Blake Barnett is set to start for Kansas State after Collin Klein announced his decision Monday. Avery Johnson remains sidelined, while Jacob Knuth is also unlikely to be available.

Against Colorado, Barnett completed 18 of 28 attempts for 224 yards and three TD after entering in relief. He also rushed for 40 yards.

Barnett must handle the responsibility of making his first start against a conference opponent. His performance at Colorado offered encouragement, but preparing as the starter brings a different challenge.
Mestemaker faces a secondary that has limited opponents’ passing opportunities. He’ll need to recognize coverage and take available completions rather than forcing throws downfield.
Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Kansas State Wildcats bottom line: Oklahoma State has the established quarterback and more explosive offense, but Kansas State’s home-field advantage and defensive discipline make this a difficult road assignment.
Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Kansas State Wildcats Football Betting Trends

- The Wildcats have a strong 20-5 straight-up record in their last 25 home games.

Cowboys Wildcats Free Pick: Over 61.5
Here is my Cowboys Wildcats free pick: I’m betting Over 61.5. Oklahoma State is laying 4.5 on the road, but I prefer the total. The Cowboys can score quickly, and I don’t trust them to keep Kansas State off the scoreboard.
The Wildcats have gone Over in 17 of their last 20 games as underdogs. That’s a useful betting angle, although this play comes down to whether Kansas State can turn its possessions into touchdowns rather than field goals.
At 61.5, field goals are nice, but touchdowns pay the bills.
My biggest concern is Kansas State slowing the game with extended drives. Still, if Oklahoma State grabs an early lead, the Wildcats won’t have the luxury of playing conservatively all afternoon.
A 35-28 finish gets us home. I’m betting the Cowboys create enough scoring pressure to make Kansas State answer, even if the Wildcats would prefer a slower afternoon.
Forget laying points with a road favorite whose defense has made life interesting. I’m attacking the scoreboard instead. My play is Over 61.5.
