chicago has the stronger record, but Atlanta’s ground game presents a difficult road test.
Kevin Stefanski’s Falcons are searching for consistency after losing a close game to Baltimore. Tommy Rees runs Atlanta’s offense, while Jeff Ulbrich oversees a defense that has been stronger against the run than the pass.
The Falcons have shown they can score against quality opponents. Their problem has been sustaining that execution from one week to the next. Stefanski needs a more complete performance from his team.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s retractable roof makes outdoor weather a secondary concern.
Week 6, Chicago Bears vs. Atlanta Falcons, we’re all hoping a great game is in store.

Falcons Stats
Atlanta averages 23.8 points and 361.8 offensive yards per game. The Falcons rank among the league leaders in rushing at 166.8 yards per contest. Their ability to establish the ground game remains a major strength. Bijan Robinson has rushed for 580 yards and four TD’s. Drake London leads Atlanta’s receiving group with 488 yards.
The Falcons have rushed for eight TD’s through five games.
Atlanta has the personnel to control the ground game, but its secondary remains a concern.
Defensively, Atlanta allows 24.4 points per game. The Falcons surrender 80.2 rushing yards per contest but have struggled against opposing passing attacks.
Atlanta has recorded 11 sacks and only one interception. Its defensive front has been more reliable than the secondary.
Michael Penix Jr. practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday despite his rib injury.
Za’Darius Smith was limited Thursday after clearing concussion protocol, while C.J. Henderson missed practice with a groin injury. Final game designations remain pending.
Bears Stats
Chicago averages 392.4 offensive yards per game, ranking seventh in the NFL. The Bears lead the league in rushing at 173.2 yards per contest. Their offense has scored 119 points through five games.
D’Andre Swift leads Chicago with 354 rushing yards and four TD’s. Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III provide receiving options capable of stretching the field.
The Bears lead the NFL in average time of possession.
Defensively, Chicago allows 19.2 points and 311.4 yards per game. The Bears have recorded 12 sacks and three interceptions. Chicago’s defense has been effective limiting scoring opportunities. Its ability to control possessions has helped compensate for uneven offensive production.
Caleb Williams practiced fully Thursday while recovering from a hamstring injury, but his starting status remains unresolved. T.J. Edwards, Keyshaun Elliott, Kyle Monangai and Dayo Odeyingbo did not practice, while Kyler Gordon participated fully.
Montez Sweat remains unavailable because of suspension.
Bears vs. Falcons QB Matchup
Michael Penix Jr. is expected to start for Atlanta after recovering from a rib injury. He has thrown for 719 yards, three TD’s and one interception in three appearances. His 67.5% completion rate reflects improved efficiency since returning to the lineup. Penix completed 19 of 32 passes for 240 yards against Baltimore. He threw one TD without an interception before leaving late with his injury. His full practice participation is an encouraging sign.
Caleb Williams has thrown for 407 yards, two TD’s and one interception in two games. He suffered a hamstring injury against Minnesota and has missed Chicago’s last three contests.
Williams participated fully Thursday but still needs final medical clearance. Ben Johnson has not publicly confirmed his Week 6 starter.
Chicago could turn to Tyson Bagent or Case Keenum if Williams cannot play.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Williams offers Chicago greater mobility and improvisation if cleared. His ability to escape pressure could help against an Atlanta secondary vulnerable to explosive passing plays.
Penix faces a Bears defense that has been effective limiting points. He needs to identify pressure quickly and avoid unnecessary hits.
Both quarterbacks enter with questions about their health.
Atlanta has greater clarity about its likely starter, although Penix must show he can handle contact comfortably. Chicago’s offensive approach will depend heavily on its final quarterback decision.
That uncertainty could influence how aggressively both teams attack early in the game.
Chicago Bears vs. Atlanta Falcons bottom line: Atlanta’s rushing strength and improving quarterback health give the Falcons a competitive matchup against a Chicago team still sorting out its most important offensive position.

Bears Falcons Free Pick: Falcons +3
Here is my Bears Falcons free pick: I’m taking Atlanta Falcons +3. Chicago is the better team on paper, but asking the Bears to cover a road FG with Caleb Williams returning from a hamstring injury is a different proposition. I want the points, not the prettier record.
Atlanta has covered seven of its last 10 games as an underdog. That’s a useful historical angle, but the full FG and the matchup are doing the heavy lifting for me.
The Falcons need to make Chicago earn its rushing yards.
I’m backing the home underdog because Chicago’s path to covering depends on more than simply winning.
Atlanta has the defensive front to make the Bears work on early downs, and that creates longer third-down situations for a QB returning from injury. Williams might be cleared, but I’m not assuming his mobility is immediately back to normal. That matters against a defense capable of bringing pressure.
The Falcons also need to protect the football and avoid handing Chicago cheap scoring chances. A couple of careless turnovers would wipe out the value of taking three points.
I’m on Falcons +3. Stefanski has a home dog, a healthy enough Penix, and a defense capable of making Chicago’s afternoon miserable.
I’ll take that setup all day over laying road chalk with a QB coming off a bad hamstring.
The Bears haven’t earned that kind of respect from my bankroll.
