2017 Football Preview – AAC – Green Wave
Looking for 2017 Tulane Green Wave predictions? The Green Wave because of their geography are always one of those sleeping giant programs. Last year they improved a little under coach Willie Fritz and this year they could again inch forward. Not expecting a leap though.

2017 Tulane Green Wave Predictions: Team Strengths
Can the Defense Be Even Better: Last year this unit was a surprise finishing in the upper half of the rankings in all major categories.
This season they have seven starters returning on defense and all of the new projected starters are upperclassmen.
The standout returner is defensive back Parry Nickerson. He is all AAC coming into the season and last year had 4 picks including one for a score.

DE Ade Aruna had 5 sacks a year ago and his production has gone up every season. If that trend continues he could be in for a very good senior campaign.
Running it Right at You: Willie Fritz teams love to run the ball and last year’s Green Wave was no exception. More than 220ypg.
They are deep at running back this season. Last year’s leading rusher Dontrell Hilliard returns. Similar to Aruna above his numbers have gotten better every year.
Darius Bradwell did not show a lot as a frosh but he is a primo athlete. He might be the QB at Louisville right now were it not for Lamar Jackson.
2017 Tulane Green Wave Predictions: Team Weaknesses
What Passing Offense?: Fritz favours the run but even though they have last year’s QBs on the roster it looks like they are going with a change.

Jonathan Banks started his career at K-State and then went the JC route. He is a dual threat that could improve the running and passing games.
Still he never played a down at KSU so even though he is a junior in eligibility he has not FBS experience.
The offensive line could be a concern this season as only two starters return from a year ago.
They are both on the right side which makes for a nice foundation but the left did not look all that good in the spring.
Banks is very mobile but he may need to be out of necessity. A season can get out of control fast if the O-Line is not up to the task.
Tulane Green Wave Prediction: 2-10
Things are going to be tougher for Fritz in year 2 at Tulane.
The schedule this season is a lot more difficult. They might open with Grambling but that is the only gimme.
In the AAC they get a lot of the upper echelon teams at home which might keep things closer but I am not expecting them to beat the likes of South Florida, Houston or Tulsa.

They might have a chance on the road against FIU or East Carolina and SMU but those could all be losses too. Maybe things flip with the scheduling in 2018.
