Miami has allowed 17.8 points per game. The Hurricanes surrender only 60.8 rushing yards per contest, one of the nation’s strongest defensive marks.
Miami’s run defense has been outstanding, but opposing quarterbacks have found considerably more room to operate.

CharMar Brown and Joshua Moore are sidelined for the season. Miami must also adjust its receiving rotation without Toney.
Hurricanes vs. Fighting Irish QB Matchup
CJ Carr leads Notre Dame with 1,849 passing yards and 18 TD through eight games. He’s completed 148 of 222 attempts with one interception.
Carr has been particularly effective at protecting the football. His decision-making has helped Notre Dame maintain offensive consistency.
The Irish quarterback also contributes as a runner.
Against Navy, Carr threw for 210 yards and two TD. He’ll face a Miami defense that has been far more effective stopping the run than defending the pass.
Noah Grubbs provides quarterback depth for Notre Dame. He’s completed 15 of 23 passes for 176 yards and one TD.
Darian Mensah leads Miami with 2,425 passing yards and 25 TD. He’s completed 188 of 233 attempts with only one interception.

- The Fighting Irish are 24-2 straight up in their last 26 games after a win.

Hurricanes Fighting Irish Free Pick: Over 57.5
Here is my Hurricanes Fighting Irish free pick: I’m playing Over 57.5. Notre Dame is favored by 5.5, but Miami has too much offensive talent to dismiss as an underdog. I see two teams capable of putting serious pressure on the opposing scoreboard. Miami’s ability to score quickly is what makes this number attractive. Notre Dame can answer with sustained drives, and that combination can produce points without requiring a turnover-filled shootout.
When both teams can punish a defensive mistake, 57.5 isn’t the mountain it first appears.
Malachi Toney’s ankle injury is a legitimate concern for Miami. Losing that kind of receiving production removes an explosive option, and I’m not pretending the Hurricanes can replace it overnight.
Still, Notre Dame has enough offensive weapons to contribute heavily, and Miami’s remaining playmakers can create scoring chances. The key is finishing drives rather than trading field goals. I expect both teams to remain aggressive into the fourth quarter, with the loser forced to chase points.
That’s the game script I’m buying with Over 57.5.
