Hoosiers Stats
Indiana has scored 241 points through six games, averaging 40 per contest. The Hoosiers have a balanced offense capable of attacking through the air and on the ground. Their ability to protect the football has helped sustain drives against Big Ten competition.
Charlie Becker has 529 receiving yards, while Nick Marsh has contributed 528. The pair has combined for 14 TD catches.
Indiana has two dangerous receiving options capable of challenging Ohio State’s secondary.
Indiana’s offense gets the attention, but its defensive front is capable of controlling this matchup.
The Hoosiers have allowed only 71 points and recorded 20 sacks through six games. Their defense has also produced 49 tackles for loss.
Stephen Daley and Tobi Osunsanmi have five sacks apiece. Their ability to disrupt the pocket makes Indiana particularly dangerous against passing offenses.
Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. provide a productive rushing combination. Their running ability prevents opponents from concentrating entirely on Indiana’s receivers. Ohio State will need disciplined run fits to keep the Hoosiers from controlling early downs.
Buckeyes Stats
Ohio State has scored 256 points through six games, averaging nearly 43 per contest. The Buckeyes have produced 2,027 passing yards and 998 rushing yards. Their passing attack has been among the nation’s most productive.
Bo Jackson leads the rushing attack with 460 yards and four TD’s. Ja’Kobi Jackson has added 354 yards and six TD’s but will miss Saturday’s game.
Ohio State needs additional production from its available running backs.
Jeremiah Smith leads the receivers with 916 yards and 11 TD’s. His ability to win contested catches and create explosive plays gives Ohio State a dangerous downfield weapon.
Brandon Inniss and Devin McCuin could strengthen the receiving rotation if available. Phillip Daniels is expected back on the offensive line, while Austin Siereveld remains out.
Defensively, Ohio State has allowed 79 points through six games. The Buckeyes have recorded nine sacks, leaving room for improvement in their pass rush. Matt Patricia’s defense needs more pressure without sacrificing coverage against Indiana’s receivers.
Buckeyes vs. Hoosiers QB Matchup
Indiana QB Josh Hoover has thrown for 1,364 yards through six games. He has 17 TD passes without an interception. His ball security has been an important part of Indiana’s success.
Hoover has completed 88 of 129 passes this season. His accuracy allows Indiana to attack short and intermediate coverage.
The TCU transfer has brought experience and composure to Cignetti’s offense.
Ohio State QB Julian Sayin has thrown for 1,772 yards through six games. He has 17 TD passes and two interceptions. His arm strength and accuracy allow the Buckeyes to challenge defenses at every level.
Sayin has completed 116 of 163 attempts this season. His performance depends heavily on receiving dependable protection against aggressive defensive fronts.
Ohio State must keep its quarterback out of repeated third-and-long situations.

“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Indiana sacked Sayin five times in last season’s conference championship game. The Hoosiers will look to create similar problems with their current defensive front.
Hoover has been more careful with the football, while Sayin has generated greater passing yardage. Both quarterbacks have the receiving talent to exploit isolated coverage.
The pressure on Ohio State’s offensive tackles could determine how effectively Sayin operates.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Indiana Hoosiers bottom line: Two productive quarterbacks face outstanding defenses, making offensive-line execution the critical matchup in Bloomington.

- Plus, the Hoosiers are undefeated in their last 20 home games straight up.
- Ohio State has hit the over in 3 of their last 4 games with totals of 50 or more.

Buckeyes Hoosiers Free Pick: Over 51
Here is my Buckeyes Hoosiers free pick: I’m betting Over 51.
Ohio State and Indiana have enough offensive talent to make this a higher-scoring game than their last meeting. I don’t need either team to dominate, but I do need both coaching staffs to attack when opportunities develop. Ohio State’s biggest challenge is turning scoring opportunities into touchdowns instead of FG’s. Ryan Day has the personnel to adjust his protection, get the ball out quickly and make Indiana defend the entire field. That adjustment is critical against an aggressive defensive front.
I’m backing both offenses to create enough scoring opportunities to push this game past 51 points.
Indiana’s home-field advantage also creates an interesting situation for this total. If the Hoosiers establish an early lead, Ohio State has the passing weapons to respond rather than spend the afternoon grinding out possessions.
Neither coaching staff can afford to get overly conservative in a top-five matchup. My biggest concern is stalled drives inside the 20, not a lack of offensive talent. I expect both teams to take their shots, and a competitive fourth quarter should keep the scoring pressure on.
A 30-24 (I think we’ll get higher) ballpark finish is enough, and I’m putting my money on Over 51 in Bloomington.
