Wildcats Volunteers Free Pick: Kentucky Wildcats +6.5
Here is my Wildcats Volunteers free pick: I’m taking Kentucky Wildcats +6.5. Tennessee deserves respect at Neyland Stadium, but nearly a touchdown against a team that’s 7-1 ATS is a price I’m willing to challenge. The Wildcats have been cashing tickets while the Volunteers have been getting by.
Kentucky has covered four straight as an underdog and five straight following a victory. That’s not a guarantee, but it tells me this team has consistently outperformed what the sportsbooks expected.
Tennessee can win this rivalry again without covering the number, and that’s exactly the distinction I’m betting.
The Volunteers have been favored five times this season and covered all five, so there’s legitimate risk here. Still, their passing game hasn’t consistently produced the kind of quick-strike offense that makes laying nearly a touchdown comfortable.
My biggest concern is Tennessee’s defensive pressure creating short fields. Kentucky cannot afford giveaways that turn a competitive game into a two-score deficit.
But I don’t need the Wildcats to win outright. I need them to stay disciplined, avoid the cheap mistakes and keep this within one possession.
Tennessee gets the crowd and the rivalry history; I’ll take the points and Kentucky Wildcats +6.5.
