Huskies vs. Boilermakers Gameday
Washington travels to Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette to face Purdue on Friday, October 16, 2026. Kickoff is set for 8 PM ET on FOX. Both Big Ten programs enter Week 7 at 3-3.
Jedd Fisch’s Huskies are 0-3 in conference play and have lost three straight. Washington is still looking for its first road victory.
The Huskies cannot afford another conference setback.
Purdue has found its footing in Big Ten play, while Washington is fighting to stop a three-game slide.
Barry Odom’s Boilermakers are 2-1 in the Big Ten and 2-2 at home. Purdue has won consecutive conference games for the first time since 2022.
Washington makes its first trip to Purdue in 36 seasons. The Boilermakers have momentum, but their uneven September remains a reminder that consistency isn’t guaranteed. Friday gives both teams an opportunity to move above .500.
It’s Week 7, Washington Huskies vs. Purdue Boilermakers, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Two narrow conference defeats preceded the loss to Iowa.

Boilermakers Stats
Purdue averages 32.2 points and 416 total yards per game. The Boilermakers have generated 1,692 passing yards and 801 rushing yards. Their passing attack has been the more productive part of the offense.
Fame Ijeboi leads the ground game with 549 rushing yards and nine TD’s. He ran for 195 yards and three scores against Minnesota.
Purdue has become more effective controlling the line of scrimmage.
The Boilermakers have improved offensively, but their defense still has plenty to prove over a full season.
Asaad Waseem leads Purdue with 472 receiving yards. Xavier Townsend has added 315 yards and two TD’s, giving the passing attack another dependable target.
The Boilermakers have surrendered 188 points, an average of 31.3 per game. Their defense has generated four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. However, the unit has been vulnerable against stronger offensive competition.
Defensive consistency remains Purdue’s biggest concern.
Huskies Stats
Washington averages 26.2 points per game and has accumulated 2,219 total yards. The Huskies have produced 1,677 passing yards but only 542 on the ground. That imbalance has made sustaining drives more difficult.
Brian Bonner Jr. leads Washington with 232 rushing yards. Jayden Limar and Jordan Washington are listed as out, leaving the backfield short-handed.
The Huskies need better production on early downs.
Dezmen Roebuck leads Washington with 43 receptions for 387 yards and two TD’s. The receiving group has produced despite injuries and inconsistent offensive execution.
Defensively, Washington has allowed 133 points, an average of 22.2 per game. The Huskies have recorded 10 sacks and seven interceptions. Their secondary has created opportunities, although the front seven needs more consistent pressure.
Washington’s defense must limit missed assignments against a productive Purdue offense.
Huskies vs. Boilermakers QB Matchup
Purdue QB Ryan Browne has completed 124 of 180 passes for 1,549 yards. He has thrown nine TD’s and one interception. His 68.9% completion rate reflects a substantial improvement in efficiency. Browne has also contributed as a runner, particularly when protection breaks down. His mobility creates additional problems for defenses that concentrate on coverage. Purdue has received reliable production from its starter.
Evans Chuba provides depth behind Browne. The backup has completed 11 of 14 passes for 96 yards, with one TD and no interceptions.
Washington QB Demond Williams Jr. has thrown for 1,396 yards, eight TD’s and three interceptions. He suffered a shoulder injury against Iowa and is listed as questionable for Friday. His availability remains unresolved. Williams’ status could affect Washington’s offensive approach.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Elijah Brown replaced Williams against Iowa and has thrown for 276 yards this season. He has four TD passes without an interception.
Brown gives Washington an alternative, but a potential road start against a conference opponent presents a different challenge. Purdue must prepare for either quarterback without assuming Williams will be unavailable.
The Huskies need to protect whichever QB takes the opening snap.
Washington must account for Browne’s ability to extend plays. Purdue, in turn, needs to recognize the different passing and mobility strengths of Washington’s two options. Both defenses will face important adjustments after the opening possessions.
The quarterback matchup favors Purdue in continuity, although Washington has options if Williams cannot go. The Huskies’ protection and play selection will be important regardless of the starter.
Washington Huskies vs. Purdue Boilermakers bottom line: Purdue has the more settled offense, while Washington needs a disciplined road performance to stay competitive.

- Plus, Purdue is 3-0 against the spread in their last 3 games after a win.

Huskies Boilermakers Free Pick: Under 52.5
Here is my Huskies Boilermakers free pick: I’m betting Under 52.5. Purdue’s recent scoring numbers make the Over tempting, but I don’t buy that Friday automatically becomes another shootout. Washington has every reason to make the Boilermakers work through long possessions.
The biggest concern is Purdue’s ability to score quickly if Washington misses tackles. I’m betting the Huskies make enough defensive stops to prevent that from becoming a four-quarter problem.
Neither team needs to abandon the running game.
I’ll take a physical Big 10 game with contested possessions over a scoring contest decided by explosive plays.
UW’s QB situation also makes offensive caution reasonable. That doesn’t guarantee fewer points, but it makes reckless play-calling less attractive.
The number gives us room for a 27-24 or less finish.
I’ve seen enough games where one explosive Saturday fools bettors into chasing Friday’s Over.
Not here. My CFB betting system says Under 52.5.
