The Atlanta Falcons will look to snap their four-game skid hen they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Kick off is set for 1:00 PM ET with a pair of NFC foes fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.
After starting the season 5-0, the Atlanta Falcons find themselves at 6-5 and in great danger of missing the playoffs after a string of terrible football.
The Falcons have developed a knack for turning the ball over in the red zone which has led to several shifts in momentum that have ultimately cost them in the end.
The Falcons are still 5th in the NFL in passing and 13th in points scored. However, that strong offensive start has sputtered over their last four games where they’ve averaged about 17 points per contest.
Atlanta discovered its workhorse in running back Devonta Freeman, but after missing Week 12 with a concussion, Freeman’s status is still up in the air for Atlanta’s matchup with Tampa Bay.
The Falcons desperately need a win on Sunday, and it won’t be easy since they’re going against a divisional foe that already beat them at home in Week 8.
Atlanta plays first-place Carolina twice in three weeks, and a win against the Bucs is a must if the Falcons want to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With five wins already, the Buccaneers have more than doubled their win total from last season. The Bucs have found success with their running game, and their 142 rushing yards per game ranks 3rd in the NFL.
The reliance on Doug Martin and Charles Sims has helped take the pressure off rookie quarterback Jameis Winston.
Though the Bucs have played much better this season, they’ve still struggled to perform well in front of their home crowd.
Tampa Bay has struggled mightily at home this year and has only averaged 14 points per game over its last two home contests.
The Bucs barely held on to beat the Matt Cassel-led Dallas Cowboys, and struggled to contain the Jacksonville Jaguars. In between those games, they suffered an ugly home loss to the New York Giants.
Tampa Bay has without a doubt made strides this season, but this team still has some work to do, especially at home.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Bucs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games.
- Bucs are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games.
- Bucs are 2-12 SU in their last 14 home games.
- Falcons are 4-2 SU in their last 6 road games.
- Falcons are 7-14 in their last 21 road games.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Under 46
Over the last five weeks, the Falcons have struggled to score, but their defense has still gotten the job done. The average total of Atlanta’s last five games is 33.6 points per game, well below the 46-point total offered in this one.
The Falcons also possess the ball for more than 32 minutes per game on average, which ranks 2nd in the NFL.
Tampa Bay has found success running the football, and combining that with Atlanta’s time of possession makes sense to pick the under in this one.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Atlanta 23 – Tampa Bay 17
This is Atlanta’s last chance to make a final run at the playoffs. I can see the Falcons stealing one in Tampa Bay.
