2027 Super Bowl Futures
2027 Super Bowl Odds have the San Francisco 49ers favored at +550, followed by the Buffalo Bills at +720 and Kansas City Chiefs at +800. San Francisco deserves the top spot, but I’m not paying the shortest price on the board simply because a team looks terrific in October. There’s a difference between identifying the best team and finding a championship bet worth making.
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The division races are developing, the playoff picture remains unsettled, and several contenders still have weaknesses that January opponents will exploit.
Some of these numbers make sense. Others are asking bettors to pay for a championship reputation that hasn’t been earned this season.
Senior Handicapper, CappersPicks.com
I’ve spent decades handicapping NFL football, and championship futures demand a different approach than picking Sunday’s games. You’re evaluating a team’s ability to survive January and win the biggest game of the season. I’ll tell you which contenders I respect, which prices bother me and where I’d keep my money in my pocket.

Odds updated: October 19, 2026. Reference prices only; current sportsbook odds may differ.
The first six teams have legitimate championship arguments, but I wouldn’t treat them as interchangeable. San Francisco offers the strongest current case, Buffalo and Kansas City bring proven quarterback advantages, and Seattle has a defensive foundation capable of winning playoff games.
Jacksonville at +1400 is where I start questioning the order.
The Jaguars are priced ahead of several established contenders, and that’s a lot of confidence in a team still proving it can deliver consistently on both sides of the ball. There’s enough talent to make Jacksonville dangerous, but the defensive consistency has to improve before I’d consider that price attractive.
A team can deserve its place among the favorites and still be overpriced. I handicap the football first, then decide whether the number gives me enough reason to bet.
Last 10 Super Bowl Champions and Final Scores
Championship history provides useful perspective. Kansas City has won three of the last 10 Super Bowls, New England has won two, and Seattle enters this season as the defending champion.
- 2026 — Super Bowl LX: Seattle Seahawks 29, New England Patriots 13
- 2025 — Super Bowl LIX: Philadelphia Eagles 40, Kansas City Chiefs 22
- 2024 — Super Bowl LVIII: Kansas City Chiefs 25, San Francisco 49ers 22 (OT)
- 2023 — Super Bowl LVII: Kansas City Chiefs 38, Philadelphia Eagles 35
- 2022 — Super Bowl LVI: Los Angeles Rams 23, Cincinnati Bengals 20
- 2021 — Super Bowl LV: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, Kansas City Chiefs 9
- 2020 — Super Bowl LIV: Kansas City Chiefs 31, San Francisco 49ers 20
- 2019 — Super Bowl LIII: New England Patriots 13, Los Angeles Rams 3
- 2018 — Super Bowl LII: Philadelphia Eagles 41, New England Patriots 33
- 2017 — Super Bowl LI: New England Patriots 34, Atlanta Falcons 28 (OT)
Those winners didn’t follow one formula. Some relied on elite quarterbacks, while others controlled games with defense, field position and physical play.
Seattle’s 29-13 victory over New England last February is the freshest example.
The Seahawks recorded six sacks and forced two interceptions, turning the championship into a miserable afternoon for Drake Maye. That’s why I put so much weight on whether a contender can disrupt an opponent’s offense when the stakes rise.
2027 Super Bowl Odds: Handicapping the Favorites
San Francisco 49ers +550 — The Team to Beat
San Francisco deserves the favorite’s position. The 49ers have established themselves as the NFC standard, and their ability to control the tempo of games makes them difficult to beat when they’re executing.
But +550 is expensive in October.
Bettors see a team playing outstanding football and start treating the playoff route as a formality. San Francisco still has to win its division, protect its important personnel and handle strong NFC opponents. The best team today isn’t guaranteed to have the easiest road in January.
I’m comfortable calling the 49ers the favorite. I’m considerably less comfortable paying +550 for a championship that remains months away.
Buffalo Bills +720 — Josh Allen Changes Everything
Josh Allen gives Buffalo a chance against practically anybody. His arm strength forces defenses to respect the entire field, while his running ability creates problems near the goal line that conventional quarterbacks simply don’t present.
That combination becomes especially important when playoff defenses eliminate the first read.
Allen can turn a broken possession into a first down without waiting for the perfect play call. My hesitation is the AFC competition, where Kansas City and Baltimore can force Buffalo into different kinds of games. The Bills can’t expect every January matchup to turn into an offensive showcase.
I respect Buffalo’s ceiling. At +720, I still want a better reason to commit than Allen’s talent alone.
Kansas City Chiefs +800 — Mahomes Still Commands Respect
Patrick Mahomes has three Super Bowl rings, and Andy Reid knows how to adjust when an opponent takes away Kansas City’s preferred offensive approach. That’s a serious advantage in a playoff environment where defenses have time to prepare.
I’ve watched the Chiefs win games without looking particularly impressive.
They can survive difficult stretches because Mahomes doesn’t need everything around him to function perfectly. Kansas City has to navigate the same difficult AFC field as everybody else, though, and I won’t treat past trophies as a substitute for current performance.
The Chiefs belong near the top. Their reputation doesn’t make every available price worth taking.
Baltimore Ravens +900 — Prove It When the Offense Stalls
Lamar Jackson remains one of football’s most difficult quarterbacks to defend. His mobility changes defensive assignments, creates rushing opportunities and punishes opponents that lose discipline.
Then Baltimore goes to Cleveland and loses 13-10, scoring just 10 points against a division rival.
That’s a troubling performance for a team sitting fourth on the championship board. I don’t overreact to one loss, but I pay attention when a contender struggles to manufacture offense against a disciplined opponent. Baltimore needs to show it can recover when its running game isn’t controlling the situation and Jackson has to carry the passing attack.
At +900, the Ravens are being priced like a championship-ready team. I want championship-ready offensive execution.
Seattle Seahawks +1100 — Don’t Dismiss the Defending Champions
Seattle’s championship defense wasn’t built around one pass rusher getting hot. Mike Macdonald created pressure from different positions, disguised coverage and made opposing quarterbacks work through uncomfortable decisions.
That defensive structure is a legitimate January weapon.
Seattle’s 17-14 loss at Denver on October 15 exposed the other side of the equation. When the offense can’t finish drives, even a terrific defense has very little margin for error. The Seahawks need enough scoring consistency to avoid turning every difficult matchup into a three-point game.
Of the contenders behind the top four, Seattle earns my respect because its championship identity is established. The offense determines whether +1100 is attractive.
Los Angeles Rams +1200 — A Bigger Payout Doesn’t Fix the Football
The Rams’ 18-16 home loss to Arizona on October 18 made their situation more uncomfortable. Losing games like that damages playoff positioning and increases the possibility of a difficult postseason route.
Los Angeles has the coaching experience to make adjustments.
Experienced coaching can’t automatically erase inconsistent execution, and a championship future needs more than the promise that things might improve. Some bettors see +1200 and remember when the Rams were priced shorter. I see a team that has to start winning the games it’s supposed to win.
I’ll reconsider Los Angeles when its performance gives me a reason. The number alone isn’t enough.
I’ve never understood automatically loving a team more because its odds got longer. If the football is deteriorating faster than the payout is improving, there’s no bargain.
Super Bowl Futures Odds: Four Contenders Outside the Top Six
Jacksonville Jaguars +1400 — Too Much Credit, Too Soon
Jacksonville is seventh on the championship board, and that’s an aggressive position. The Jaguars have offensive potential, but I’m not putting them in the same class as Buffalo or Kansas City yet.
Allowing 34 points in a 34-31 loss to Houston on October 18 is a reminder of why.
Jacksonville can score, but a championship contender must also make stops when an opponent has the personnel to attack its weaknesses. At +1400, the price demands more defensive reliability than I’m seeing.
Chicago Bears +1600 — Progress With a Price Tag
Chicago’s 31-23 win at Atlanta gives the Bears another result to build on. They’re earning attention, and I like the direction of the team.
But there’s a difference between becoming competitive and winning three or four postseason games.
Playoff opponents have the talent and preparation time to punish tendencies that ordinary regular-season opponents sometimes overlook. The Bears are improving, but I don’t think +1600 offers much room for the mistakes that come with learning how to win in January.
New England Patriots +1800 — Remember the Super Bowl
New England reached Super Bowl LX, but Seattle exposed its offensive protection problems in a big way. Drake Maye spent too much of that game dealing with pressure instead of controlling the offense.
That experience should help Maye develop.
It also gives future opponents a clear example of how to disrupt New England when the offensive line can’t hold up. I’m not dismissing the Patriots, but their championship case needs to include an answer to what happened last February.
Detroit Lions +2600 — Worth Watching at a Longer Number
Detroit at +2600 is more interesting to me than several shorter-priced outsiders. The potential return provides room for a bettor who believes the Lions can improve enough to become a legitimate NFC threat.
But the offensive reputation isn’t sufficient by itself.
Detroit needs to handle playoff-caliber defenses, win physical games and avoid the kind of mistakes that turn promising drives into empty possessions. That’s the difference between having enough talent to make the postseason and having the discipline to survive it.
Our Handicapping coverage goes deeper into the teams and matchups that can change the futures picture. For Detroit, I’m interested in identifying real improvement that could make the Lions dangerous, not buying a longshot because the payout looks impressive.

Comparing 2027 Super Bowl Odds at Sportsbooks
Championship futures prices can vary between sportsbooks, especially as teams move up or down the standings. Before betting, compare the available numbers through our Sportsbooks page.
If I’m backing a team to win it all, I’m taking the best available price.
A big payout doesn’t rescue a bad football handicap. If you can’t make a convincing case for a team winning the championship, the extra zeros won’t help.
When Should You Bet NFL Championship Futures?
October can offer opportunities when a good team suffers a misleading loss and its odds drift. But you have to distinguish a temporary problem from something opponents can repeatedly exploit.
A contender losing because of a couple of turnovers is one situation.
A contender repeatedly failing to protect its QB or stop the run is another, and the second problem becomes more dangerous against playoff competition. That’s when an attractive price can turn into a trap.
Waiting until December gives you better information about playoff positioning and personnel, although the odds may be shorter. I don’t believe in forcing an early futures bet simply to own a ticket before everybody else.
Five Things I Check Before Betting Super Bowl Futures
These are the five questions I consider before committing money to a championship future. A team doesn’t need to be perfect, but it needs credible answers in the areas that decide postseason games.
- Quarterback under pressure
Can the QB make difficult throws when protection breaks down, the running game stalls or the defense takes away his favorite option? - Defensive flexibility
Can the defense create pressure, disguise coverage and tackle reliably without depending on one favorable matchup? - Postseason route
Division position, home-field advantage and a possible first-round bye can change a team’s championship chances considerably. - Exploitable weaknesses
Pass protection, run defense, red-zone execution and depth become more important against opponents capable of attacking them repeatedly. - Price versus probability
The odds must offer enough return for the championship chance you assign. Being a good team isn’t sufficient.
Remember that futures money can remain committed until February.
I also check the sportsbook’s settlement and cash-out rules, because availability and restrictions differ by operator. Never assume an early exit will be offered.

A winning $100 bet at +1200 earns $1,200 profit and returns $1,300 including the original bet.
Does a Super Bowl future win if my team reaches the game?
No. An outright Super Bowl winner bet requires your team to win the championship. Conference winner bets are separate selections.
Can I cash out an NFL futures bet early?
Some sportsbooks offer cash-out on eligible futures, but availability and amounts vary. Never assume that option will be available when you want it.
Recommended Sportsbooks for Super Bowl Futures
Compare the current Super Bowl betting odds before making a decision. MyBookie, Bovada, BetOnline, XBet and SportsBetting.ag are the sportsbooks featured in our current lineup, although prices, eligibility and available bet types vary by operator and location.
Always compare the same championship selection at the available odds. Getting +1200 instead of +1100 means another $100 in potential profit on a winning $100 bet.
Razor’s Final Take on the 2027 Super Bowl Odds
San Francisco has earned the favorite’s position, but +550 leaves little room for anything to go wrong. Buffalo and Kansas City have quarterbacks capable of winning the championship, while Baltimore needs to show me more offensive reliability before I’ll trust the Ravens at a short futures price.
Seattle is the contender I respect for its defensive identity.
Jacksonville is the team I believe is receiving too much championship credit, and Detroit offers a more interesting longer-priced conversation if its football improves in the right areas. Neither team gets my money based on potential alone.
I’m not forcing a Super Bowl bet in October.
There are good teams on this board, but the number has to justify the risk. A few of these prices are already asking bettors to pay for a championship that hasn’t been earned.
“
RAZOR RAY’S TAKE: October tells you who’s playing the best football right now. January tells you who can handle a playoff opponent taking away everything that worked in October. I respect the 49ers, I trust Mahomes in big games, and I’m not dismissing Seattle’s defense because of one ugly result. But I won’t let a team’s reputation do the handicapping for me. That’s an expensive habit.
