02-15-16 | Red Wings v. Islanders -149 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 43 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* New York Islanders Money Line -149 vs Detroit @ 1:05 ET - The Red Wings are off of a hard-fought 6-5 win vs Boston yesterday. That makes this a tough back to back spot for Detroit. The Red Wings have lost the 2nd game of their back to back FIVE STRAIGHT times! Detroit is expected to have Jimmy Howard between the pipes and he has gone 0-4 with a 4.00 GAA in his last 4 starts. Howard has an ugly .856 GAA in these starts and facing a hungry Islanders team won't help matters for the struggling netminder today. The Islanders are off of an ugly 6-3 loss at Carolina on Saturday and they can't wait to get back on the ice. Prior to that defeat, the Isles had won 3 straight games by a combined score of 16-5 and I look for the domination to return early this Monday afternoon. The Islanders have lost their first two games with Detroit this season by a combined score of 9 to 3 and the Isles are catching the Red Wings at the perfect time to get their revenge. Look for Detroit to drop their 5th straight game with Howard between the pipes as the Red Wings lose for the 6th straight time when they are playing the 2nd game of a back to back. Look for the Islanders, 8-4 this season when off of a loss by a margin of two goals or more, to improve to 13-7 on the season in their games against teams with a winning record. *8* New York Islanders Money Line Monday. |

02-14-16 | Flyers +156 v. Rangers | Top | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 49 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +155 @ New York Rangers @ 7:35 ET - The Flyers lost another tight one yesterday as they lost in overtime to the Devils. The Rangers are also off of an OT loss (5-4) to the Kings on Friday. This is a huge rivalry game and a big divisional match-up Sunday evening and the road team has won each of the last three meetings between these teams. The Flyers won 3-0 in their last visit to face the Rangers and I look for another huge effort tonight after the frustrating loss yesterday. Home ice just hasn't meant a lot in the meetings between these clubs this season and, that said, there is great line value with Philadelphia in this price range. The Flyers are 10-6 this season in road games with a posted total of 5 goals. Philadelphia is also 9-6 this season when they are off of a game where they were held to one goal or less. The Flyers are 16-11 this season in their games against teams with a winning record. Philadelphia has lost two straight to the Rangers but both were very close losses and, prior to this, the Flyers had won three straight against the Rangers by a combined score of 10-4. The Rangers have a losing record in Sunday games this season and they also have lost 8 of their past 10 games this season when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. After their 5-4 loss to the Kings Friday, look for the Rangers to fall again to the revenge-minded Flyers Sunday as the road team makes it 4 straight wins in this fierce rivalry. |

02-14-16 | Blues +119 v. Lightning | 2-1 | Win | 119 | 10 h 20 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* St Louis Blues Money Line +127 @ Tampa Bay @ 6:05 ET - St Louis won each of the meetings with Tampa Bay last season and already won the first meeting this season as well. The 3 wins have come by a combined margin of 10-4 for the Blues. The Lightning are off of a late win versus Nashville on Friday that could leave them a little flat here. TB had to rally to tie the game and then got the win after regulation. It was the type of win that can take a lot out of a team and let's not forget that the Lightning had lost their two prior games by a combined score of 9-3. The fact that TB got a tight, somewhat fortunate win on Friday did little to erase the doubts about the Lightning based on the way they've under-performed for much of this season including the back to back road losses that preceded the win over the Preds. The Blues appear to be back on track with wins in 2 of their past 3 games and it's been key that the offense is rolling again with having scored at least 4 goals in each of the two victories. The Blues are 55-34 in non-conference games the past three seasons and St Louis is 8-5 this season when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. Tampa Bay is an ugly 6-11 this season when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more and the line value is with a strong St Louis team at a nice underdog payback price in this one. |

02-13-16 | Predators +120 v. Panthers | Top | 5-0 | Win | 120 | 9 h 53 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Nashville Predators Money Line +120 @ Florida @ 7:05 ET - The Predators are fired up after a tight loss at Tampa Bay last night where they allowed the tying goal very late and then lost after regulation. The Preds will respond tonight by taking advantage of a floundering Panthers team. Florida made headlines this season with a huge mid-season run and certainly the Panthers have a solid overall record on the season. However, Florida has lost 3 of their past 4 games and both goalies struggled in last night's game. The Panthers have allowed 18 goals in their past 5 games and I look for a huge game from Predators goalie Carter Hutton tonight. He's a perfect 3-0 in non-conference action this season and certainly is well rested here. Conversely, the Panthers had to use both goalies in last night's game and both struggled. I don't see that getting any better here as Florida hosts a Predators team that has scored 15 goals in their past 4 games. Nashville also has revenge from a 2-1 home loss to Florida in early December. The Preds were already "ticked off" before last night's game and now they are even angrier after last night's frustrating result. Look for that to lead to a huge effort from Nashville tonight as the Panthers drop to 23-39 when off of a loss by a margin of two goals or more. After losing 5-3 last night, Florida struggles again tonight against the hungry Predators. *10* Nashville. |

02-13-16 | Devils v. Flyers -135 | 2-1 | Loss | -135 | 3 h 0 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -135 vs New Jersey @ 1:05 ET - The Devils have lost three straight road games and have totaled only 3 goals in those games. The Flyers are coming off of a huge home win over Buffalo by a 5-1 count for their 4th win in their past 7 games. Though Philly struggled with some recent tight losses prior to the victory over the Sabres, the Flyers have been a different team ever since the made some line changes last month. The result has been a much more potent (and therefore confident) offense that has helped lead the way as the Flyers are trying to make a push to get into playoff position. Philadelphia has averaged 3.4 goals per game in their past 7 games and they Flyers simply have too much offense for the Devils to keep up here. New Jersey is playing this game with home loss revenge as they lost to the Flyers 4-3 in early December. However, the Devils have won just 4 of 11 this season (and only 19 of 48 the past three seasons) when playing with home loss revenge. The Flyers have been able to maintain consistency when their offense is surging and Philadelphia has won 8 of 12 this season when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. After pounding the Sabres Thursday, look for the Flyers to stay hot on Saturday as they enter their most important weekend of the season in terms of a playoff push. Look for Neuvirth to get the start for the Flyers between the pipes as he has fared well against the Devils and should provide another solid outing Saturday afternoon. |

02-12-16 | Predators +138 v. Lightning | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 14 h 10 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Nashville Predators Money Line +140 @ Tampa Bay @ 7:35 ET - Tremendous line value here with Nashville. The Predators are off of a home loss to Washington (one of the top teams in the league) and this followed a big 6-2 win over San Jose. That said, the Predators are fired up about getting right back on track and they take to the road where they won all four games in their most recent road trip. This is a little two game road swing through Florida and the Preds know how critical these points are in the standings. Of course Tampa Bay feels the same way but the Lightning just haven't been right this season. Even when you think they might finally be turning the corner they turn around and perform the way they did on their two game road trip to Canada. Tampa Bay lost to Ottawa and Montreal by a combined score of 9-3 and now have some injury issues (and some flu) to deal with in the locker room. Nashville has averaged 4 goals per game in their past three games while Tampa Bay has been held to two goals or less in 5 of their past 7 games. The Predators won both match-ups with the Lightning last season and have already taken the first meeting this season as well. Their series dominance should continue tonight and is worth the investment as the Lightning are a little short-handed tonight with the recent personnel issues. The Preds are 8-5 this season when off of a loss by a multiple goal margin in their prior game and I see great line value with them at +140 in this spot as the inconsistent Lightning continue to struggle to get back on track. *8* Nashville Friday. |

02-11-16 | Sabres v. Flyers -155 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 1 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -155 vs Buffalo @ 7:05 ET - Long-time followers know I rarely lay much juice in the money line sports of MLB and NHL. However ,this situation with the Flyers absolutely warrants it. Philadelphia is off of a 4-1 loss to Anaheim and that is the first time since the calendar flipped to 2016 that the Flyers have lost by a multiple-goal margin. After this blowout loss on home ice to the Ducks, the Sabres are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Philadelphia will be fired up and ready to put forth a massive bounce back effort after the embarrassing defeat. The Sabres have lost 6 of their past 8 games and three of Buffalo's past 5 losses have come by a margin of 3 goals. Simply put, Buffalo is still having some issues and the injury bug hasn't helped matters for the Sabres of late. Philadelphia has payback on their minds here as they have surprisingly lost three straight to Buffalo including each of the last two games in Philly. The Flyers are well aware of this and need a "statement victory" tonight as they then get ready to take on some divisional foes in the upcoming schedule. The Flyers know they can ill afford to fall further in back of the playoff race. Both teams are off of ugly losses but Philadelphia is much more likely to bounce back. Not only do they have the home ice edge here, the Flyers are hosting a Sabres team that has won just 23 of 87 games when they are off of a loss by a multiple goal margin. |
|||||||
02-11-16 | Ducks v. Blue Jackets +122 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 122 | 10 h 2 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Columbus Blue Jackets Money Line +122 vs Anaheim @ 7:05 ET - The Blackhawks have a lot to do with this play tonight. Why? Because that is who knocked the Ducks out of the playoffs last spring in the Western Conference finals. That said, this is a huge lookahead spot for Anaheim as they have a trip to Chicago on deck after tonight's game at Columbus. The Blue Jackets have been getting stellar goaltending from Joonas Korpisalo but they suffered a tight loss (in the shootout) at home against the Islanders on Tuesday. That ensures the proper focus here for a Columbus team that had won 4 of 5 before the tight loss to the Isles. Although the Ducks have been hot, the lookahead situation here is something that can not be ignored and, prior to their big win at Philly, Anaheim was trounced 6-2 in a loss at Pittsburgh. The Ducks have faced Chicago twice so far this season and they lost the game preceding it each time and neither game as pretty as Anaheim was defeated 3-0 in one and 4-2 in the other. I look for the Blue Jackets to add to what has been a home-dominated series in recent meetings. Columbus won 5-3 when they hosted the Ducks last season and overall the home team has taken each of the last three meetings by a combined score of 13 to 6. Couple the home dominance with the situational edges and you have the makings of a big Blue Jackets win here at an attractive underdog price! |
|||||||
02-09-16 | Lightning v. Canadiens +117 | 2-4 | Win | 117 | 11 h 38 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *6* Montreal Canadiens +117 vs Tampa Bay @ 7:35 ET - Tampa Bay got hammered last night at Ottawa. Though the "knee jerk reaction" might be to back them off of a loss tonight, the Lightning are actually skating right into a hornets nest tonight. The Canadiens, though they got some measure of revenge with a win in Tampa in December, are still fuming about their playoff ouster at the hands of TB last spring. The Habs lost that series in 6 games and only managed one win on home ice. Look for Montreal to be fired up about defending home ice in their first shot at the Lightning north of the border since May! Montreal is starting to get back on track with back to back home wins by a combined 7-2 count heading into this showdown with Tampa Bay. The Lightning have won just 3 of their 10 Tuesday games this season. Tampa also has won just 3 of 7 in the 2nd night of a back to back this season. Certainly the situation favors Montreal here. The Canadiens have won 11 of 17 divisional games this season and, when they enter a game having played each of their prior three games at home, the Habs have won 16 of 25 the past three seasons combined. Wrapping up a four game homestand here, the Canadiens add another W to that solid mark as they get some more playoff revenge against a Lightning team that has won just 3 of 7 this season when playing with home loss revenge this season. |

02-09-16 | Islanders v. Blue Jackets +115 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 9 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *6* Columbus Blue Jackets Money Line +115 vs NY Islanders @ 7:05 ET - The Blue Jackets have won 4 of their last 5 games and Joonas Korpisalo has been fantastic between the pipes. The Islanders are off of an 8-1 blowout win over Edmonton but had lost 4 of their 6 prior games. The Isles are 6-10 this season when they are off of a win by a margin of two goals or more. Also, the Islanders have taken the first three games between these clubs this season and, as you would expect, Columbus is ready for revenge tonight. Although the Isles Thomas Greiss is back his 3-1 record his last 4 starts is masking the fact he has an .898 save percentage in those games. Compare that with Korpisalo who is 6-1-1 with a stellar .945 save percentage in the last six games he has started. Points are becoming more and more critical the further we get into the season. The Blue Jackets have been playing well overall but they know it's of critical importance to improve on a home record that has been subpar so far this season. Look for Columbus to pick up a pair of points on home ice tonight. |

02-08-16 | Lightning -135 v. Senators | 1-5 | Loss | -135 | 11 h 59 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Tampa Bay Lightning Money Line -135 @ Ottawa @ 7:35 ET - Tampa Bay has gotten red hot and there is no signs of the Lightning slowing down any time soon. TB has won 10 of their last 11 games and they won't overlook the Senators tonight. That's for certain because the Lightning did lose a tight game in overtime in their last visit to Ottawa. The Sens scored with just seconds left in overtime for the win over Tampa Bay. It was a close one which is unlike the other recent games in this series. The other four games in their match-ups dating back to November 2014 have all four been Lightning wins and Tampa Bay won all those by multiple goal margins including 3 of them by 3 goal-margins each time. The Sens just don't match-up well with the Lightning and, right now, Tampa Bay is definitely coming into their "hot zone" for this season. Guys like Tyler Johnson for the Lightning are finally healthier after the All Star break and Tampa Bay has simply been skating circles around the opposition of late. While TB comes into this game hot, Ottawa is going the other direction. The Senators are off of a big win (but it came against the struggling Maple Leafs) and, prior to that, the Sens had lost 5 of their 6 prior games. Ottawa has allowed 38 goals in their past 7 losses and this shows just how insanely weak the Senators defense and netminding has been over the past month. This one should be an absolute road rout and Tampa Bay is well worth the manageable price here as an away favorite. |

02-06-16 | Rangers v. Flyers -109 | 3-2 | Loss | -109 | 6 h 10 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -109 vs NY Rangers @ 1:05 ET - The Flyers are looking to avenge a tough 3-2 home loss to the Rangers 3 weeks ago. Prior to that defeat, Philadelphia had won three straight games in this series by a combined score of 10-4. Speaking of 3 game winning streaks, that is currently the length of Philly's most recent hot streak. As for the Rangers, they are off of a win but New York hasn't won three straight games since mid-November. Philly is making a strong push as they strive hard to get to the post-season and are really starting to gel after taking some time to adjust to their new coach coming into this season. The Flyers have won 16 of their 25 games this season against teams with a winning record. Also, when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more, Philadelphia has won 8 of 11 games. The Rangers, in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less, have lost 15 of 22 this season. New York has lost three of their last four road games since the tight win at Philadelphia three weeks ago. Great line value here with Philly considering how they have been playing and the fact that they are on home ice. |
|||||||
02-04-16 | Blue Jackets +130 v. Canucks | Top | 2-1 | Win | 130 | 14 h 32 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Columbus Blue Jackets Money Line +130 @ Vancouver @ 10 ET - The Blue Jackets have many big edges in this match-up. First off, they have played since the All Star break while Vancouver is likely to be rusty having not played since January 26th! This 8-day layoff is going to hurt the Canucks while, conversely, Columbus comes into this game off of a 5-1 loss at Edmonton Tuesday While that effort certainly looks ugly it also ensures that the Jackets come into this game fully focused on getting back on track and certainly Columbus is helped by having played on Tuesday while Vancouver is hurt by not having played a game in over a week. Another key factor with this play is that Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella is visiting his former team for the first time since he coached the Canucks in Vancouver. With how fiery Torts is there is no doubt he's instilled into his players how hard they better go for him tonight. He wants this game badly and you will see a huge effort from Columbus as a result. The road team has taken each of the last 3 meetings between these clubs and they have all been blowouts as the combined scores of the 3 games is 16-5 in favor of the road teams! Look for another road rout tonight as the situation for one is absolutely perfect. The Canucks have won just two of their seven home games with a posted total of 5.5 goals this season. Vancouver has 20 wins in their 50 games this season. Columbus, when facing a team with a losing record in the second half of a season, has won 31 of their last 47 games. I look for the Blue Jackets to continue this strong trend tonight in Vancouver in an ideal situation for a *10* Top Play on Columbus. |
|||||||
02-04-16 | Flyers +140 v. Predators | 6-3 | Win | 140 | 12 h 33 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +140 @ Nashville @ 8 ET - This one is just a value spot plain and simple. The Predators certainly are a solid overall team but they've scored a total of just ONE goal in their past two HOME games. Overall, in their last 3 games combined the Predators have scored a total of only 4 goals. Of course the reason the Predators have still managed to notch some wins in those games is because of solid defense and goaltending. But tonight the Preds host a Flyers team that is off of back to back wins and has scored 4 goals in each of those two victories. The wins came against solid teams too...the Capitals and the Canadiens. Philly is riding the emotional wave of those two wins...one before the break and one right after the break...and the Flyers have won 9 of a 14 in road games with a posted total of 5 goals this season. Also, when off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more this season Philly has won 7 of 10 so far this season! Philly does have a big home game with the Rangers on deck but the Predators have a big match-up with San Jose on deck and I look for the Predators goal-scoring troubles to again be an issue tonight. Look for the Flyers to notch another win in upset fashion on the road. |
|||||||
02-04-16 | Wild +132 v. Rangers | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 34 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Minnesota Wild Money Line +132 @ NY Rangers @ 7 ET - The Wild were so focused on scoring goals after the All Star break that they started to play a little "too loose" after the first period of their loss to the Islanders Tuesday. Look for Minnesota to "put it all together" tonight and play a complete game and notch a key road win. The Wild have scored 3 goals now in 3 of their past 4 games. Minny is facing a Rangers team that has allowed 3 goals in 3 straight games and, in these three games was shutout once and scored just two goals another time. That said, I see nice underdog line value here with a Minnesota team that I know is going to "bring it" in terms of effort tonight even though this is a non-conference game. Note that the Rangers are likely to get caught looking ahead to a showdown at Philadelphia that looms on the horizon for Saturday's action. The Rangers are playing with revenge here but they've lost 12 of 21 when playing with revenge so far this season. The Wild won 5-2 in Minneapolis in December and they can get another big win here on the road at New York. Minnesota is 7-3 this season when off of a game where they allowed 4 goals or more. Devan Dubnyk had been fantastic between the pipes and he'll bounce right back tonight after being pulled for the first time this season in the loss to the Isles Tuesday. The Rangers injury situation is getting worse as each game goes by and the hungry Wild are the underdog play here. |
|||||||
02-03-16 | Red Wings +145 v. Lightning | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 15 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Detroit Red Wings Money Line +145 @ Tampa Bay @ 8:05 ET - Some will be looking at the Lightning here because they have dropped both regular season match-ups with the Red Wings so far this season. However, let's not forget the power of revenge that the Red Wings still have on their minds because they blew a 3-2 series lead over the Lightning last spring and were ousted from the playoffs. Some may also look at Tampa Bay because they were so hot before the All Star break while Detroit only won 3 of their final 7 games before the break. However, the key relating to that is that nothing is worse for a hot team than to have time off. Tampa Bay was on a roll and their solid stretch of play has now been interrupted by the break. Conversely, the Red Wings needed a break to refocus and re-energize and prepare to get back on track immediately after the break. With this being the first game these teams have played at Tampa Bay since that fateful Game 7 for the Red Wings last spring, I have no doubts about the huge energy, motivation, and effort that Detroit will bring to the ice tonight. With that said, there is huge line value here with the Wings as a sizable underdog. Detroit is 11-6 in road games this season with a posted total of 5 goals or less. The Lightning have lost 14 of 23 games this season against teams with a winning record. Grab the road dog value with Detroit for a *7* play whose payback would be the equivalent of a *10* profit. That's value...especially considering the situational edges. |

01-27-16 | Predators v. Flames -102 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -102 | 13 h 56 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Calgary Flames Money Line -102 vs Nashville @ 9:35 ET - The Predators are 0-6 this season when playing on back to back days. The Preds snuck out a tough, hard-fought 2-1 win at Vancouver last night and Nashville now is in a very tough situation. The Predators have impressed on this road trip to Western Canada but they now play back to back nights and will have their back-up goalie between the pipes. Carter Hutton is expected to get the start tonight and don't put too much weight into the fact that he had a shutout in his last start. His long-term numbers tell the real story and tonight Hutton and the Preds are facing a very hungry Flames team that will be pressuring the goalie early and often. Calgary is not happy at all about the fact that they finished with just one win on their five game road trip. The Flames now want to make the most of this opportunity on home ice in front of the All Star Break. Calgary has won 13 of their last 17 games on home ice! That impressive streak for the Flames stretches all the way back to early November so it is certainly no fluke. Calgary already beat the Predators in Nashville last month and if you're concerned about the revenge angle here, note that the Preds are only 3-6 this season when playing with home loss revenge. In fact the Flames have won 4 straight meetings with the Predators and the scheduling situation tonight is perfect for the long-term series dominance to continue for Calgary in this one. |
|||||||
01-26-16 | Devils +150 v. Penguins | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 19 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* New Jersey Devils +160 @ Pittsburgh @ 7:05 ET - In back to back games now the Penguins have rallied from two goals down to get the win. They were down 2-0 in the 2nd period against the Flyers and rallied for the win. Next, the Penguins were down 3-1 in the 3rd period against the Canucks and rallied for the win. I am going to fade them here as they are ridiculously overpriced in this spot considering they had lost 5 of their past 7 games before now notching two very 'suspect' wins. The Pens now host a Devils team that comes in red hot with four straight wins and I feel this spot is offering beautiful underdog line value with a New Jersey team that is known for giving the Penguins some problems. The Devils have won 3 of the last 4 meetings with Pittsburgh and New Jersey has scored a total of 10 goals in these games while the Penguins have been held to a total of only 3 goals in these 4 games. The Pens are a money-burning 33-42 when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more and also an ugly long-term 81-102 when they are on home ice and the game has a posted total of 5 goals or less. New Jersey will slow the game down and frustrate the Pens here as the Devils make it 5 in a row heading into the All Star Break. |

01-25-16 | Bruins v. Flyers +100 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 3 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +100 vs Boston @ 7 ET - Look for a huge effort from the Flyers on home ice tonight. They had a game get cancelled because of the snowstorm effecting the northeast this past weekend and Philadelphia has been chomping at the bit to get back on the ice ever since they blew a two goal second period lead in their game at Pittsburgh on Thursday. The Flyers have won both meetings with the Bruins so far this season and, after back to back losses leading into this game, Philadelphia will be ready to take their record against Boston to 3-0 so far this season. The Flyers had won 5 of their past 6 games before tight losses in each of their past two games. Their coach really laid into them about their poor 5-on-5 play in the loss to the Penguins and I expect the Flyers to respond well to the criticism in tonight's game. Unlike the fired up Flyers, the Bruins are happy to be coming off of a win in their most recent game and that could have them a little back on their heels tonight as they come off of the 3-2 win over Columbus Saturday. The Flyers have won 15 of 23 games against teams with a winning record so far this season. That said, there is great line value with Philly as a home dog Monday. Boston is playing with revenge but that situation has seen the Bruins LOSE 15 of 24 this season. *10* Top Play PHILADELPHIA money line |

01-24-16 | Blues +142 v. Blackhawks | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 12 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* St Louis Blues Money Line +142 @ Chicago @ 7:05 ET Sunday - Tremendous line value here with the Blues. The Blackhawks certainly want to bounce back but they're playing their third game in four nights and they've managed a TOTAL of just ONE goal in their past two games. Amazingly, after a long winning streak, the Blackhawks have definitely come back down to earth and are now 'squeezing the sticks a bit too tight' as they have struggled in back to back games. Having to play a tough rival when it's a 3 games in 4 days situation is not easy and I look for the Hawks to struggle tonight. The Blues have revenge from a 4-2 home ice loss in mid-November and, in fact, that was the 4th time in the last 5 meetings between these teams that the road team prevailed. St Louis will also be fired up tonight because their road loss at Colorado saw them give up the game-tying goal very late and the eventual 2-1 loss came in the shootout. The Blues have been 'chomping at the bit' to get back on the ice! That loss was preceded by 5 wins in their 6 prior games and the Blues have not lost back to back games since early this month. Chicago, of course, is a damn good team but they have won just 5 of 12 this season when they are off of a game where they were held to one goal or less. Also, the Blackhawks are simply in a tough scheduling spot here. The Blues have won 52 of 87 divisional games the past three seasons and I love the underdog value here with a solid team like St Louis available off of a tight loss as a sizable dog playing with revenge. Nice spot for the Blues. Grab the plus money! |

01-24-16 | Flames +116 v. Hurricanes | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 13 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Calgary Flames +116 @ Carolina @ 6:05 ET Sunday - Even though the Flames are on the road for this one, Calgary has the scheduling edge over Carolina. The Hurricanes will be playing their third game in four nights while the Flames have had two full off days since their 4-2 win at Columbus on Thursday. Calgary is seeking revenge for a 4-1 loss at Carolina in their most recent meeting and the Flames did pummel the Canes by a 5-0 count in their meeting prior to that Calgary loss. Although that game game was at Calgary, the Flames did also win in their prior visit to Carolina before the 4-1 loss last season. Calgary is 8-5 this season when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more and, right now, their opponent has been struggling to score goals. The Hurricanes have lost three of their past four games and have scored a TOTAL of just 4 goals in these 4 games. The Canes are off of a 4-1 home loss to the Rangers Friday but don't look for the bounce back. The Hurricanes are have lost 40 of their past 64 games when they are off of a game where they allowed 4 goals or more. Also, Carolina has lost 48 of their last 76 non-conference games. Great line value with the road dog here. |

01-23-16 | Wild +122 v. Sharks | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 60 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Minnesota Wild Money Line +122 @ San Jose @ 4:05 ET - I look for the road team to make it three in a row in this series. The Sharks won in their last trip to Minnesota and the Wild won in their last trip to San Jose. Minnesota enters this game off of a 3-0 win at LA that got them back into the win column. Look for the Wild to build off of that win as they had been slumping but they catch the Sharks at a good time to make it two straight wins. San Jose has a big game on deck with their biggest rival, the LA Kings tomorrow on Sunday. the Sharks are off of a win at Arizona but they lost their most recent home game as they hosted Ottawa after a big win over rival Dallas. That was a bad scheduling spot and, just like that situation, this is also a tough scheduling spot for San Jose. The Sharks are an ugly 4-8 this season in home games with a posted total of 5 goals. The Wild are 18-7 the past three seasons when they are off of a shutout win in their prior game. Minnesota also is 4-2 this season when they enter a game having played each of their prior games on the road. Also, the Wild are a solid 12-8 this season in their games against teams with a winning record. Grab the road dog. |

01-23-16 | Canucks +168 v. Penguins | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 5 h 31 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Vancouver Canucks Money Line +168 @ Pittsburgh @ 12:35 ET - Pittsburgh is in the perfect fade spot here. The Penguins are off of a huge, much-needed win against their in-state rival. The Flyers had absolutely owned the Pens in recent meetings and that included match-ups in Pittsburgh. That said, the fact that the Penguins are off of an emotional home win where they came back from being down 2-0 in the 2nd period could absolutely leave them a little flat here. It's inevitable. As for the Canucks, I am well aware of the fact that Henrik Sedin is out and, in fact, I look for Vancouver to rally around his absence. The Canucks suffered a home loss - a tight 3-2 defeat - in their first match-up with the Pens this season but, last season, the Canucks won both meetings with the Penguins by a combined score of 8-0. Just like the Flyers, the Canucks have been a bit of a nemesis to the Pens in recent meetings. That said I feel there is tremendous line value here with the big road dog when you consider the situation. The Penguins, before their key win over Philly, had lost five of their past seven games. The Canucks enter this game having won 3 of their last 4 and 9 of their past 15 games. Vancouver is 4-2 this season when playing with home loss revenge. As for Pittsburgh, other than their win over the Canucks they've gone 8-13 in games against Western Conference teams and I look for Vancouver to provide match-up problems just like they did in last season's two games against the Penguins. Huge line value with the road dog! |

01-22-16 | Red Wings v. Sabres +120 | 3-0 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 8 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Buffalo Sabres Money Line +120 vs Detroit @ 7:05 ET - The Red Wings are hurting right now. Brad Richards is expected to miss tonight's game. Tomas Tatar is likely to play but he's been battling the flu. Also, Niklas Kronwall remains out with his knee injury. Detroit is facing a highly motivated Buffalo team that seeks revenge after losing their most recent game against the Red Wings. I see great underdog line value here with the home dog Sabres as they've played Detroit tough all season long even though they have only one win to show for it. Buffalo has lost two of their first three match-ups with the Red Wings this season but one came in the shootout and the other loss came on a goal with just two minutes to go. The Sabres seek revenge tonight and they're catching Detroit at a good time as the Red Wings have lost 3 of their last 4 and 6 of their last 11. The 11 game run has been characterized by struggling to put the puck in the back of the net as the Red Wings have been held to 2 goals or less in 9 of those 11 games. Simply put, Detroit should not be the sizable road favorite they are for this game tonight. Buffalo is off of a loss but previously had won 4 of their past 5 and the Sabres scored 3 goals or more in 3 of the 4 wins. Also, Buffalo has allowed two goals or less in 5 of their last 6 games. For the Sabres this is their only game in a 4 day period while the Red Wings have a home date with Anaheim on deck tomorrow night. Grab the dog in this one! |

01-21-16 | Flyers +140 v. Penguins | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 21 h 49 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +140 vs Pittsburgh @ 7:05 ET - The Flyers have been playing solid hockey for quite some time now and yet the markets don't seem to have caught up with that as of yet. The fact is that Pittsburgh has been quite inconsistent for some time now and they also have not fared well at against Philadelphia the past two seasons. The Penguins have lost eight of their last nine games against the Flyers and that includes Philly winning 5 straight match-ups at Pittsburgh. Needless to say, the Penguins don't look anything at all like a team that should be favored in this price range. Not only due to the recent series domination of the Flyers but also due to the fact that the Penguins enter this game having lost 15 of their past 23 games! Philadelphia comes into this game off of a loss but the Flyers had previously won 5 of their past 6 games. Philly is right behind Pittsburgh in the Metropolitan Division standings and this is a fierce rivalry so you can bet on the Flyers being ready here for more reasons than one! Philadelphia is an impressive 8-4 this season in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. The Flyers, off of a loss, have shown the propensity to bounce back in recent games. The Penguins certainly haven't as the last time the Penguins were able to avoid a two game losing streak was in late November! In other words, off of a single loss, look for the Penguins to once again start another unwanted streak...a losing one. The Pens have been stringing together back to back losses (and longer losing streaks too) for the past two months. That continues here as the hungry Flyers continue their march up the standings. |

01-20-16 | Blues +107 v. Red Wings | Top | 2-1 | Win | 107 | 12 h 28 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play St Louis Blues +107 @ Detroit @ 8:05 ET - While both teams have some injury issues right now I feel the situation is a little more impacting for the Red Wings right now as Detroit is without Niklas Kronwall due to a knee injury. Detroit and St Louis squared off three times in calendar year 2015 and the Red Wings won each game. That included an overtime match-up in St Louis in November so the Blues are playing this game with home loss revenge after that tight defeat. In fact, all 3 of the aforementioned games have been tight losses and, as you would expect, the Blues are chomping at the bit to get some measure of revenge here. St Louis comes into this match-up having won 4 of their last 5 games and the Blues have averaged 4 goals per game in the 4 victories. Conversely, the Red Wings have been struggling to find the back of the net and Detroit is averaging under 2 goals per game in their last six games and they've lost 2 of their last 3 games. Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek has been playing well lately but he does have a losing record in home starts so far this season. The Blues Brian Elliott has been playing very well of late and has a solid winning record in road starts this season. St Louis enters this road contest coming off of a 4-game homestand and the Blues are 5-2 this season when they enter a game having played each of their three prior games on home ice. Also, St Louis is 13-4 the past three seasons combined when they enter a game on a streak of 3 or more consecutive overs. With the Blues offense clicking right now, and the Red Wings struggling to score, the underdog on the road is a nice value in this one. Detroit has been off two days since their home loss to the Flyers on Sunday but rest can sometimes lead to rust and the Red Wings have won just 17 of 39 games the past three seasons when they enter a game after two or more days of rest. The Blues are positioned well to get their revenge tonight. |

01-19-16 | Bruins +104 v. Canadiens | Top | 4-1 | Win | 104 | 26 h 45 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Boston Bruins Money Line +104 @ Montreal @ 7:35 ET - Big revenge game for the Bruins as they lost the outdoor game on 'home ice' to the Canadiens on New Year's Day. The Habs, other than that win, have truly been struggling for a long period of time. Conversely, the Bruins have got back on track since the embarrassing 5-1 loss to Montreal. With that said, I am grabbing the great line value that is afforded here since the Bruins are on the road for this one. For Montreal, home ice has been nothing of special of late. They continue to struggle as they have certainly missed the consistent presence of having a Carey Price between the pipes. The Canadiens have lost an incredible 16 of their last 20 games. It's an incredible futility rate ever since their hot start the first two months of the season. The Bruins are going the other direction of late as Boston has at least earned a split of their past 6 games by winning the last two. The Bruins hard work is starting to pay off as they have earned victories in each of their last two games and they have outshot their opponents in four of their past six games and that includes outshooting the opposition by a double digit margin in three of those four contests. The Canadiens are off of a 5-2 loss at Chicago and a bounce back is unlikely here. Not only are the facing the revenge-minded Bruins here, the Habs just haven't been able to get back on track. They are 3-7 this season when off of a loss by a multiple goal margin and I look for their slump to continue Tuesday. |

01-18-16 | Sabres +135 v. Coyotes | 2-1 | Win | 135 | 13 h 41 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Buffalo Sabres Money Line +135 @ Arizona @ 9:05 ET - Great line value with a Buffalo team that has had a boost with the return of goalie Robin Lehner and that is starting to play much better under coach Dan Bylsma. The Sabres head into Arizona having won 3 of their last 4 games overall. Also, the Sabres have defeated the Coyotes in each of their last two meetings and that includes a victory at Arizona last season. The Sabres have dominated the last two meetings by a combined score of 9 to 3 in the two wins and I look for another big effort on the road Monday. The Coyotes have scored a total of just three goals in their last two games with Buffalo and Arizona, overall, comes into his game having scored a total of just two goals in their last two games. The Coyotes have won just 7 of their 21 games against Eastern Conference teams this season. Even though Arizona is playing this game with revenge, the Coyotes have won just 19 of their last 65 games when playing with revenge! Also, if you're looking for Arizona to bounce back because they are off of a shutout loss it may not pan out, the Coyotes have lost 27 of their last 42 games when they are off of a game where they were held to one goal or less. Last, but certainly not least, even though Arizona is in the middle of a lengthy homestand it may not help them as they have lost 15 of their last 21 games when they enter a match-up having played each of their three prior games on home ice. Great value with the dog here has led to *8* Buffalo Sabres Monday |
|||||||
01-17-16 | Flyers +140 v. Red Wings | 2-1 | Win | 140 | 11 h 58 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +140 @ Detroit @ 7:35 ET - The Flyers are off of a tough loss in the shootout yesterday at home against the Rangers. They felt they played very well and that they certainly deserved more than the one point they got in that one by sending it into overtime. The Flyers had won four straight games before that shootout loss and I see good line value with Philly installed as a healthy underdog against the Red Wings here. Detroit has lost four of their last six meetings with the Flyers and that includes a 7-2 loss at Philadelphia in the most recent meeting. The Red Wings enter this game after a successful road trip out west. Coming back east after a lengthy road trip to the west always tends to be tough in that first game back. The Flyers will be on top of their game after playing yesterday (and I also expect Shayne Gostisbehere to be sharper in his second game back). Conversely, the Red Wings may be a little "off their game" after the long west coast road trip and with having played only one game since Monday's loss at LA. Look for the Flyers to take advantage here as the Red Wings may not be on top of their game for this one. Detroit has lost four of their past five home games! Also, the Red Wings have lost 17 of their past 28 Sunday games. The Flyers are 14-8 against teams with a winning record this season and 7-4 in road games with a posted total of 5 goals this season. |

01-17-16 | Panthers +135 v. Lightning | 1-3 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 29 m | Show
*8* Rickenbach NHL *8* Florida Panthers Money Line +135 @ Tampa Bay @ 5:05 ET - The Panthers recently were one of the hottest teams in the league with their lengthy losing streak. They then suffered a tough loss after regulation at Vancouver. Those types of losses are tough to bounce back from. The Panthers streak ended and it was tight loss. Sure enough, the Panthers not only didn't bounce back, they were blasted 6-0 in one of the ugliest games of the season for Florida as they got blasted at Calgary. That type of a defeat (SIX to ZERO) is one that guarantees a response from the team on the wrong end of such a beatdown. That, of course, doesn't guarantee a victory but, the point is, the Panthers will be ready to go Sunday, especially as they get their head coach back behind the bench after he missed the loss to the Flames. That was understandable as his mother had passed away. Look for the Panthers to get back on track now that they are back on the East Coast and it starts with this game at Tampa Bay. Florida catches the Lightning off of an overtime win versus the Penguins on Friday. The Lightning have lost 13 of 20 games against teams with a winning record this season. Also, Tampa Bay has lost 10 of 14 games this season when they are off of a game where they scored four goals or more. The Panthers are 11-6 the past three seasons combined when they enter a game with three or more days of rest. Florida has fresh legs here as they have been off since Wednesday and the Panthers also have won 5 of their 6 Sunday games this season. |

01-16-16 | Rangers v. Flyers -105 | 3-2 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 3 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -105 vs NY Rangers @ 1:05 ET - The Flyers come into this game riding a four game winning streak. Looking up in the standings at the Rangers, Philadelphia knows how important this game is as it is certainly not too early to be looking closely at the standings in the race for a post-season spot. These teams are hated rivals and, right now, it's a case of hot versus not. The Flyers are going for their fifth straight victory while the Rangers have not even been able to put together a two game winning "streak" since before Thanksgiving! The Rangers are expected to rest #1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist today and that means Antti Raanta is likely to be between the pipes this afternoon. Raanta has struggled badly of late with a .794 save percentage in his last 4 games (2 starts). Facing a red hot Philly team that also gets a boost with the return of Shayne Gostsibehere to the ice is not going to be a good match-up for Raanta. The Flyers have defeated the Rangers three straight games and they catch the Blueshirts reeling with only 7 wins in their last 22 games as the Rangers are off of another loss - to the rival Islanders - on Thursday. The timing here is perfect for the Flyers to stay hot. Philadelphia has won 14 of 21 games against teams with a winning record this season. Also, Philly has won six straight games on home ice! |

01-15-16 | Blackhawks v. Maple Leafs +136 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 19 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Toronto Maple Leafs Money Line +136 vs Chicago @ 7:05 ET - Great value here with a home dog set up nicely for the upset win. I am well aware of the fact that the Blackhawks have won 9 straight games but the 9th win was a tough, hard-fought battle at Montreal last night. Not only does that make this a back to back spot for Chicago and some tired legs on the ice, it also means that Scott Darling is expected to get the start between the pipes for the Hawks. Darling has not fared well at all on the road this season. Away from home, Darling has a subpar .892 save percentage and a 3.23 GAA and the Hawks have only won ONE of his SIX road starts. The Maple Leafs will have James Reimer between the pipes and he's been playing very well since returning from injury. Reimer has a .948 save percentage in his last 4 games (3 starts) and he's also been at his best against teams from the Western Conference. In non-conference action Reimber has a .945 save percentage. I am well aware of the fact that the Maple Leafs are off of a home loss to Columbus but the Leafs actually outshot the Blue Jackets by a 42 to 22 margin. Also, the Maple Leafs - prior to netting only 1 goal against the Jackets in spite of their efforts - have been scoring very well on home ice and I expect them to pressure a road-weary Blackhawks team early and often in this one. This is a contrarian play as everyone will want to back the streaking Hawks but I correctly called for the Panthers winning streak to end when it ended in a back to back situation in Western Canada and now I am calling for the Hawks winning streak to end in a back to back in Eastern Canada. Great line value with the home dog Maple Leafs here. |

01-13-16 | Bruins v. Flyers -105 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 13 h 54 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -105 vs Boston @ 8:05 ET - I am well aware of the fact Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere is out with a knee injury and that Philadelphia has been a better team with him on the ice this season. However, there is still tremendous line value with the Flyers on home ice here. For one thing, there is certainly no shortage of motivation as the Flyers are currently behind the Bruins in the Eastern Conference standings and Philly knows this game is an important one as it certainly is not too early to start worrying about securing a playoff spot. Secondly, the other key to this play is simply that it is a case of hot versus not. The Flyers have won three straight games overall and they have been especially strong on home ice for many weeks now. Philadelphia is 7-1-1 in their last 9 home games and they will bring another huge effort tonight for their rabid fans! The Bruins have been heading the other direction of late as Boston has lost 7 of their last 9 games. Also, the B's have been held to just a single goal in three of their last four road games. Overall, scoring has not been coming easy for Boston as they have been held to two goals or less in 7 of their last 10 games. Don't look for things to 'magically' turn around for the Bruins as they gone 1-4 this season when they are off of a game where they were held to one goal or less. Also, even though Boston is playing this game with revenge from a home loss earlier this season, the Bruins have lost 14 of 20 games this season when looking to avenge a defeat! The Flyers have won 13 of 20 games this season against teams with a winning record. Also, Philadelphia is a solid 38-26 in home games with a posted total of 5.5 goals the past three seasons. |

01-11-16 | Panthers v. Canucks +100 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 12 h 11 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Vancouver Canucks Money Line +100 vs Florida @ 10:05 ET - Unfortunately I have lost twice now trying to fade the Panthers now that their streak has reached beyond 10 games. However, my plays really weren't bad. Florida actually got outshot 32 to 16 at Ottawa and then 25 to 14 at Edmonton. Yes, that's right, the Panthers amazingly beat the Oilers last night despite registering just 14 shots on goal! Now, in a back to back spot and facing a very hungry Canucks team that is rested, I see Florida's 12-game winning streak coming to a grinding halt. Even with yesterday's win, the Panthers are still just 28-43 in non-conference games the past three seasons and Florida now has a back to back situation to deal with as well. The Canucks are off of a 3-2 home loss to Tampa Bay and this is part of a fantastic scheduling stretch for Vancouver where they have just 2 games in a span of 7 days (from the 7th to the 13th). Beginning on the 14th the Canucks go on a lengthy road trip. That means this home match-up with Florida is ultra-important for Vancouver and certainly the Canucks are excited about this opportunity to end the Panthers 12-game run plus to get the win over former goalie Roberto Luongo who spent 8 years here in Vancouver earlier in his career. Huge scheduling edge here for the Canucks and they take advantage of a Panthers team that is starting to wear down and has been outshot by a 169 to 106 margin in their past five games! That's an average of 34 to 21 and, needless to say, it's amazing the Panthers have still been winning. The run ends tonight. Â |

01-10-16 | Panthers v. Oilers +120 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 44 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Edmonton Oilers Money Line +120 vs Florida @ 9:35 ET - The Panthers have been on an incredible winning streak but this is the front end of a tough back to back situation in Western Canada. With the Panthers facing the Oilers in Edmonton tonight and then the Canucks in Vancouver tomorrow night, it was announced that #1 goalie Roberto Luongo would get the start Monday. That means Sunday's starter, already announced as Al Montoya, is certainly not on par with Luongo. I'll give Montoya credit as he's played extremely well with the Panthers this season. However, I got to see plenty of this guy in his four years in San Antonio (with the Rampage in the AHL) and, again, he's nowhere close to being a Luongo. Last season his GAA with the Panthers was a 3.01 goals against average. This is his FIRST ROAD START since the streak got going - earlier he started on the road after the Panthers had what turned out to be win #1 of this streak - and this is a lot of pressure for Montoya. He doesn't want to be the guy to let the team down and see their streak end and you know he's going to be pressured hard by the Oilers. Edmonton's overall record is not that impressive but they've been playing very well on home ice. The Oilers are off of a loss versus Tampa Bay but Edmonton had previously won 9 of their last 11 on home ice. The Oil want this game badly as they want to be the ones to end the Panthers streak. Florida is just 27-43 in their last 70 games against Western Conference opponents and this trip to Western Canada is traditionally a tough one for teams from the southeastern US. Everyone is gunning to end Florida's streak and the set-up here is perfect for Edmonton to do just that. |

01-09-16 | Islanders v. Flyers +100 | Top | 0-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 58 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +100 vs New York Islanders @ 1:05 ET - The Islanders come into this game off of an ugly 4-1 loss versus Washington. That was the 6th loss for the Isles in their last 10 games. The Islanders have been held to 2 goals or less in 7 of their last 10 games and I look for the Isles to struggle to keep up with a Flyers team that has been playing very well at home. In fact, other than struggling on a recent 3-game West Coast road trip (always seems tough for Philly to play well out there), the Flyers have been playing very well. They come into this game off of back to back wins versus Montreal and at Minnesota. Philadelphia's home win over Montreal brings the Flyers run on home ice to 4 straight and 6 wins in their last 8 home games. In fact, the Flyers most recent home loss was to the Islanders on December 8th, a 4-3 loss. That means a little payback is on order for Philly here. This is especially true since they have lost both match-ups with this division rival so far this season. Interestingly the Islanders have an aversion to playing on Saturdays as they have lost 36 of their last 56 Saturday games! The Flyers have lost both of their games against the Islanders this season but, against the rest of the league. Philly has won 12 of 17 games against teams with a losing record this season! They get the job done on home ice in this early game Saturday to make it 5 in a row on home ice! |

01-07-16 | Panthers v. Senators -105 | Top | 3-2 | Loss | -105 | 11 h 5 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Ottawa Senators Money Line -105 vs Florida @ 7:35 ET - Streaks are meant to be broken and the red hot Panthers are in a "pick'em price range' here for a reason. Florida has won 10 straight games but everyone in the hockey world knows that and yet they are only a pick'em here. Why would that be? Well streaks are indeed meant to be broken and Ottawa has been a rock solid team on home ice for many weeks now and you can bet that the Senators (just like everyone else in the league right now when facing the Panthers) will be going hard in hopes of taking Florida down. The Sens overall unimpressive record of late has a lot to do with plenty of road games. On home ice this Ottawa team had won 7 of their 8 prior games before the loss to the Devils by a 3-0 shutout on December 30th. The Senators have since played two road games and they are anxious to get back to work on home ice tonight and start their next winning streak at home by ending the current run of the streaking Panthers. Florida uncharacteristically (even during this current winning streak) exploded for 5 goals in their win at Buffalo Tuesday. The Panthers are 16-29 the last three seasons combined when off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. Florida also is 16-28 the past three seasons combined when on the road in a game with a posted total of 5.5 goals. The Senators are 9-5 this season in home games with a posted total of 5.5 goals and the Sens are 9-4 when they enter a game on a streak of 3 or more consecutive unders. Fresh legs for Ottawa here and they are on a long-term 155-110 run when they enter a game with two or more days of rest! Fresh legs, high motivation, and home ice = big Sens win! |

01-06-16 | Devils +130 v. Canadiens | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 22 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play New Jersey Devils Money Line +130 @ Montreal @ 7:05 ET - Other than a 5-1 win outdoors against Boston on New Year's Day, the Habs are struggling badly. They have allowed 32 goals in their last 9 games not played outside! That's an average of 3.56 goals per game and they simply, especially in a back to back spot, are not going to be able to match the tough defensive-minded hockey that the Devils have been playing. New Jersey has allowed a total of just 5 goals in their last four games. As you would expect with such solid efforts in their own zone, the Devils have been winning with having won 3 straight before the 1-0 home loss to Detroit on Monday. That loss sets the Devils up nicely for a bounce back here, especially since the Canadiens were in action on the road last night - a 4-3 loss at Philly. The Devils are 10-6 this season in games against teams with a winning record. New Jersey is also a solid 9-5 this season when off of a game where they were held to one goal or less. The Canadiens are just 2-4 this season when off of a game where they allowed 4 goals or more. The Habs have lost 12 of their last 15 games and a tough back to back spot with travel involved as well is not a good spot for Montreal to suddenly turn things around. Great line value with the Devils here. Grab the solid plus money underdog for a Top Play. |

01-05-16 | Canadiens v. Flyers -115 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 13 h 32 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -115 vs Montreal @ 7:35 ET - Montreal started off the season on fire but they've been slumping for quite some time now and the absence of goalie Carey Price (knee injury) continues to cause problems. The Canadiens have lost 11 of their last 14 games. They are expected to have Ben Scrivens between the pipes. In his NHL career he's had a goals against average up near a full 3.00 and he already allowed 3 goals in his first start with the Habs. The Flyers are fired up about this game tonight. While the Canadiens come into this one happy about the 5-1 shellacking they put on the Bruins at Gillette Stadium on New Year's Day in the outdoor game in the Boston area, the Flyers come into this game steaming mad. Philadelphia had a very tough west coast road trip and they are fired up about being back on home ice and getting back on track in a building where they have won three straight games and five of their last seven. The Flyers have won 10 of 17 games against teams with a winning record so far this season. While you may think the extra rest is a big benefit for Montreal here they are 0-3 this season when they enter a game with three days or more of rest. Sometimes rest turns to "rust" for a team and the Habs certainly have been an example of that this season. Additionally, them coming off of such a big, satisfying win and the Flyers all fired up from recent losing means that the situation favors Philly in a big way. Play Philadelphia on the money line as a *10* Top Play. |

01-05-16 | Stars +100 v. Rangers | 2-6 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 4 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Dallas Stars Money Line +100 @ NY Rangers @ 7:05 ET - The Stars are off of back to back losses and so now everyone is asking what is wrong with Dallas. Of course that's because they've been the best team in the NHL this season. The fact is that Dallas should bounce right back here as they are fully intent on wrapping up their three game road trip with a win. The Stars have won 12 of 15 games this season when facing a team with a winning record. Also, Dallas is a perfect 7-0 this season when they are off of a game where they allowed 4 goals or more. The Stars won both games with the Rangers last season and they catch New York at the perfect time to continue series dominance as the Rangers are slumping right now with losses in 13 of their last 18 games. The Rangers have lost 8 of 13 games this season when facing a team with a winning record. Also, the Rangers have lost 6 of 9 games this season when off of a loss by a margin of two goals or more in their prior game. In other words, even though the Rangers are off a 3-0 shutout loss at Florida it does not mean a bounce back should be expected here. This is a fantastic line value spot to back the #1 team in the league so far this season. They are hungry, focused, and ready to end their road trip on a winning note. |

01-05-16 | Capitals -106 v. Bruins | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 3 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Washington Capitals Money Line -105 @ Boston @ 7:05 ET - After back to back road losses the Capitals know they need to quickly get back on track. In the first game of this five game road trip the Caps started a back-up goalie and lost. Then #1 goalie Holtby had a rare poor game against the Blue Jackets Saturday and the Capitals lost 5-4. Washington is 11-4 this season when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. Also, the Capitals are 7-3 when off of a divisional game and 7-3 when playing against a team with a winning record this season. Boston is well-rested as they come into this game having been off since the New Year's Day loss to Montreal in the outdoor game at Gillette Stadium. The extra rest is unlikely to help the Bruins though as they are 1-4 this season (and 7-16 the last 3 seasons) when they enter a game with 3 or more days of rest. Also, Boston has won just 3 of 9 games this season when off off of a loss by a margin of 2 goals or more. Even though the Bruins play this game with revenge from a 4-1 loss at Washington in November, the Bruins are an ugly 6-13 this season when playing with revenge. The Capitals have won four straight games against Boston by a combined score of 13 to 1. The Bruins come into this game having lost 4 of their last 5 games and allowing 19 goals in the five games! They simply can't keep the puck out of their own net. This is the perfect spot for the best team in the Eastern Conference so far this season to get right back on track. |

01-04-16 | Kings v. Avalanche +125 | 1-4 | Win | 125 | 13 h 6 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Colorado Avalanche Money Line +130 vs Los Angeles @ 9:05 ET - The LA Kings have certainly been hot but this looks like the perfect spot to be a 'trap game'. Los Angeles was at home against the Flyers Saturday and now has this one game 'road trip' followed by a stretch of four more games at home. It truly is an odd scheduling quirk facing the Kings here and they are absolutely in the wrong place a the wrong time. The Avalanche are fired up as they are off of back to back losses - both on home ice and the most recent by an embarrassing 4-0 final score. The Avs will be ready to bounce back and they are also seeking revenge for a tight 2-1 loss at Los Angeles in October. The Avalanche are 7-3 this season (and 32-17 the last 3 seasons combined) when they are off of a loss by a margin of 2 goals or more. Coming off of a 4-0 home loss, this is the perfect spot to back the Avalanche at a solid home dog value price of +130. The Avalanche also are hosting a Kings team that went just 8-18 in January games the past two years! The Kings have been hot and the Avs certainly have not, but this is the perfect spot for an upset win for Colorado on home ice. |

01-04-16 | Red Wings +102 v. Devils | 1-0 | Win | 102 | 11 h 7 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Detroit Red Wings Money Line +102 @ New Jersey @ 7:05 ET - This is a rare, double revenge spot for the Red Wings. Both of their games with the Devils this season have been tight losses. Both occurred last month and one was a 4-3 loss and the other was a 3-2 loss. The Red Wings are off of a road win at Buffalo but after this game at New Jersey the rest of the road trip features all games out west beginning with Thursday's game at San Jose. That said, Detroit is putting extra emphasis on getting this road win while they are still in the eastern time zone. The road trips out west are always a tough test so the Red Wings need the all important W tonight. The Devils enter this game on a 3-game winning streak but when entering a game on a winning streak of 3 games or more, New Jersey has a 2-6 record in this situation the past three seasons combined. The Red Wings already began the New Year with a win and they are now 16-10 in January games the past three seasons combined. I like the value here with Detroit playing with double revenge but coming in as an underdog since they are on the road. This is extra value because in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less the Red Wings have a winning record this season while in home games with a posted total of 5 goals or less the Devils have a losing record. |
|||||||
12-31-15 | Penguins +138 v. Red Wings | 5-2 | Win | 138 | 11 h 34 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Pittsburgh Penguins Money Line +138 @ Detroit @ 6:05 ET - The Penguins are off of a tight home loss to the Maple Leafs last night but had previously won two of their three prior games. Feeling like they had turned the corner, Pittsburgh is not happy at all about the loss last night to Toronto. As for the Red Wings, not only has Detroit not turned the corner, they haven't even yet found the corner. Detroit has lost 7 of their last 10 games and the Red Wings have not managed back to back wins since the beginning of the month. Joe Louis Arena certainly has no longer been the tough place to play that it once was. The Red Wings have lost three of their last four home games and that's why there is exceptional line value here with the Penguins. Detroit is getting line shading here based on home ice when the reality is they have no been just as bad at home as they've been on the road this season. As for the Penguins, they've been just as good on the road as they have been at home. The value is with the road dog in this one. Pittsburgh still remembers the 5-1 beating on home ice that they took the last time they faced the Red Wings. Tonight it is payback time! |

12-30-15 | Flyers +144 v. Sharks | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 15 h 19 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +145 @ San Jose @ 10:35 ET - Tremendous line value here with the Flyers. Sure the Sharks have home ice but that has been much of an edge this season! San Jose is 4-10 in their 14 home games this season. The Sharks have lost 4 straight and 7 of their last 8 at the SAP Center. Amazingly, San Jose has allowed FOUR goals or more in SEVEN of their last TEN games. It is hard to win hockey games that way and the Sharks are off of another home loss (6-3 defeat) against the Avalanche on Monday. The Flyers are off of a 4-2 road loss at Anaheim Sunday so Philadelphia has the rest edge here. Also, Philly was tied at 2 with the Ducks in the 3rd period of that game. The Flyers have been playing very well for weeks now. In fact, on the SEASON, the Flyers are 6-2 in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. The Sharks, on the SEASON, are 2-7 in home games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. Look for Philadelphia to get revenge for a 1-0 home loss to the Sharks last month where the Flyers lost despite outshooting San Jose by a 34 to 21 margin. The Flyers get defenseman Mark Streit back tonight and even though Sharks leading scorer Joe Pavelski is expected to play tonight he's dealing with the flu and missed practice yesterday. San Jose has the worst penalty kill (71%) on home ice in the entire league. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Wednesday. |

12-29-15 | Ducks v. Flames -115 | Top | 1-0 | Loss | -115 | 13 h 30 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Calgary Flames Money Line -115 vs Anaheim @ 9:05 ET - Huge revenge for Calgary and the situation is perfect for the Flames to exact that revenge against the Ducks Tuesday night. The Flames were eliminated from the playoffs last spring in a 4-1 series loss to Anaheim. The Ducks also then defeated Calgary in Anaheim in late November. This is the first shot on home ice that the Flames have had against the Ducks since getting knocked out of the post-season by them in May. Look for Calgary to make the most of it. The Ducks are off of a 4-2 win over Philadelphia on Sunday but they had lost 4 of 5 coming into that match-up with the Flyers and that game was tied in the 3rd period. The Flames are off of a 5-3 win over Edmonton on Sunday and that was their 9th win in their last 11 games. That's right, Calgary has won 9 of their 11 games in the month of December. Also, in home games with a posted total of 5.5 goals this season, the Flames have gone 10-4. When off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more, Calgary is 6-3 this season. The Flames generally take care of business against weaker foes too as they have a 48-36 mark in their last 84 games against teams with a losing record. The Ducks are 0-3 this season in road games with a posted total of 5.5 goals. Also, Anaheim is 2-5 this season when off of a win by a margin of two goals or more. The losing quickly resumes for the struggling Ducks Tuesday. |
|||||||
12-29-15 | Islanders -115 v. Maple Leafs | 6-3 | Win | 100 | 11 h 31 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* NY Islanders Money Line -115 @ Toronto @ 7:05 ET - The Islanders lost 3-1 at home against the Maple Leafs on Sunday. Look for them to get revenge today. Even though Isles #1 goalie Jaroslav Halak is out, Thomas Greiss has been fantastic this season with a .934 save percentage. Conversely, the Maple Leafs goaltending situation is troublesome. Garret Sparks is out with a lower body injury and Toronto will have Jonathan Bernier between the pipes tonight. He has a .894 save percentage on the season and he also has gone 1-4 in his home starts this season. The road team has won three of the last four meetings between these teams and the Islanders penalty kill is an incredible 31 for 31 in their last 14 games. Islanders coach Jack Capuano changed up his lines in practice yesterday and I look for that to pay immediate dividends in tonight's game. By the way, the Isles are 4-1 in Tuesday games this season. The Maple Leafs have lost 5 of their 7 home games this season that had a posted total of 5.5 goals. |

12-27-15 | Flyers +135 v. Ducks | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 24 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +135 @ Anaheim @ 8 ET - The Ducks have lost four of their last five games and simply don't deserve to be in this price range as they face a Flyers team that has earned at least a point in nearly all of their games in recent weeks. Philadelphia has won 8 of their last 12 games and only 2 of those losses came in regulation. The Flyers have a very nice scheduling set up here as, even though it's a west coast trip they have two full off days after facing the Ducks and then two full off days after that game against the Sharks. That said, Philadelphia truly sees this road trip as one where there is no reason for the team not to be fully prepared for each and every game. The Flyers are a super 6-1 in road games with a posted total of 5 goals this season. In other words, Philadelphia is built well to win tough, tight, low-scoring games on the road. This certainly is a direct reflection of the fact that Philly is getting solid goaltending from both Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth. I look for that strong play between the pipes to continue on this road trip. The Ducks are 0-3 when playing with three or more days of rest this season. Also, Anaheim is 2-4 this season when they enter a game having played each of their three prior games on the road. In fact, coming off a 4 game road trip and with a 3 game road trip on deck, this is the perfect flat spot for the Ducks and the underdog Flyers take advantage. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Sunday. |

12-21-15 | Stars v. Wild -117 | Top | 6-3 | Loss | -117 | 10 h 11 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Minnesota Wild Money Line -117 vs Dallas @ 8:05 PM ET - Minnesota still hates Dallas for taking the North Stars away from them to become just the Stars many years ago. Needless to say it's added some intensity (especially from Minnesota's side) when these teams meet. The Wild have lost both games to Dallas so far this season but both defeats came in overtime and one was a rare loss on home ice for the Wild. I use the word 'rare' because the Wild had previously beaten Dallas four straight times in their match-ups in Minnesota. That said, a little revenge is on order here for Monday night and the Wild are fired up after losing the two November games to the Stars. Minnesota is coming off of a loss at Nashville but they previously had won 6 of their 8 prior games. The Stars are off of a big win over Montreal but had lost two of their three prior games and scored just 1 goal in one defeat and were shutout in the other. Dallas enters this contest having lost 39 of their last 63 games in divisional action. The Wild are 8-3 this season when playing a game with home loss revenge. No matter who starts in goal for Minnesota tonight they have been getting solid goal-tending from each of their net-minders and I look for that to continue tonight while the hungry Wild give a huge effort and take down the Stars. Play Minnesota on the money line as a *10* Top Play selection Monday. |

12-19-15 | Flyers +100 v. Blue Jackets | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 21 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +100 @ Columbus @ 7:05 ET - Even though Columbus is off of a win, the Blue Jackets had previously lost eight of their last nine games. The fact that #1 goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is out with a groin injury is a significant concern for a Columbus team that has been struggling badly this season. Columbus has allowed 5 goals in each of their last two games. Both goalies on the roster right now, Joonas Korpisalo and Curtis McElhinney, have struggled with save percentages under 90%. Conversely, the Flyers are gettting fantastic goaltending from both Steve Mason and Michal Neuvirth. Philadelphia comes into this game having won 7 of their last 10 games and they've allowed just 2.3 goals per game during this 10 game run. The Blue Jackets have given up 4.2 goals per game in their last five games. The Flyers and former Columbus goalie Mason have had struggles in games against the Blue Jackets but these are two teams now heading in opposite directions and the Flyers have also been getting much stronger play between the pipes in comparison with the Jackets. This is a classic case of HOT versus NOT and the HOT is available at a fantastic line value and playing with revenge from a 4-1 home loss to Columbus two weeks ago. Play Philadelphia on the money line as a *10* Top Play Saturday. |

12-17-15 | Canucks v. Flyers -133 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 39 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -133 vs Vancouver @ 7:05 ET - Vancouver has lost the first two games of their five game road trip by a combined score of 10 to 2. The Canucks also have a date at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on deck for tomorrow night. Vancouver has now lost 7 of their last 9 and tonight they're visiting a Philadelphia team that has won 6 of their last 9 games. The Flyers have played well in earning points in most all of their games since mid-November. Philadelphia is stressing the importance here of winning back to back home games as that is not something they've done often this season. The Canucks may be starting back-up netminder Jacob Markstrom tonight and he's won just 1 of 4 starts against the Eastern Conference this season. The Flyers will be fine whether it's their #1 guy Steve Mason, or the back-up Michal Neuvirth as the back-up is actually leading the NHL in save percentage. The Flyers are seeking revenge here for losses to the Canucks in recent meetings. That includes their first meeting in Vancouver this season which was in early November when the Flyers weren't playing nearly as well as they are currently. Look for the Canucks to drop to 2-8 on the season in road games with posted total of 5 goals or less. Play Philadelphia on the money line as a *10* Top Play Thursday. |

12-16-15 | Penguins +135 v. Bruins | 0-3 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 19 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Pittsburgh Penguins Money Line +135 @ Boston @ 8:05 ET Wednesday - The Penguins, considering it was a 4-1 loss versus Washington, seemed to "fall flat" in their first game after the coaching change. However, Pittsburgh actually skated very well in the game and got a ton of shots on goal against the Capitals. After falling short on the scoreboard in that game, look for them to bounce back huge here tonight on the road at Boston. The Pens are hungry to get their first win since the hiring and it appears Boston is over-valued here. A lot of underdog value on Pittsburgh as the Bruins have lost 4 of their last 7 games heading into this match-up and also have home loss revenge from a 2-0 loss when these teams last met in March. The Penguins are 3-1 this season when they are off of a loss by a margin of two goals or more. The Bruins, in home games with a posted total of 5 goals or less, are 3-5 this season. While Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury is out with concussion issues, the back-up Jeff Zatkoff has played well this season and the Penguins will rally around the injury to Fleury to give a strong effort for Zatkoff in front of him. Play Pittsburgh on the money line as an *8* selection Wednesday. |

12-15-15 | Hurricanes v. Flyers -109 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 48 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -110 vs Carolina @ 7:05 ET - This line has moved downward throughout the day and is offering exceptional line value. The Flyers are off of a loss at St Louis but that was a tough back to back that followed their big win over the Stars in Dallas. The Flyers, before the loss to the Blues, had earned at least a point in 6 of their last 7 games. The Hurricanes have lost 6 of their seven divisional games this season. Carolina is off of a 5-4 win at Arizona but have gone 4-9 this season when off of a non-conference game. Also, the Hurricanes are 5-13 this season when revenging a loss versus an opponent. Philadelphia already beat Carolina 3-2 in each of their first two match-ups this season. In road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less, the Hurricanes have lost 38 of their last 49 games. The Canes have been scoring very well recently and that is what has driven this line move. However, Carolina does not have a good history against the Flyers and the Canes also have been allowing a ton of goals. The Canes have given up at least 4 goals in 6 of their last 8 games. |
|||||||
12-09-15 | Bruins +125 v. Canadiens | Top | 3-1 | Win | 125 | 9 h 1 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Boston Bruins Money Line +125 @ Montreal @ 7:35 ET - The Bruins are off of a 3-2 home loss to Nashville but, prior to that, Boston had scored at least 3 goals in 8 of their last 9 games. This is in stark contrast to a Canadiens team that has scored only 2 goals per game in 5 straight games. Simply put, Montreal is having trouble finding the back of the net right now and the Habs are hosting a highly motivated Bruins team tonight. Boston just hasn't been able to get past Montreal in recent meetings but the B's did play a very strong game in their most recent match-up with the Habs. Even though they fell short on the scoreboard, that strong effort against the Canadiens on November 7th was a confidence-builder for the Bruins in terms of how they currently match up with Montreal. Although the Habs Mike Condon has played well between the pipes, he certainly is no Carey Price and Montreal's #1 netminder is now dealing with a knee injury. Look for the Bruins to be the better skating team tonight. Not only are they the hungrier team here, Boston also catches Montreal off of a long layoff as the Habs have not played since Saturday. The Bruins are 6-3 this season (and 21-10 the last 3 seasons) in road games with a posted total of 5.5 goals. I see great line value with the B's at the underdog price against their long-time hated rival. Play Boston on the money line as a *10* Top Play Wednesday. |
|||||||
12-07-15 | Predators +130 v. Bruins | Top | 3-2 | Win | 130 | 8 h 13 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Nashville Predators Money Line +130 @ Boston @ 7:05 ET - The Predators are catching Boston at the perfect time to spring the upset. The Bruins just got back from a road trip to Western Canada. Oftentimes the first game back east after a road trip out west is the toughest. Also, the Bruins haven't exactly been dominant on home ice this season. Boston has played well on the road this season but has won just 5 of their 12 home games. Nashville is coming off of back to back losses after knocking off the Coyotes 5-2 to open up the month of December. In this 3-game stretch the Predators have outshot their opponents by a 106-67 margin and I expect the Preds to start to reap the benefits of this solid play. Look for Nashville to also get a bounce back performance from Pekka Rinne who is off of a rare poor game in his last start. The last time Rinne was in goal against the Bruins it was a 3-2 Nashville win last December. Boston, based on the scheduling situation (big game at Montreal on deck too), is vulnerable tonight and the hungry Predators have been playing quite well but coming up short on the scoreboard. It sets up well for a big Nashville road win tonight. |

12-05-15 | Blue Jackets v. Flyers -119 | 4-1 | Loss | -119 | 9 h 3 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -119 vs Columbus @ 7:35 ET - Normally I would look to fade a team off of a big win and play on a team off of a tight loss. However, this is simply a case of two teams heading in opposite directions right now and I see great line value with the Flyers available at a low price on home ice. Philadelphia knocked off the Devils at New Jersey last night for their fourth straight win. The Blue Jackets lost at home against the Panthers for their third straight loss. Columbus coach John Tortorella felt his team under-estimated Florida but I don't think that's the case at all. I think the Jackets are simply just a struggling team right now that has players doubting themselves right now and squeezing the sticks a little too tight as they've struggled to score goals. Conversely, the Flyers are a confident group that has earned at least a point in 8 of their last 10 games. On home ice and laying a short price and playing with confidence against a team that is doubting themselves...the Flyers should prove to be worth the investment here. Columbus has lost 5 of 7 in back to back situations this year and the Blue Jackets have also lost 7 of their 8 games this season against teams with a losing record. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Saturday. |

12-04-15 | Sharks +110 v. Ducks | Top | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 43 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play San Jose Sharks Money Line +110 @ Anaheim @ 10:05 ET - The Sharks have outshot the Ducks by a combined margin of 75 to 44 in their two games this season and yet the season series is split because Anaheim stole one on the road in San Jose back in early November. Needless to say the Sharks have been completely outlaying the Ducks this season and San Jose is hungry and seeking revenge Friday night. Anaheim is off of a 2-1 home loss to Tampa Bay on Wednesday and has now lost five of their last seven home games. The Ducks simply have struggled to score goals this season and they're hosting a Sharks team that is an incredible 10-3 on the road and averaging 3.2 goals per game on enemy ice! By comparison, Anaheim is averaging just 2 goals per game on the season! The Ducks have won just 3 off 11 games against teams with a winning record so far this season. The Sharks are on a 10-2 run in Friday games and they are 8-1 this season in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. Play San Jose on the money line as a *10* Top Play selection Friday. |

12-04-15 | Flyers +120 v. Devils | 4-3 | Win | 120 | 9 h 44 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers +120 @ New Jersey @ 7:05 ET - This is a classic case of two teams going in opposite directions right now and I love having the Flyers at an underdog price in this divisional match-up. Philadelphia has won three straight games and their solid stretch of play goes back much further than that. The Flyers have earned at least a point in 7 of their last 9 games as they have been battling hard game after game on the ice. Additionally, Philadelphia is catching New Jersey at a good time as the Devils will be without Travis Zajac. New Jersey also is in a tough back to back spot as they were in Carolina last night and got a win over the Hurricanes. The Devils previously had lost 5 of their last 7 games and this scheduling situation clearly favors the Flyers even though New Jersey is on home ice tonight. Devils are 12-27 on Friday nights and 11-20 in the month of December. The Flyers are 7-4 this season in games against teams with a winning record and they continue to 'step it up' tonight against a big division rival who beat them badly on home ice back in late October. The Flyers are playing much better hockey right now and that will show up on the ice in New Jersey tonight. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Friday. |

12-01-15 | Flyers +140 v. Senators | 4-2 | Win | 140 | 11 h 3 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +140 @ Ottawa @ 7:35 ET - Since the Flyers made a line change to take Voracek off of the Giroux line, they have won 3 of 4. Overall the team has been playing quite well recently other than one game and, coincidentally that game was in Ottawa. The Flyers have earned at least a point in 6 of their last 8 games and they outshot the Senators by a healthy margin in their loss to the Sens about a week and a half ago. Now it's time for payback and, with the way the Flyers are playing, they have a great shot at the upset win on the road. Mason has been solid between the pipes and the Flyers confidence is rising even higher after the 3-0 shutout win over the Rangers. The Senators are sticking with Anderson in goal while Hammond is out but the Sens have allowed 11 goals in their last 3 games. In Arizona, Anderson did not play well at all and I look for the surging Flyers to take full advantage tonight. Philly has only given up 7 goals in their last 4 games. The Flyers are 3-1 this season when they enter a game on a streak of 3 or more consecutive unders as they continue to battle it out for victories in low-scoring hard-fought games. Ottawa is just 12-17 in December games the past two seasons and I see great line value here with the Flyers having a shot at shutout loss revenge. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Tuesday. |

11-30-15 | Oilers v. Maple Leafs -113 | Top | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 39 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Toronto Maple Leafs Money Line -113 vs Edmonton @ 7:35 ET - With the Maple Leafs starting a rookie goalie tonight we are getting a very favorable line. Garret Sparks will get the start and he's gone 8-2-1 with a 1.90 goals against average and a .938 save percentage with the Toronto Marlies so far this AHL season. A lot of time an entire team steps up their effort when they know they are supporting a rookie goalie between the pipes in his first ever NHL start. The Leafs have outshot their opponents in recent games and played quite well. They just can't quite get over the hump for a W and so they are very hungry for a win tonight and coach Mike Babcock is demanding a huge effort which I fully expect to see on the ice tonight. The Leafs have lost three straight but they previously had won 5 of their last 6 games and appeared to have turned the corner on their season. With a big home win tonight the Maple Leafs know they get right back on track. They catch the Oilers at a good time as Edmonton is off of a rare road win at Pittsburgh. The Oilers previously had lost 8 of their last 10 games so I see a lot of line value here with the hungry Maple Leafs offered a very small home price. Toronto is 4-2 this season against teams with a losing record and 5-2 this season against Western Conference foes. The Oilers are 1-8 this season when they are off of a non-conference game! Also, Edmonton could get caught looking ahead to being back home as this is their final game of a five game road trip and thy are 12-24 when they enter a game having played each of their three prior games on the road. From a situational perspective, this is a great spot to be backing the Leafs. Play Toronto on the money line as a *10* Top Play Monday. |

11-23-15 | Hurricanes v. Flyers -129 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 15 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line -129 vs Carolina @ 7:05 ET - Perfect set up for a dominating home win as the Hurricanes are off of a huge upset win over the Kings yesterday. So not only is this a back to back for the Canes, they also could be emotionally flat after upsetting Los Angeles yesterday. Even though Carolina lost to Philly back on November 14th, the Flyers are still likely to be the hungrier team here. Philadelphia is coming off of an embarrassing and frustrating 4-0 shutout loss at the hands of the Senators in Ottawa on Saturday. The Flyers also are now facing a Hurricanes team that did beat them the last time Philly hosted the Canes. In fact, before Philadelphia's win at Carolina on the 14th of this month, the Hurricanes had taken four straight from the Flyers. You can bet that Philly hasn't forgotten and they are hungry to get back into the win column. Even though Carolina is off of a win, they had previously lost five straight games and seven of their last eight games. Though the Hurricanes play with revenge here they are 3-9 this season when playing with revenge. Also, the Canes are a ridiculously poor 9-35 the last 3 seasons in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. Play Philadelphia on the money line as a *7* selection Monday. |

11-21-15 | Flyers +140 v. Senators | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 47 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers +140 @ Ottawa @ 7:05 ET - The Flyers have been playing quite well but coming up just short on the scoreboard. After a 3-2 win at Carolina last Saturday, this past week the Flyers lost to the Kings in the shootout after giving up the tying goal with under a minute to go in that game. Then, to the Sharks, the Flyers outshot San Jose by a significant margin but fell short when they gave up the winning goal in overtime. The point is that Philadelphia is playing quite well but coming up just short on the scoreboard. Look for the Flyers to get back in the win column Saturday as they take on a Senators team that is off of a win but that previously had lost four of their last five games. The Flyers are facing Ottawa in an 83% go against situation as the Senators have lost 5 of their 6 Saturday games this season. Philly has won 75% of their Saturday games this season as they did it again last Saturday against the Hurricanes to take their season mark to 3-1. I see great line value with the underdog Flyers here especially off of a shutout loss and catching Ottawa off of a shutout win. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Saturday. |

11-17-15 | Kings v. Flyers +135 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 3 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers +135 vs LA Kings @ 7:05 ET - The underdog Flyers battled hard in their upset win over the Hurricanes in Carolina on Saturday and I look for them to carry momentum from that victory right into this home date with the Kings. Jacob Voracek scored the game winner in overtime in that game and it was good to see him get off the schneid. That also could help trigger a decent run for the Flyers now that they have 4 of their next 6 games at home. Philadelphia has been getting strong play (at times) in between the pipes from Michal Neuvirth but it was also impressive the way Steve Mason played on Saturday. Mason stood tall against the Canes and made some huge saves in that game. The Flyers will now take advantage of a Kings team making their first big eastern road trip of the season. Philadelphia is known for somehow playing miserable against poor teams but then stepping up big and upsetting better teams. The Flyers are 4-2 already this season in games against teams with a winning record. Also, Philadelphia is 146-127 long-term in games against teams with a winning record. That record may not seem that impressive but keep in mind that this is games involving winning teams so many times the Flyers are a dog just as they are here. In this case, the home dog value with the Flyers catching the Kings on their first big eastern road swing is too good to pass up on. I look for the Kings to get caught looking ahead to their game at Joe Louis Arena with the Red Wings in Detroit on Friday. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection. |

11-14-15 | Flyers +122 v. Hurricanes | 3-2 | Win | 122 | 10 h 59 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers +122 @ Carolina @ 7:05 ET - Even though the Hurricanes have had a recent home-friendly schedule with 5 of their last 6 games at home, the Canes are struggling. Carolina has lost four of their last five games and that's why the Flyers, despite their own struggles this season, are absolutely the play here at a nice underdog price. Philadelphia is 2-1 on Saturdays this season and 28-21 in Saturday games the last 3 seasons. The Hurricanes are a ridiculously poor 13-29 on Saturday games. Carolina is also a poor 14-26 in home games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. Look for a number of Flyers to step up here as they now lost Mark Streit to injury. With Umberger also out, Philadelphia will have a number of players going strong at a high level to compensate for these absences. This often happens immediately after a key player goes down. In this case, that key player is Streit. Look for the Flyers to really kick things up a notch tonight and, just like their most recent road game (a 3-0 shutout win at Winnipeg) Philadelphia gets the job done tonight. |

11-06-15 | Red Wings v. Maple Leafs +111 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 7 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play Toronto Maple Leafs Money Line +110 vs Detroit @ 7:05 ET - This looks like a great spot for a Maple Leafs win. Toronto is starting to play better of late as it seems coach Mike Babcock finally has the attention of his players and is getting them to play better within his systems. Don't be fooled by the 4-2 final score of the Leafs loss to Winnipeg. That game was 2-2 with just a few minutes left in the game. Also, prior to that defeat, the Maple Leafs had knocked off Dallas. I like what I have seen from the Leafs in the month of November with the way they played against the Jets and Stars. Now they get a shot at revenge for an embarrassing 4-0 loss at Joe Louis Arena early this season. Coach Babcock did not yet have a handle on his team at that very early point in the season. Also, winning at The Joe in Detroit is never easy. Now, in the revenge match-up, the Leafs are at home and they are playing much better and they're hosting a Red Wings team that is dealing with quite a few injuries of late. Although Detroit is off of back to back wins they previously had lost 6 of their last 7. Of course the Maple Leafs do have an ugly record on the season - there is no hiding that - but I look at this as a statement game for Coach Babcock going against his former team and getting revenge for that early season loss. Make no mistake about it, this game is a huge one for Toronto and it is the type of game where a signature victory can turn a season around. The Red Wings are rested but are actually 13-18 when playing with two days of rest. The Maple Leafs are 100-77 in home games with a posted total of 5 goals or less and there is good value with the Leafs as an underdog in this spot. Play Toronto on the money line as a *10* Top Play Friday. |

11-05-15 | Bruins v. Capitals -139 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 41 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Washington Capitals Money Line -138 vs Boston @ 7:05 ET Thursday - This line has plummeted all morning and it is offering great value to the Capitals. So I step in here with a play on Washington. I am well aware of the fact that Boston has been playing better. However, the Caps have yet to lose two straight games this entire season and tonight they are at home hosting the Bruins and Washington is coming off of an embarrassing effort on enemy ice where they lost 5-2 to the Rangers in New York. Coming back home off of a rare loss, the Capitals are going to "bring it" tonight. The Caps have been fantastic on the penalty kill this season while the Bruins have been atrocious when it comes to killing penalties this season. The Caps are off of just their third loss of the season and the first two times they've followed it up with wins by a combined score of 6 to 2. As for the Bruins, when they have been off of a loss by a margin of two goals or more this season (as they are heading into this game) they have gone 1-2 in their next game with those two losses by a combined score of 10 to 5. I am well aware of the fact the Bruins are 5-0 on the road this season but this situation strongly favors the Capitals. Play Washington on the money line as a *7* selection Thursday. |
|||||||
11-04-15 | Blues +120 v. Blackhawks | 6-5 | Win | 120 | 11 h 56 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* St Louis Blues Money Line +127 @ Chicago @ 8:05 ET Wednesday - The Blues are off of an embarrassing home shutout at the hands of the Kings last night. The Blackhawks rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the third period to beat Los Angeles on Monday. Chicago had previously lost back to back games before winning that game despite being significantly outplayed by the Kings. I believe that is also helping to give significant line value to the Blues here because St Louis, before last night's loss, had won 7 of their last 9 games. St Louis can, and should, bounce right back here. The Blackhawks, had recently been held to just 1 goal in three straight games. The Blues had a 3 game winning streak where they allowed a total of just 3 goals before last night's loss to the Kings. I feel strongly that St Louis will shutdown the Hawks tonight and the Blues are the more motivated team after what happened last night against the Kings. That makes the underdog value even more attractive with the Blues in this spot. Play St Louis on the money line as an *8* selection. |
|||||||
11-03-15 | Flyers +118 v. Oilers | 2-4 | Loss | -100 | 12 h 52 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +118 @ Edmonton @ 9 ET - Even though the Flyers are in a back to back spot here I do see some nice underdog value with them in this particular spot. First off, Michal Neuvirth is expected to be between the pipes and he notched back to back shutouts in his first two starts of the season and I expect the Flyers to also rally around him here as he is expected to fill in for Steve Mason tonight since it's a back to back spot. Also, the Oilers are off of a big performance on offense (but fell short on the scoreboard 5-4) in their most recent game. Note that Edmonton is an awful 11-35 the last 3 seasons combined when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. Off of a divisional game (5-4 loss was to Flames) and with a more potent foe (Crosby and the Penguins) on deck I do see this as a bit of a sandwich spot for Connor McDavid and the Oilers and I expect the hungry Flyers to take advantage. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Tuesday. |
|||||||
11-03-15 | Lightning -119 v. Red Wings | 1-2 | Loss | -119 | 10 h 22 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Tamp Bay Lightning Money Line -119 @ Detroit @ 7:30 ET - Tampa Bay knocked Detroit out of the playoffs last season and the Red Wings got a measure of revenge as they knocked off the Lightning here at Joe Louis Arena back on October 13th. Now the teams are meeting again in Detroit and this time it is Tampa Bay with revenge on their minds. Considering that the Red Wings are dealing with numerous injuries plus struggling over with just 2 wins in their last 8 games, I look for the Lightning to get their revenge tonight. Tampa Bay had won 11 of the last 16 games between the teams before the loss here 3 weeks ago. Even though the Lightning have struggled early this season the Red Wings are just 2-5 against teams with a losing record so far this season. Tampa Bay already won their first game of the month on Sunday and they've gone 18-10 in November games the past three seasons combined. Also, the Lightning are 4-1 this season in games against teams with a losing record. The Lightning also are 51-31 in divisional games the past three seasons combined. Play Tampa Bay on the money line as an *8* selection Tuesday. |
|||||||
11-03-15 | Capitals +117 v. Rangers | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 53 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Washington Capitals Money Line +117 @ New York Rangers @ 7 ET - Big revenge game for the Capitals as they were ousted from the playoffs by the Rangers last spring. That revenge factor for Washington along with the stronger offense and much better power play so far this season are all keys to this play. We also get underdog line value here since the Caps are on the road. The Capitals have won 7 of their last 8 games heading into this match-up while the Rangers are just 4-4 in their last 8 games. Play Washington on the money line as an *8* selection Tuesday. |
|||||||
10-31-15 | Wild v. Blues -154 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 11 h 31 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *6* St Louis Blues Money Line -154 vs Minnesota @ 8:05 ET - An absolutely beautiful situation for the Blues. They were knocked out of the post-season by the Wild last spring. They then had to face the Wild in Minnesota earlier this season and were, of course, seeking revenge but lost a tight one. Now St Louis has the perfect opportunity to put all that behind them and get a big revenging win on home ice. The Blues are catching Minnesota in a back to back spot AND the Wild are off of a huge revenging win over the Blackhawks as Chicago is who had knocked Minny out of the post-season last spring. The Blues are well-rested here as they have played just 3 games in the past ten days. St Louis comes into this game off of back to back wins and the Blues are 7-3 this season. Also, the last 3 seasons combined, the Blues are 31-18 in home games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. Minnesota is also 7-3 this season but the Wild are an ugly 80-113 in the 2nd night of a back to back spot. Also, in the first half of a season, Minny is 19-28 in games against teams with a winning record. Play St Louis on the money line as a *6* play Saturday. |
|||||||
10-26-15 | Anaheim Ducks +145 v. Chicago Blackhawks | 0-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 25 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Anaheim Ducks +145 @ Chicago @ 8:35 ET - This is a huge revenge game for the Ducks as they were knocked out of the post-season last spring when they lost in 7 games to the Blackhawks in the Western Conference Finals. Anaheim will have the added benefit of facing Chicago without Duncan Keith. The defenseman is a core member of this hockey club but is currently out with a knee injury. Though the Hawks still have a lot of talent even without Keith this year's club is still not on par with last season's in my opinion. They also lost Patrick Sharp in the off-season too. The Blackhawks are 3-2 in their last 5 games but they've been held to one goal or less three times in those five games. As noted above, the Ducks have had trouble scoring goals all season long but I am expecting a breakout game tonight. I look for Anaheim to take advantage of the absence of Keith and I also see tremendous line value with all the added motivation that the Ducks have for this game and the fact that they are a sizable underdog. The set-up is also nice with Anaheim well-rested as they have played twice in the prior 7 days heading into this one. The road team has taken 6 of the last 10 meetings between these clubs. The Blackhawks are off of their first shutout win of the season and the past two seasons they have gone 3-7 when off of a shutout victory. The Ducks are 20-11 in road games with a posted total of 5 goals or less. Play Anaheim on the money line as an *8* selection Monday. |
|||||||
10-24-15 | NY Rangers v. Philadelphia Flyers +122 | 2-3 | Win | 122 | 12 h 52 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers +122 vs NY Rangers @ 7:05 ET - These teams hate each other and home ice has meant a lot in recent meetings between the clubs. The Flyers have won 5 of the last 7 meetings in Philly and I see great line value with them as a home dog Saturday. Note that Philadelphia has won 3 of their last 4 games. They've allowed an average of just 1.5 goals per game during this stretch. Also, the Flyers have averaged 3 goals per game in their last 3 games. On home ice this season the Flyers have allowed a TOTAL of just TWO goals in THREE games. Still riding the wave of emotion created by Wednesday's big third period comeback and overtime win, I look for the Flyers to build on that tonight. Philadelphia is hosting a division rival whom is off of back to back wins but who previously had lost three straight games. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Saturday. |
|||||||
10-21-15 | Philadelphia Flyers +145 v. Boston Bruins | 5-4 | Win | 145 | 10 h 1 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +145 @ Boston @ 8:05 ET - Already without Dennis Seidenberg (back injury) the Bruins also now may be without Joe Morrow (flu). Coming into the season these two players were projected to be among the top six defensemen on the Boston roster. Certainly the Bruins are already struggling inside their own end as they have allowed 21 goals in their first five games this season. This could spell trouble against a Flyers team this showing some life after a tough early season start. The Flyers have won two of their last three games and they got a pair of shutout wins from back-up goalie Michal Neuvirth who is likely to be in goal tonight since this is a back to back spot for Philly and Steve Mason was in goal last night. The Bruins are 0-3 at home this season and the Flyers play this game with big time revenge as they have lost all 3 games with the Bruins each of the last two seasons. Look for the Flyers to improve to 3-0 on the young season when they are off of a game where they were held to one goal or less. Even though the Bruins are well rested here it could prove to be too much rest (where rest can turn to rust!) as Boston is 6-12 the past two seasons when they enter a game with three or more days of rest between games. All in all, this is a great value spot for the Flyers as a sizable dog. Play Philadelphia on the money line as an *8* selection Wednesday. |
|||||||
10-19-15 | San Jose Sharks +120 v. NY Rangers | Top | 0-4 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 50 m | Show |
Rickenbach NHL *10* Top Play San Jose Sharks Money Line +120 @ New York Rangers @ 7:05 ET - This is a beautiful spot to grab the Sharks. San Jose used their back-up goalie for the first time this season on Saturday and the results were not pretty. The Sharks lost to the Islanders by a 6-3 score. However, their #1 netminder will be back between the pipes tonight and he helped lead San Jose to a 4-0 start to the season. The Sharks outscored the opposition 14-2 in their first four games of the season and they are poised to bounce back on Monday night. Even though San Jose has a game with the division rival Kings up next, that game is not until Thursday and the Sharks are also playing tonight's game with "double revenge" as SJ lost their two games with the Rangers last season by an ugly combined score of 7 to 1. The Rangers come into this game having lost three straight games. Also, the Rangers were in action yesterday and so it is expected that the Rangers will not have their #1 netminder between the pipes tonight. All the way around, this is a great situation for the Sharks. Play San Jose on the money line as a *10* Top Play Monday. |
|||||||
10-17-15 | Edmonton Oilers v. Calgary Flames -140 | 5-2 | Loss | -140 | 13 h 37 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Calgary Flames Money Line -140 vs Edmonton @ 10:05 ET - This is a back to back spot for the Flames. Normally that would be an unfavorable situation but I have no concern about Calgary being ready for this one. The Flames battled hard at Winnipeg last night and never trailed until the final minutes in what ended up being a tight road loss (the 3-1 final score is deceiving). Calgary now returns home and will absolutely be ready to face their provincial rival. Edmonton is paying a visit and, so far this season the fuss for the Oilers is not just about Connor McDavid, it is also about the fact that they are winless on the season. I look for them to remain that way here. Edmonton is 12-46 against divisional opponents. Also, when on a losing streak the Oilers do have a bad habit of staying down and out. Edmonton is 16-35 when they enter a game on a losing streak of 3 games or more. The Flames are a solid 24-16 when they are off of a game where they scored one goal or less. Calgary had scored 3 goals in each of their prior two games and they're taking on an Oilers team that has scored a total of just 5 goals in their 4 games this season. The Flames have won 8 of their last 10 meetings with Edmonton and they get the job done again here. They have won the last 5 match-ups by a combined score of 25 to 8 and that includes the last 3 in Calgary by an average score of 4 to 2. Play Calgary on the money line as a *7* selection Saturday. |
|||||||
10-16-15 | Calgary Flames v. Winnipeg Jets -143 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 18 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *6* Winnipeg Jets Money Line -143 vs Calgary @ 8:05 ET - Home opener for hockey hungry Winnipeg fans and they will be loud and proud tonight as they welcome back the Jets after a solid 3-1 road trip got their season off on the right foot to say the least. Tonight I expect the Jets to take advantage of a Flames team that is struggling to keep the puck out of their own net. The Flames have yet to win a game in regulation this season and they've already allowed 11 goals in just 3 games this season. Calgary has just 12 wins in their last 40 games when playing against a team with a winning record in the first half of a season. Winnipeg has won 18 of their last 28 games on Friday nights and the place is definitely going to be jumping tonight. Very loud, tough place to play for Calgary. When the Flames last visited here in April they got drilled by a 5 to 1 count. Another big effort coming from the Jets tonight. They have won 6 of their last 9 hosting the Flames. Play Winnipeg on the money line as a *6* selection Friday. |
|||||||
10-13-15 | Nashville Predators -139 v. New Jersey Devils | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Nashville Predators Money Line -140 @ New Jersey @ 7:05 ET - Devils goalie Cory Schneider is a question mark tonight because of his wife's pregnancy. Schneider missed practice yesterday. Even if he plays, he is likely to be distracted. If he doesn't play, it will likely be Keith Kincaid between the pipes for New Jersey. He struggled at Washington Saturday and the Devils dropped to 0-2 on the season. Conversely, the Predators are a red hot 2-0 on the season and they are getting fantastic goaltending. The Preds have allowed just one goal on the year so far as Pekka Rinne has been phenomenal between the pipes for Nashville. The other key for the Predators here is the fact that between the 10th and the 15th this is their only game. So Nashville has been fully focused on the Devils and fully focused on getting their 3 game road trip off to a great start. With a huge advantage between the pipes, the Predators are well worth the price on the road in this one. New Jersey is 17-40 in non-conference games and 13-25 when they are off of a game where they allowed 4 goals or more. The Devils also are 26-48 when they are playing against a team with a winning record. The Predators, in the first half of a season, are on a 25-13 run when playing a team with a losing record. Play Nashville on the money line as a *7* selection Tuesday. |
|||||||
10-12-15 | Florida Panthers v. Philadelphia Flyers -130 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 10 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Philadelphia Flyers -130 vs Florida @ 7:05 ET - Beautiful situation for a team to engage in "right back revenge". The Flyers got embarrassed in Florida Saturday when the Panthers drilled them 7 to 1. In my opinion, the Flyers were still lamenting the loss they had at Tampa Bay Thursday. The Flyers faced a tough Lightning team that night and battled hard only to lose in overtime. That seemed to leave them "spent" coming into Saturday's game where they faced the Panthers in their home opener. Now the Flyers are back home for their home opener and I expect a huge effort from them here. Look for Philly to dominate in this beautiful revenge spot. I also like the move to Michal Neuvirth as I expect this goalie change to spark the Flyers a bit for this one. In a road game with a posted total of 5.5 goals Florida has gone 14-26 the past two seasons. The Panthers also have gone 13-24 the past two seasons when they are off of a game where they scored 4 goals or more. Simply put, the Panthers have trouble "keeping their heads" after a big win and they now get drilled here on the road as the revenge-minded Flyers are fired up for their home opener. Play Philadelphia on the money line as a *7* selection Monday. |
|||||||
10-08-15 | Ottawa Senators -130 v. Buffalo Sabres | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 28 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *7* Ottawa Senators Money Line -130 @ Buffalo @ 7:05 ET - Andrew Hammond is out with a groin injury but the Senators will be just fine between the pipes with Craig Anderson getting the call. He was fantastic in the playoffs last season and had a great run to close out the regular season too. Anderson and the Senators should dominate a Sabres team that had just 23 wins in their 82 games last season. That was the lowest win total in the league. Though Buffalo will be improved this season they have a long way to go and certainly that improvement is unlikely to come early in the season. It is going to take time. As for Ottawa, the 96 goals they allowed in their 41 road games last season was the 2nd best mark in the league. Out of 30 teams in the league, only the Rangers allowed less goals on the road last season. The Senators will play another strong defensive game tonight on the road and they are fully focused on getting off to a strong start this season. Last spring the Sens finished up as the hottest team in the league heading into the post-seaoson. They know the strong play needs to start earlier this season and I expect to see that attitude paying dividends right away tonight in Buffalo. Play Ottawa on the money line as a *7* selection Thursday. |

10-07-15 | Vancouver Canucks +130 v. Calgary Flames | 5-1 | Win | 130 | 12 h 19 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *8* Vancouver Canucks Money Line +130 @ Calgary @ 10:05 ET - Big playoff revenge here for the Canucks. Goalie Ryan Miller missed much of the post-season series last year but is expected back between the pipes tonight. That is an edge over the Flames Karri Ramo in my opinion. Calgary is continuing to go with a roster of 3 goalies this season and feels that has served them well as they go to the next one whenever the current starter begins to falter. However, I feel that not having a set No. 1 netminder is not really doing the club any favors and Calgary ranked only "in the middle of the pack" last year for overall goaltending. Though the Flames did win the playoff series last spring these clubs did split the regular season series and I see good value with the hungry road dog in this one. Look for the Canucks to be bolstered by the addition of Brandon Sutter to the top line where he'll be playing with the Sedin twins, Daniel and Henrik. As for the Flames, their leading scorer in the playoff series last spring was Jiri Hudler (3 goals and 6 points) and he did not even practice yesterday as he is currently battling the flu and is listed as questionable for tonight's game. The Canucks did outshoot the Flames by a margin of 24 shots in the 6 game playoff series. In their four-game regular season series Vancouver also outshot Calgary (by a margin of 21 shots). Look for the revenge-minded Canucks to once again outplay the Flames here and, couple that with the advantage in between the pipes with Miller over Ramo, and you have the makings of a nice road upset here on opening night. Play Vancouver on the money line as an *8* selection Wednesday. |

10-07-15 | Montreal Canadiens -145 v. Toronto Maple Leafs | 3-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 15 m | Show
Rickenbach NHL *6* Montreal Canadiens Money Line -145 @ Toronto @ 7:05 ET - Montreal swept the season series with Toronto 4 games to none last season. Overall, the Canadiens have won 6 straight in this series. Though the Maple Leafs are certain to see some improvement under new head coach Mike Babcock, there are two key factors with that. One is that it will take some time as it is certainly not going to happen overnight. The second key is that the talent level just isn't there yet. Poor decisions in free agency and with past drafts have simply left Toronto's roster at, arguably, among the worst teams in the NHL. With that said, the ability to (at a fair price!) have one of the best clubs in the league (a legitimate Stanley Cup contender), against one of the league's worst clubs is something I'll grab any day of the week. The Habs are well worth the -145 price here as they, of course, also have a huge goaltending edge with Cary Price over Jonathan Bernier. Play Montreal on the money line as a *6* selection Wednesday. |
