Huskies Stats
Washington has generated 2,214 passing yards through eight games, averaging 276.8 per contest. The Huskies have added 760 rushing yards, averaging 95 per game.
That imbalance has placed considerable responsibility on Washington’s passing attack.
Chris Lawson has emerged as a major receiving threat. His ability to find openings gives the Huskies a dependable option on passing downs.
Washington has scored 212 points, averaging 26.5 per game. The offense has produced 2,974 total yards.
The Huskies have allowed 169 points, averaging 21.1 per contest. Their defense has recorded 15 sacks and 12 interceptions.
Those interceptions have created valuable opportunities for an offense that hasn’t always moved the football consistently.
Washington has also recovered two opponent fumbles.
Safety CJ Christian has dealt with an Achilles injury, while Christian Moss and Trey Cooley have faced availability concerns.
Their status remains worth monitoring before kickoff.
Nittany Lions Stats
Penn State has scored 232 points this season, averaging 29 per game. The Nittany Lions have produced 1,962 passing yards and 1,185 rushing yards.
Carson Hansen has rushed for 374 yards and five TD. His physical running style gives Penn State an option between the tackles.
Cam Wallace has also contributed to the ground game, rushing for a career-high 135 yards against Purdue.
Chase Sowell leads the receiving attack with 510 yards and three TD. His availability has been worth monitoring because of an injury concern.
The Nittany Lions have allowed 149 points, averaging 18.6 per contest. Their defense has collected ten sacks, nine interceptions and four fumble recoveries.
Penn State’s defense has delivered respectable numbers, but the offense hasn’t always returned the favor.
Linebacker Tony Rojas remains an important presence in Penn State’s defensive front seven.
His ability to disrupt plays helps the Nittany Lions challenge opposing rushing attacks.
Cornerback Audavion Collins has also contributed in coverage. Penn State’s secondary faces a difficult assignment against Washington’s receivers.
Nittany Lions vs. Huskies QB Matchup
Demond Williams Jr. is Washington’s expected starter if his injured rib allows him to play. Jedd Fisch indicated the junior would return to the starting lineup if healthy.
Williams has completed 123 of 187 passes for 1,495 yards and nine TD. He’s thrown three interceptions across seven appearances.
The junior returned against Nebraska after missing the Purdue game. He entered in the fourth quarter and helped engineer Washington’s comeback.
Elijah Brown has provided capable relief during Williams’ absence. He’s completed 70 of 99 passes for 714 yards, seven TD and three interceptions.
Brown started against Nebraska before Williams took over late. His experience gives Washington another legitimate option if the starter encounters problems.
Rocco Becht leads Penn State with 1,839 passing yards and 13 TD through eight games. He’s attempted 234 passes and thrown five interceptions.
Becht brings considerable starting experience to the Nittany Lions.
His ability to recognize coverage and distribute the football remains important to Penn State’s offense.

Against Purdue, Becht threw for 175 yards and one TD while adding a rushing score. Penn State leaned heavily on its ground attack rather than asking him to carry the offense.
Alex Manske provides additional quarterback depth with limited game experience. He’s attempted 14 passes for 102 yards without a touchdown or interception.
Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Washington Huskies bottom line: Washington’s quarterback situation remains the biggest uncertainty, while Penn State needs a more complete offensive performance to challenge the Huskies in Seattle.
Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Washington Huskies Football Betting Trends
- Penn State has a strong record after a win, going 24-6 straight up in their last 30 games.
- Additionally, the Nittany Lions have done well on the road, achieving a 16-8 straight-up record in their last 24 away games.
- For totals, Penn State has gone over in 10 of their last 13 games after a win.
- Washington has been successful as a favorite, with a 26-4 straight-up record in their last 30 games.
- Plus, the Huskies have been dominant at home, winning 25 of their last 30 home games straight up.
- For over/under trends, UW have gone over in all three home games this season.
Nittany Lions Huskies Free Pick: Washington Huskies -2
Here is my Nittany Lions Huskies free pick: I’m backing Washington -2. Penn State finally won a conference game, but one decent Saturday doesn’t erase a month of poor results. Now the Nittany Lions have to travel across the country and beat a Washington team that’s finding ways to finish games. Washington has won 25 of its last 30 at Husky Stadium, and the Huskies have won 26 of their last 30 as favorites.
I like those situations when I’m laying a number this small, although history won’t make Saturday’s tackles.
When the spread is two points, I’m backing the team I trust to deliver when the game gets tight.
Washington doesn’t need an offensive masterpiece to cash this bet. The Huskies need to avoid falling behind early, make Penn State work for its possessions and capitalize when the Nittany Lions leave points on the field.
My concern is Penn State turning this into a physical fourth-quarter fight. That’s entirely possible, but Washington has already shown it can survive an ugly finish without panicking. I’m not paying a premium for a favorite that needs to dominate. Two points is a reasonable price for the home side to win a game that could come down to one final possession.
I’ll take my chances with Washington -2.
