Colts vs. Steelers Gameday
Two 2-2 teams, one uncomfortable afternoon in Pittsburgh.
The Indianapolis Colts visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on CBS, with both clubs looking to move above .500 in Week 5. Neither has established much separation in its division, making this a useful early-season measuring stick.
Shane Steichen’s Colts arrive after beating Washington 30-13 in London. Indianapolis has recovered from an 0-2 start, and coordinators Jim Bob Cooter and Lou Anarumo have helped keep the club competitive through an uneven opening month.
Indianapolis has found its footing, but Pittsburgh is rarely a comfortable place to test your newfound confidence.
Mike McCarthy’s Steelers are unbeaten at home but coming off a frustrating road defeat against Cleveland.
Offensive coordinator Brian Angelichio and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham have helped Pittsburgh establish its identity around veteran leadership and physical play. The problem is turning that identity into four consistent quarters.
Indianapolis hasn’t enjoyed many pleasant visits to Pittsburgh over the years. The Steelers have won five straight home meetings against the Colts, and they’re hardly planning to become gracious hosts now.
It’s Week 5, Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Odds & Last 5
The opening NFL betting odds favor Pittsburgh at -140 on the moneyline, with Indianapolis returning +118. The Steelers are laying 2.5 points, while the Colts are getting 2.5. The total is 44.5 points, giving bettors an interesting number between two teams still searching for consistent performances.
Indianapolis has won consecutive games against Houston and Washington, including a convincing victory in London. The Colts also pushed Kansas City before falling 33-30, showing they can compete even when the defense isn’t particularly cooperative.
Pittsburgh recently beat Cincinnati 30-27 before losing 27-24 at Cleveland.
The Steelers surrendered a 14-point lead against the Browns, making that defeat particularly irritating for McCarthy.
The most recent head-to-head meeting ended 27-20 for Pittsburgh in November 2025 at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers forced six turnovers, including three Jones interceptions, and built a substantial lead before Indianapolis rallied late. That’s a fairly expensive way to discover the importance of protecting the football.

Steelers Stats
Pittsburgh enters with an offense averaging roughly 318 yards per game. The rushing attack has been less impressive, producing approximately 95 yards per contest.
McCarthy would undoubtedly appreciate a few more productive first downs that don’t require Rodgers to rescue the situation.
The Steelers have allowed about 22 points per game, with their pass defense surrendering roughly 210 yards per outing. Patrick Graham’s unit has collected eight takeaways, providing the kind of defensive production that can rescue an otherwise ordinary afternoon.
Jaylen Warren leads the backfield with 309 rushing yards and has contributed 13 receptions. His versatility gives Pittsburgh an option underneath when opposing defenses concentrate on the passing lanes.
DK Metcalf has 213 receiving yards and one TD, providing a physical outside target capable of winning contested catches. The Steelers haven’t consistently turned those individual strengths into a balanced attack.
Injuries complicate matters.
Michael Pittman Jr., Jamel Dean and DeShon Elliott have been ruled out. Rico Dowdle and Jalen Ramsey are questionable, leaving Pittsburgh with some uncomfortable personnel decisions. That’s a lot of juggling for a team trying to maintain its unbeaten home record.
Colts Stats
Indianapolis is averaging roughly 26 points per game despite producing approximately 284 offensive yards per contest. The Colts have been efficient around scoring opportunities, compensating for stretches when the offense struggles to sustain drives.
Jonathan Taylor has been the biggest difference-maker, entering Week 5 with 353 rushing yards and six TD’s. Against Washington, he carried 20 times for 95 yards and scored twice, providing dependable production that takes pressure off the passing attack. That’s the benefit of having a running back who doesn’t need an elaborate introduction every time he touches the football.
Defensively, Indianapolis has allowed roughly 26 points and 392 yards per game. Those numbers reveal a unit that has struggled to consistently get opponents off the field. The Colts have recorded eight sacks but only two takeaways, leaving plenty of room for improvement.
Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner anchor an interior defensive front capable of disrupting opposing offensive lines.
Buckner has three sacks, making him one of Indianapolis’ most productive defenders.
The injury report is another concern for Steichen. Defensive end Arden Key, receiver Ashton Dulin and linebacker Jaylon Carlies are out, while Keenan Allen, Darius Slayton and Charvarius Ward are questionable. Indianapolis could be short of options at several important positions.
Colts vs. Steelers QB Matchup
Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 999 yards, seven TD’s and four interceptions through Pittsburgh’s first four games. The veteran remains capable of reading coverages and exploiting favorable matchups, even if his days of routinely escaping trouble with his legs are long gone.
Rodgers has benefited from Metcalf’s ability to win outside, but the Steelers need better protection. Pittsburgh has allowed 13 sacks, and opposing defenses have found opportunities to disrupt the pocket. There’s still plenty of football intelligence in that right arm.
Daniel Jones counters with 754 passing yards, three TD’s and four interceptions through four games. His uneven production reflects an Indianapolis passing attack that has struggled to establish a reliable rhythm.
Jones has shown he can make difficult throws, but ball security remains a significant concern against Pittsburgh’s aggressive defense. His mobility offers another dimension, particularly when the Colts move the pocket to change his throwing angles.

The Steelers will look to create pressure with their edge rushers, forcing Jones to make decisions before his receivers complete their routes.
Indianapolis must protect its tackles and avoid obvious passing downs.
Rodgers faces a different challenge against Buckner and Stewart. Indianapolis can generate disruption through the interior, potentially collapsing the pocket before Pittsburgh’s deeper routes develop.
Sunday’s weather could complicate both passing attacks. Rain and gusty conditions are possible, making grip, timing and ball security particularly important. Nobody enjoys watching a veteran quarterback lose a football because the weather decided to participate.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers bottom line: With both quarterbacks facing pressure and potential weather complications, controlling the line of scrimmage could decide which offense finds enough consistency to win.

Colts Steelers Free Pick: Under 44.5
Here is my Colts Steelers free pick: I’m taking Under 44.5. I expect both coaches to value possession over gambling on every fourth down, and there’s a difference between having offensive weapons and consistently finishing drives.
Pittsburgh’s third-down problems are where this ticket starts making sense.
An offense that struggles to convert manageable situations can burn plenty of clock without doing much damage to the scoreboard.
Give me a few long drives ending in FG’s, and suddenly 44.5 looks like a generous number.
Indianapolis has its own problem: turnovers. Jones cannot afford to keep handing Pittsburgh short fields, particularly against a defense that knows how to capitalize on mistakes. That’s the biggest threat to my Under.
Rodgers can still hit explosive throws, but I expect enough stalled possessions to offset the occasional big play. Rain would be a bonus, not the foundation of this bet.
My NFL betting system likes this combination of third-down resistance and a total that leaves room for a couple of touchdowns each. My NFL free pick is Colts Steelers Under 44.5.
