Rams vs. Bobcats Gameday
Colorado State visits Texas State on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at UFCU Stadium in San Marcos, Texas. Kickoff is 8:00 PM ET on CBS Sports Network. Both programs enter Week 7 looking for their first Pac-12 victory.
Jim Mora’s Rams are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play. They’ve lost three straight since opening the season with consecutive home wins.
September optimism has taken a rather unpleasant detour.
Colorado State needs a road breakthrough, while Texas State wants its first Pac-12 home victory.
GJ Kinne’s Bobcats are also 2-3 and 0-1 in conference play. They’ve won two of three games at home.
Both schools are adjusting to life in the Pac-12. Neither has enjoyed the conference start it wanted. Thursday offers a chance to get that first league win out of the way.
It’s Week 7, Colorado State Rams vs. Texas State Bobcats, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Bobcats Stats
Texas State has scored 174 points through five games, averaging 34.8. The Bobcats have rushed for 1,318 yards and accumulated 134 first downs. Their offense has been particularly dangerous when it establishes the ground game.
Defensively, Texas State has surrendered 166 points, or 33.2 per contest. The Bobcats have needed plenty of offensive production to overcome those defensive struggles.
Apparently, stopping somebody is still an optional activity.
Torrance Burgess Jr. leads the rushing attack with 614 yards and one TD. His explosiveness has given the Bobcats a reliable option in the backfield.
Chris Dawn Jr. has contributed 304 receiving yards and four TD’s. Beau Sparks has added 244 yards and two scores. Both provide downfield threats when defenses concentrate on the run.
Texas State has also dealt with personnel concerns, making its available depth worth monitoring.
Rams Stats
Colorado State has scored 187 points through five games, averaging 37.4. The Rams have allowed 193 points, or 38.6 per contest. That’s a remarkable amount of scoreboard activity for a team sitting below .500.
Mel Brown leads the ground game with 409 rushing yards and three TD’s. Durell Robinson has added 266 yards and four scores.
Both have provided useful production between the tackles.
RJ Vick leads the receivers with 24 catches for 367 yards and four TD’s. Terrence Smith Jr. has added 242 yards and three scores.
Colorado State has multiple players capable of generating chunk gains. That versatility makes the Rams difficult to defend when the offense finds a rhythm. Unfortunately, the other side of the ball hasn’t always returned the favor.
Brown and Vick have been listed with injury concerns, leaving their game-day availability worth watching.
Rams vs. Bobcats QB Matchup
Brad Jackson leads Texas State with 1,226 passing yards, 13 TD’s and five interceptions. He’s completed 92 of 138 passes through five games. His passing ability complements the Bobcats’ dangerous running attack.
Jackson threw for 372 yards and three TD’s against San Diego State. He also contributed as a runner in that contest.
That’s a pretty full evening’s work.
Gavin Parkhurst has seen limited action behind Jackson. He’s completed eight of nine passes for 114 yards and one TD.
Colorado State’s K’saan Farrar has thrown for 649 yards, three TD’s and two interceptions. He’s completed 63 of 103 attempts in four appearances.
The Rams have needed him during an unsettled stretch at quarterback.
Hauss Hejny has contributed 619 passing yards, 10 TD’s and one interception in three games. His hamstring injury has complicated Colorado State’s plans. His availability remains an important pregame question.

“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Hejny’s production before the injury demonstrated his explosive ability. Farrar has taken on the larger role during his absence.
Jackson gives Texas State continuity at the position. Colorado State has options, but its final approach depends partly on Hejny’s health. The Bobcats must prepare for more than one possible look.
There are easier weeks to be a defensive coordinator.
Colorado State Rams vs. Texas State Bobcats bottom line: Texas State has an established passing leader, while Colorado State must settle its quarterback situation before testing the Bobcats’ defense.

- Texas State has gone over the total in their last 3 games.
- Also, the Bobcats have a 3-0 over record in games where they are favorites this season.

Rams Bobcats Free Pick: Over 71.5 (Yes that says 71.5)
Here is my Rams Bobcats free pick: I’m playing Over 71.5. Yes, that number is ridiculous. So is asking these defenses to suddenly become responsible adults.
Colorado State has gone Over in its last five games, while Texas State has cleared the total in four of five. Those results make this an interesting matchup even with the bookmakers hanging a number that looks more appropriate for a basketball game.
Still, trends don’t score touchdowns.
I’m betting this becomes a possession-for-possession scoring contest, with the underdog contributing enough to keep both offenses attacking.
Texas State laying two touchdowns creates an interesting game script. If the Bobcats build that expected cushion, Colorado State has little reason to spend the fourth quarter running into a crowded line. The Rams can lose comfortably and still help cash this ticket.
My concern is the usual one with a total this high: empty red-zone trips. A couple of FG’s instead of TD’s can turn a promising evening into an expensive lesson.
Seventy-two points is a tall order, but this matchup offers several ways to get there. I’m willing to pay for that upside.
And if the scoreboard operator needs a coffee break, somebody else can cover the shift. I’ve got Over 71.5 and absolutely no interest in watching a punting exhibition.
