Gators vs. Longhorns Gameday
The Florida Gators visit the No. 7 Texas Longhorns on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET on ABC at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Both teams enter this SEC matchup following disappointing losses.
Florida is 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play under Jon Sumrall. The Gators have dropped two straight after opening the season with four victories.
Florida is 1-1 away from Gainesville.
Texas has the stronger defense, but the Longhorns cannot afford another mistake-filled performance against Florida’s offense.
Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns are 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC. Texas suffered its first defeat last weekend and dropped from No. 1 to No. 7.
The Longhorns have won all three home games this season. Florida needs to stop its losing streak before the SEC schedule becomes even more demanding. Both programs have plenty riding on Saturday’s result.
It’s Week 7, Florida Gators vs. Texas Longhorns, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Longhorns Stats
Texas has scored 157 points through five games, averaging 31 per contest. The Longhorns have produced 1,185 passing yards and 711 rushing yards. Their offense averages approximately 379 total yards per game.
Hollywood Smothers leads the rushing attack with 237 yards and two TD’s. Raleek Brown has contributed another 218 yards and four TD’s.
Texas needs better blocking to establish a consistent ground game.
The Longhorns have the defensive personnel to control games, but their offensive execution has been uneven.
Texas has allowed 80 points, an average of 16 per game. Opponents have managed approximately 264 total yards per contest.
Colin Simmons has recorded 9.5 sacks and remains a major threat off the edge. His ability to disrupt the pocket gives Texas an important advantage against opposing passing attacks.
Justus Terry has returned to practice after a toe injury. His game availability remains uncertain. Texas has the defensive depth to challenge Florida regardless of his status.
Gators Stats
Florida has scored 250 points through six games, averaging nearly 42 per contest. The Gators have generated 1,641 passing yards and 1,202 rushing yards. Their offense averages approximately 474 total yards per game.
Jadan Baugh leads the rushing attack with 672 yards and 12 TD’s. He has been Florida’s most productive offensive weapon.
The Gators need to protect their backfield against Texas’ aggressive front.
Dallas Wilson leads Florida with 376 receiving yards and three TD’s. Vernell Brown III has returned to practice after missing time with a knee injury.
Defensively, Florida has allowed 174 points, an average of 29 per game. The Gators have struggled to prevent explosive passing plays and sustained drives.
Myles Graham leads Florida with 42 tackles. Jayden Woods has recorded 4.5 sacks. Florida needs more pressure without leaving its secondary exposed.
Gators vs. Longhorns QB Matchup
Texas QB Arch Manning has thrown for 1,122 yards through five games. He has 10 TD passes and five interceptions. His biggest problem has been avoiding mistakes when the pocket breaks down.
Manning threw for 260 yards and three TD’s against Oklahoma. He also threw two costly interceptions in the fourth quarter.
Texas needs cleaner decisions from its starter.
Karle Lacey Jr. has appeared in two games behind Manning. He has attempted eight passes without a TD or interception.
Florida QB Aaron Philo has completed 105 of 149 passes for 1,341 yards. He has thrown nine TD’s and three interceptions. Philo is questionable with a shoulder injury suffered against South Carolina.
His availability remains an important question heading into Saturday.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Tramell Jones Jr. is Florida’s alternative if Philo cannot start. Jones has completed 23 of 29 passes for 252 yards. He has thrown two TD’s and two interceptions in limited action.
Jones has demonstrated accuracy, but he has not faced a defensive challenge comparable to Texas as a starting quarterback. His ability to recognize pressure would be tested immediately.
Florida cannot afford protection breakdowns regardless of its starter.
Manning has the edge in established starting experience. His ability to attack Florida’s secondary will depend on better pass protection.
Philo gives Florida its most experienced option, while Jones offers a different level of uncertainty. Texas will prepare for both quarterbacks until Florida settles the position.
Florida Gators vs. Texas Longhorns bottom line: Texas has the defensive advantage and home field, but quarterback execution will determine whether the Longhorns can separate from a dangerous Florida offense.

Gators Longhorns Free Pick: Texas -10.5
Here is my Gators Longhorns free pick: I’m laying Texas -10.5. This is a demanding number for an offense that has made life difficult on itself, but Florida’s defense gives Texas an opportunity to put together sustained scoring drives. The Longhorns need to turn that advantage into a lead that holds up through four quarters. Florida has allowed opponents to move the football far too easily in SEC play.
Texas can exploit that with a controlled passing attack and a commitment to finishing drives. The biggest threat to this wager is Texas giving away possessions.
I’ll lay the points if Texas makes Florida drive the length of the field instead of handing the Gators easy scoring chances.
Sarkisian needs to keep Manning out of unnecessary third-and-long situations. Florida has the offensive talent to punish mistakes, so a careless performance won’t cover double digits.
Texas also cannot afford to sit on a seven-point lead.
I’m expecting a more disciplined Longhorns offense against a defense that has struggled to make stops. If Texas protects the football and finishes its opportunities, the margin can reach two touchdowns without requiring anything extraordinary.
Texas ATS is worth laying because Florida’s defensive problems are too substantial to overlook.
