The Golden Gophers and Golden Flashes meet in Minnesota on Saturday afternoon with both teams coming off wins in their Week 2 battles.
Kent State was embarrassed by Minnesota’s conference foe Illinois in Week 1, but bounced back with a 45-13 win over Delaware State.

Minnesota, who nearly upset TCU in Week 1, got their first win of the season with an impressive 23-20 win over Colorado State.
The game is set for a noon kick off on Big Ten Network.
Kent State
Kent State’s season started off with a lot of waiting around as they were schedule to kick off the season on the Friday in Week 1. After a lengthy delay to the start of the game, the game was pushed back to Saturday.
Things didn’t go well at all that Saturday as the Golden Flashes were trashed by Big Ten participant Illinois 52-3.
The Golden Flashes did rebound in a big way at home against Delaware State as they routed them 45-13 in Kent in Week 2.

Kent forced Delaware State to -33 yards of total offense. Delaware State QB Esayah Obado went just 3 of 8 for 5 yards. Even worse, he rushed 9 times for -68 yards.
It goes really without saying, but that is both impressive by Kent State and extremely embarrassing by Delaware State.
Also in the win, Kent State’s April Goss became the 2nd woman to record a point in an NCAA football game with an extra point.
Minnesota
The Golden Gophers started Saturday’s contest with a bit of a hangover effect as they failed to record a first down on their first 6 drives of the game.
After realizing they needed a change, the no huddle offense sparked the Golden Gopher’s offense as they started to click and get things going.
QB Matt Leidner finished 23 of 45 for 233 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.

The run game was also on point, which really opened things up for Leidner down field as Rodney Smith rushed for 108 yards on 21 carries. The Golden Gophers finished with 180 total yards on the ground.
The problem for Minnesota has been staying healthy. Receivers KJ Maye and Brandon Lingen are both questionable for the Golden Gophers this week against Kent. That adds to the already stacked injury report that features 4 other receivers who are questionable or out for Saturday.
Minnesota has been a 2nd half team through the first two games as they have scored 31 of 40 points in the 2nd half of games.

Kent State has been abysmal against the Big Ten in their history. That showed in their season opener against Illinois as they were dominated in every single aspect of the game.

Minnesota should be able to find success on both the ground and through the air here on Saturday. With their new upper tempo on offense, things should be relatively easy for them against Kent State.
