The Hawkeyes look to continue a perfect season; they don’t intend Big Ten doormat Purdue to come onto their turf and change their ambitions. Opponents have known what Iowa intends to do right from opening kickoff, and the Hawkeyes are still able to execute.

With a 2-8 record coming into this weekend, Purdue is looking to salvage a shred of respectability from the 2015 season. If the Boilers were somehow able to pull the upset in Iowa City, it would absolutely qualify as a consolation prize for this downtrodden Indiana football program.
Purdue
The Boilermakers are dead last in the Big Ten West division, thanks to only one conference victory and two wins in total in 2015. Purdue beat Nebraska in a barnburner a few weeks ago, something that will go down as a dark moment for the vaunted Nebraska program.
Purdue has been unable to run the ball with consistency and cannot stop opposing attacks, which has them in the Big Ten basement. The Boilers rank only 114th in the nation in rushing, averaging 128.9 yards per game.
What running the ball Purdue can do has been accomplished by freshman Markell Jones, who has 692 yards and a respectable eight TDs on the campaign.

Defensively, Purdue is a mess and will likely be swallowed up by Iowa’s effective zone blocking scheme. The “D” ranks 106th nationally in points against (34.4) and the offense is also in the bottom third in points for.
From the book of legendary coach John Madden, when you can’t score and can’t prevent being scored on, you aren’t winning a lot of football games.
Iowa
The Hawkeyes are enjoying a polar opposite year from this week’s opponent. Iowa has a flawless record so far because they run the ball very well behind effective offensive line work, and they have a hungry defense that flows to the ball.
To be fair, Iowa also picked the perfect year to get its ducks in a row, thanks to the schedule gods. The Hawkeyes avoid Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State from the East division this year, all of which have at least eight wins.
After the first few teams (let’s include Iowa and Wisconsin from the West division in that list also) the drop-off in the Big Ten is steep.
Basically, Iowa has been bashing inferior opponents with regularity. The Hawks rank 28th in the country with nearly 212 yards rushing per game, led by a triumvirate of senior Jordan Canzeri (729 yards, nine TDs), junior LeShun Daniels (559, six) and sophomore Akrum Wadley (426, seven).
Whoever has toted the rock for Iowa this year has found nice seams in the defense to attack, courtesy an offensive line that routinely pumps out NFL prospects.
Under center, junior QB C.J. Beathard has been nearly mistake-free, which is what you require in a team with a blue-collar image like the Hawkeyes possess under veteran head coach Kirk Ferentz.

It hasn’t always been pretty or prolific, but you can’t argue with the results in Iowa City, as their beloved Hawkeyes sit at 10-0.

4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Iowa ATS
Iowa should overwhelm Purdue at the point of attack early and often on Saturday afternoon at home. The only concern for Iowa could be overlooking this match-up with a road game at Nebraska still looming on the slate, but with all that is on the line in the FBS Playoff picture, that should be unlikely.
Expect Iowa’s stable of running backs to have a big day, as they control the clock and coast to an 11th straight victory.
