I don’t need the Bearkats to suddenly become an offensive powerhouse. I need Jacksonville State to turn its advantages into touchdowns and force the visitors to take chances. A couple of extra possessions can make a significant difference to this total.
Jacksonville State can control the game without controlling the clock, and that’s the distinction I’m betting.
The obvious risk is Sam Houston’s offense disappearing again. If the Bearkats spend the evening punting, even a comfortable Gamecocks victory might finish below this number.
Still, the spread suggests Jacksonville State should have opportunities to score well into the 30s. That leaves a manageable contribution for Sam Houston, particularly if the Bearkats are forced into a more aggressive second half. I’m not interested in laying a huge number and hoping the favorite keeps its foot down.
