Chet Holmgren will have the task of slowing Wembanyama, which is something he struggled to do all of last season right into the playoffs, where he took a beating.

Here is my Thunder Spurs free pick: I’m playing the OKC Thunder to utilize the extra points and cover the +2.5 spread versus the Spurs. Although both clubs are projected to fight each other for the top of the Conference and the Spurs are highly motivated to make a return to the Finals, I still like the Thunder’s depth and overall consistency.
OKC led the league in points scored off turnovers and while the Spurs ranked third in fewest opponent points scored off turnovers they’ll be navigating a new starting lineup with three guards which should take some time to gel.
Sure, they’ve lost some key cogs in Dort and Joe, but Wallace and Mitchell are familiar with the schemes and player personnel, plus Jaylen Williams arrives this season well-rested and finally healthy.
