Reasons Florida Atlantic Will Win The C-USA
Devin Singletary
Singletary is a stat busting machine. The talented junior was one of the best backs in the country last year.
He ran for 32 touchdowns, over 1,900 yards, and averaged over 6 yards per carry. Anytime he touches the ball he is a threat to score and he had a number of highlight games last year.

If Singletary can stay healthy would it shock anyone if he ran for over 2,000 yards and had another 30+ touchdown season?
Expect a monster year from the talented running back.
Whoever lines up at QB
When De’Andre Johnson signed with FAU after a season in JUCO, I knew that FAU would have the talent at QB to take off. Little did I know Lane Kiffin was working on snagging Oklahoma transfer Chris Robinson as well.
Both of these QB’s were top 25 in their respective classes, and they both have the playmaking abilities to put up All-American numbers.
Jason Driskel was the starter for most of the season and he put up respectable numbers through the air, but it was his ability to score 8 touchdowns on the ground that will benefit either new QB.
Whoever lines up under center can expect to pile up at least 3,000 total yards and 25 touchdowns this season.
Talented D-Line
The Owls D-line should be the best in the conference. They are not only loaded with experience, they also have the talent to match.
The key player to watch will be sophomore Leighton McCarthy. He racked up 4 and a half sacks last year and should be a force on the edge against opposing tackles.
The big steal on this defensive line? Former top 10 recruit Kain Daub, who transferred from Florida State. If he can see playing time in a rotational role the FAU defense can simply pin their ears back and go after the QB.

Experience on the defense
The Owls defense last season was consistent getting to the QB, but their 38 sacks are largely skewed by the 14 they picked up against Akron and North Texas.
When you look at the returning players from the defensive side of the ball you immediately notice that 14 of their top 15 tacklers from last year all come back.
That experience should be even more valuable for a team that had a margin of victory of 24.8 points during their 10 game winning streak.
If the defense can stay healthy again we could be looking at a team that could reach a New Years Day Bowl.
Schedule eases up at the end of the season
The FAU schedule has a few tough opponents at the start of conference play, as they face UCF and Middle Tennessee in back to back road games, then face Marshall and La Tech in the middle of the schedule.
If they can come through those games unblemished the end of the schedule should treat them fairly nicely.

A home game against Western Kentucky, followed by a road trip to face UNT and ending at home against Charlotte could help the Owls wrap up a position in the C-USA title game.
Prediction: 11-1
There are only 2 swing games on the FAU schedule, Oklahoma in week 1 and at home against Marshall in mid-October.
Can they upset Oklahoma? It’s possible with their offensive firepower, but not likely. I think they can handle Marshall this year with their talent on defense and should punch another ticket to the C-USA championship game.
