Duke Blue Devils
Duke began their season with a pair of notable non-conference victories over Temple and Northwestern. The Blue Devils shut out the Owls in their home opener, before traveling and defeating the Wildcats. ‘s team followed those wins up by hammering on an in-state foe.

Riley Leonard has brought life to the quarterback position at Duke. The sophomore signal caller has been accurate impressive in his first three starts. Leonard had a productive game against AT&T, going 11-12 and scoring four total touchdowns (2 pass, 2 rush).
Leonard seems to be gamer, and he’s up to 723 passing yards with five touchdowns to two interceptions, while rushing for 147 yards and two scores thus far.
There’s been a collective effort to replace star running back Mateo Durant. Jaylen Coleman and Justin Waters have split the touches early, with the former leading the team with 177 rushing yards, while scoring in each of Duke’s first three games. Waters has rushed for an identical 174 yards and scored twice in road win over Northwestern.
Jalon Calhoun is on pace to lead the Blue Devils in receiving for a second straight season, but the senior wideout’s status for this weekend remains in the air after missing the A&T game. Former quarterback Jordan Moore has stepped up at the position, catching 13 passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns.
Kansas Jayhawks
Life is quietly better when the Jayhawks are playing a good football.
Now while we’ve only experienced small samples of their success and a small helping this season, the aura in Lawrence just feels right. After winning their fourth men’s basketball national championship, the Jayhawks having given their fans something to cheer for. It’s well-deserved after so many years of failure, and Lance Leipold has the program in a good place.
Kansas breezed through Tennessee Tech in their home opener, and they’ve unexpectedly kept the party going. The Jayhawks traveled to Morgantown and out dueled West Virginia in their Big 12 opener, picking up a massive win as 14-point underdogs. KU then took on another familiar on-court foe last Saturday, and made some more magic.
Last weekend, Kansas (+9.5) defeated Houston on the road, 48-30, coming through again as big underdogs.
Jalon Daniels has put it all together this Fall. The dual-threat quarterback has brought an element of excitement to the offense, and his performance against WVU should have the Big 12 on notice. He took things ever further versus Houston, passing for 158 yards, rushing for 123 more, and scoring five total touchdowns (3 pass, 2 rush).
Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw Jr. have done a good job splitting the touches alongside Daniels. Neal led the team in rushing last season, and he’s scored four touchdowns through the first three contests. Hishaw Jr. has rushed for 119 yards and he scored twice in the upset win over West Virginia.
Lawrence Arnold and Luke Grimm have been the primary pass catchers early, catching 10 passes apiece.
