Browns vs. Jets Gameday
Three straight wins against three straight losses.
That’s the backdrop when the Cleveland Browns visit the New York Jets on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at MetLife Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on CBS, with both teams looking to prove their early-season records tell the whole story. Todd Monken has Cleveland sitting at 3-1 after recovering from an ugly opening-week defeat.
The Browns have learned how to finish close games, even when the offense isn’t exactly lighting up scoreboards.
Aaron Glenn’s Jets are 1-3 and still searching for their first victory since the season opener. New York returns home after consecutive road losses, with an offense that has alternated between encouraging stretches and extended disappearing acts. The Meadowlands crowd has seen enough rebuilding speeches to qualify for a construction permit.
Cleveland brings a winning streak to the Meadowlands, while New York needs something better than another respectable excuse.
The Jets won last season’s meeting at MetLife Stadium, giving Cleveland another reason to approach this trip carefully. Momentum is useful, but it doesn’t block defensive linemen or convert third downs.
It’s Week 5, Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets Odds & Last 5
The opening NFL betting odds favor New York at -132 on the moneyline, with Cleveland returning +110. The Jets are laying 1.5 points, while the Browns are getting 1.5. The total is 40 points, putting a relatively modest scoring target in front of bettors.
Cleveland has beaten Pittsburgh 27-24, Carolina 21-18 and Tampa Bay 23-19 since its opening loss to Jacksonville.
Those three victories came by a combined 10 points, hardly the stuff of weekly domination.
New York opened with a 23-10 victory over Tennessee before losing to Green Bay, Detroit and Chicago. The Jets managed just 12 points against the Bears, their least productive offensive outing of the season.
Nobody is ordering commemorative DVDs of that performance.
The previous head-to-head meeting ended 27-20 for New York in November 2025. Special teams helped decide that contest, another reminder that NFL scoring doesn’t always follow the offensive script.

Jets Stats
New York ran just 32 offensive plays against Chicago, an astonishingly small workload for an offense trying to establish consistency. The Jets barely had time to warm up before another possession disappeared.
Through four games, New York has averaged 19 points and roughly 286 offensive yards per contest. Those numbers reflect a team that can move the football in stretches but struggles to string together complete performances. The talent is there, although the execution apparently operates on a flexible schedule.
Garrett Wilson leads the receiving corps with 270 yards and two TD’s.
Rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq gives the offense another option when opponents devote extra coverage to Wilson.
The defense has been more dependable against the pass than the run. New York has allowed roughly 124 rushing yards per game, creating opportunities for opponents to control the line of scrimmage.
Injuries are becoming a serious problem.
Breece Hall is out with a quad injury, while receiver Adonai Mitchell and guard Dylan Parham are also unavailable. Edge rushers Kingsley Enagbare and Will McDonald IV are questionable, leaving Glenn with some uncomfortable personnel decisions.
Browns Stats
Cleveland has averaged just over 20 points through four games, relying on timely scoring rather than sustained offensive dominance. The Browns have found ways to win without making life particularly comfortable for their supporters.
The running game has improved recently, producing 244 yards across the previous two outings. That’s encouraging for an offense that struggled to establish consistent production on the ground early in the season.
Quinshon Judkins gives Cleveland a physical option in the backfield and another target in the passing game. His versatility allows Monken to vary formations without constantly changing personnel. That flexibility becomes valuable against defenses trying to anticipate the next play.
Defensively, the Browns have generated pressure and created difficult passing situations, but the injury report is troubling. Defensive tackles Mason Graham, Mike Hall Jr. and Kalia Davis are out, leaving Cleveland thin through the middle. Offensive guard Teven Jenkins is also unavailable, adding another complication to the protection plan.
The Browns have survived adversity before, but the injury list is starting to resemble a particularly unpleasant grocery receipt.
Browns vs. Jets QB Matchup
Geno Smith enters Week 5 with 902 passing yards and five TD’s through four games. His ability to deliver accurately underneath and attack downfield gives New York options when the protection holds up. Smith threw for 321 yards and three TD’s against Detroit, demonstrating how dangerous he can be when the offense establishes a rhythm. The contrast with his 119-yard performance against Chicago was striking.
Consistency remains the missing ingredient.
His connection with Wilson is particularly important against Cleveland’s aggressive defensive approach. Smith must recognize pressure quickly and avoid letting the Browns dictate every passing situation.
Deshaun Watson counters with 855 passing yards and six TD’s through four games. His mobility remains a useful weapon, especially when the pocket begins to collapse.
Watson can extend plays and force defenders to account for him outside the pocket.
That’s a headache for a Jets defense already trying to contain Cleveland’s improving ground game.

New York has experienced defensive playmakers in Demario Davis and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both can influence passing lanes and create problems when Watson holds the ball too long.
Cleveland presents a different challenge for Smith. The Browns can generate pressure without relying exclusively on blitzes, allowing additional defenders to remain in coverage.
Sunday’s conditions could also influence both quarterbacks. Rain and gusty winds are possible, making ball security and short-area accuracy especially important.
Neither coaching staff wants to spend Monday explaining why its quarterback kept throwing into the weather.
Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets bottom line: Two veteran quarterbacks, injury-affected supporting casts and contrasting defensive vulnerabilities create a matchup where execution matters considerably more than early-season momentum.
Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets Football Betting Trends

- Also, Cleveland is 3-0 straight up in their last three regular-season games as underdogs.
- In the last three regular-season games with totals set at 42 or less, the Browns have an impressive 3-0 straight-up record.
- Plus, the Jets have seen the total go over in four of their last five regular-season home games.
- The total has gone over in five of the Jets’ last seven regular-season games with totals set at 42 or less.

Browns Jets Free Pick: Over 40
Here is my Browns Jets free pick: I’m playing Over 40.0. Neither offense needs to impersonate the Greatest Show on Turf to reach 41 points, and I’m not asking for a quarterback clinic.
My angle is what happens when these defenses start giving ground. Cleveland’s battered interior creates opportunities for New York to establish manageable downs, while the Browns can exploit favorable rushing matchups to keep possessions alive. Both offenses have a workable path to the red zone.
Give me a few productive drives, a couple of defensive mistakes and 41 points without the Hollywood ending.
The weather is a legitimate concern, particularly if the wind starts interfering with the passing game. But a 24-17 finish gets this ticket home, and neither team needs an offensive masterpiece to produce it.
My NFL betting system likes modest totals when defensive vulnerabilities offer more scoring potential than the number suggests. I’m willing to accept some ugly possessions at this price.
No need to turn a reasonable number into a science project. My NFL free pick is Over the total up to 41.5.
