Here is my Crimson Tide Tigers free pick: I’m betting Under 52.5. LSU is favored by 5.5 in Baton Rouge, and I’m expecting a physical SEC game where scoring opportunities come at a premium. Both teams have enough offensive talent to make this number uncomfortable, but that’s exactly why sportsbooks aren’t giving away points. Alabama has allowed 170 points this season, while LSU has surrendered only 128.
Those defenses have been reliable enough to make me question whether either offense can sustain four quarters of efficient scoring.
There are easier ways to score 53 points than running into two SEC defenses with something to prove.
I’ll respect the Over trends without following them. LSU has gone Over in three straight games following a win, and Alabama has done so in four of its last five in that situation. Those numbers don’t change how I expect this matchup to unfold. My concern is a defensive turnover handing somebody seven easy points. That’s how a perfectly reasonable Under can turn ugly in a hurry, particularly with quarterbacks who aren’t afraid to challenge coverage.
I’m looking for contested drives, field goals instead of touchdowns and a game that stays tight into the fourth quarter.
Neither offense needs to disappear for this bet to cash.
I’ll take the defensive resistance and trust my betting system play on the Under 52.5.
