Although the 76ers arrive to this season embroiled in controversy the Bucks also have some drama to deal with as they begin their march toward capturing Larry O’B.

Harden forced the firing of Doc Rivers and although Nick Nurse seems to believe they got off on the right foot it’s hard to envision how positive their interactions are when the bearded man remains AWOL.
The team is saying Harden is dealing with personal matters and it’s an excused absence but let’s see if that narrative changes if he doesn’t lace them up for this season opener.

Philly played four preseason games finishing with a 2-2 record. Last season they finished ranking third offensively (117.3), eighth defensively (110.6), and registered the third-best net rating (+4.4).

Milwaukee Bucks
The biggest trade of the offseason featured Damian Lillard moving to the Bucks. It came at a cost though, as Jrue Holiday was part of the deal.
Regardless, Dame’s happy to join forces with Giannis Antetokounmpo as the duo have long been desirous of playing together and they’re expected to battle the Celtics for the East’s top position.
As for other moves, Milwaukee added free agents Malik Beasley, Robin Lopez, and Cameron Payne to help bolster their depth.
Jon Horst’s other big move was hiring Adrian Griffin to replace the fired Mike Budenholzer. Griffin is looking to bring more emphasis on energy to the club and like his counterpart is already dealing with drama tied to Assistant Terry Stotts resigning last week.
Tempering this situation, Giannis Antetokounmpo signed a 3-year $186M extension on the weekend.
Bucks Stats
Milwaukee played five preseason games posting a record of 3-2. Last season they finished ranking 15th offensively (114.3), and fourth defensively (110.9) with the fifth-best net differential (+3.4).

Griffin starts the season short a head assistant and will have to figure out the offense that Stott was responsible for while also gaining his footing as a first-time head coach. Adding intrigue to this first game is Griffin was Nurse’s lead assistant in Toronto.
Philly may be short of playmaking, but the Bucks’ depth is questionable as is the health of Kris Middleton who is still slowly working his way back into shape after more offseason surgery.
While the coaching mentor has the credentials, I’ll roll with the mentee and the home side winning the match, but I’ll take the Sixers to keep it closer than the spread.
