01-02-17 | Marshall -5.5 v. Florida Atlantic | 89-72 | Win | 100 | 19 h 48 m | Show
Marshall has showed well this season in non-conference play and now in Conference USA play. The Thundering Herd trampled over competition early, winning four straight games and five of six. The Herd opened conference play with a convincing win at Florida International, 94-70. Marshall has also done well in the favorite role, covering 19 of the last 26. Florida Atlantic (FAU) didn't fare so well, opening the season with three straight losses and losing five of seven. Conference play didn't start any better, as the Owls lost at home to Western Kentucky, 69-54. In addition, the Owls have only covered three of their last 11 conference games. Marshall laying 5.5 on the road, however I don't see that as much of a challenge for the Herd. Play Marshall. |
|||||||
01-02-17 | William & Mary +3.5 v. Hofstra | 95-93 | Win | 100 | 16 h 24 m | Show
William & Mary struggled through its non-con schedule with games against powerhouses like Louisville and Duke. The Tribe did show some flashes of excellence, but those came against Savannah State, Milligan and Bridegwater. W&M opened CAA Conference play with a loss at Northeastern, 84-64. This is a tough spot for the Tribe, as they play their fourth straight road game tonight. Hofstra had a very good non-con schedule, posting a 8-5 record. The Pride opened conference play with a win at Delaware, 58-56. Not surprisingly, the home team has been the team to play in this series as they are 9-3 ATS the last 12 meetings. I'll lay the points here with HOFSTRA against a road-weary William & Mary club. |
|||||||
01-02-17 | Siena v. Canisius -2 | 79-82 | Win | 100 | 14 h 48 m | Show
Siena opens their regular Metro Atlantic Conference play tonight. The Saints did have a pair of conference foes sandwiched between their other non-conference scheduled games. They beat Fairfield and lost to Rider in those early December contests. The Saints are just 4-9 S/U and 3-4 ATS on the season. Canisius also had the same early schedule, as they beat Manhattan and lost to Monmouth. However, unlike Siena, the Golden Griffins have won five straight games and seven of eight. In addition, they have covered five straight. This series has been dominated by the home club, evidenced by a 7-3 ATS the record the last 10 games. In addition, the favorite is 22-8-1 the last 31 meetings. Very surprised at the two points Canisius is laying at home. They are the much better club and have home court in the series on their side. Play Canisius. |
|||||||
01-01-17 | UAB v. Middle Tennessee -8.5 | 49-60 | Win | 100 | 7 h 45 m | Show
Mid Tenn State (MTS) had one of its better non-conference slates in years, going a very nice 10-3 S/U and 7-4 ATS. That record included nice wins over Vandy, Mississippi and Toledo twice. MTS opens Conf USA play today with UAB. UAB was 7-6 S/U and 2-6 ATS in their non-con schedule. UAB didn't cover any of its last four games. In addition, UAB was not even competitive agains any of the big teams, losing by 36 to Texas, 20 to Kansas and 13 to St Marys. Meanwhile, the Blue Raiders have feasted on losing teams at home, going 35-14-2 ATS in their last 51 tries. MTS the much better of these clubs this season and Iook for an easy win here today. Take Middle Tenn State. |
|||||||
01-01-17 | Syracuse v. Boston College +10 | 81-96 | Win | 100 | 1 h 16 m | Show
Syracuse (8-5) heads out on the road after a home stand and the Orange are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. Boston College is home off a blowout win over Providence as a+10 dog. Play Boston College. |

12-25-16 | San Francisco +5 v. San Diego State | 48-62 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 32 m | Show
 Excellent matchup here in the Diamond Heat Classic final round as 10-2 San Francisco takes on 7-4 San Diego State. The SF Dons have won three straight and six of their last seven games including wins over Utah (as 11.5 point dog) and Illinois State (as 6.5 pt dog). This will be the final contest for San Francisco before they start West Coast Conference play on the 29th. Meanwhile, San Diego State isn't quite as good as previous editions of this team. The Aztecs have won three straight games after losing three. Most shockingly, was the Aztecs loss to Grand Canyon State, 76-72 and Chicago Illinois, 65-59. Long time Head Coach Steve Fisher has only won a single tournament in his career and that was the Rainbow Classic back in 1992 with Michigan. I think this five point line is too high for the Aztecs, which have struggled this year against far inferior teams. I'm taking the points with San Francisco here. |

12-19-16 | Cornell v. USC -21.5 | 67-79 | Loss | -110 | 20 h 53 m | Show
Ivy league rep Cornell making a big step up in class tonight as they take on a PAC-12 Power in USC. Cornell is just 2-6 S/U and 2-2 ATS on the season. The Big Red has only two big college matches under their belt, a 30 point loss at Houston and a 19 point loss at Wyoming. Meanwhile, USC is 10-0 S/U and 7-2 ATS on the season. The Trojans have rolled-over teams of this quality all season. I don't figure that to change tonight as USC should have little trouble covering the 21 points. Take USC. |
|||||||
12-19-16 | College of Charleston +5 v. LSU | 65-75 | Loss | -115 | 17 h 24 m | Show
 College of Charleston has string together five straight wins heading into tonight's contest at LSU. The Cougars are 8-3 S/U and 5-3 ATS on the season. LSU comes into this contest with a 7-2 S/U and 3-4 ATS records. LSU hasn't done well against winning teams, evidenced by their 5-13-1 ATS record the last 19 times. Both clubs have shown a propensity to underachieve this season. However, taking the dog here means we don't have to win, just cover. Play College of Charleston. |
|||||||
12-19-16 | Eastern Michigan +12 v. Syracuse | 57-105 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 14 m | Show
Eastern Michigan saw its four game win streak snapped last time out at Vermont, 82-74. EMU had won six of seven before the loss. In addition, the club is 3-1 ATS in their four posted line games and 4-1 in their last five away games. Syracuse started the season 4-0, but has lost four of their last six games. The Orangemen are also just 1-4 ATS on the season. Eastern Michigan can put up points, as the club has over 90 three times this season and over 70 seven times. With Syracuse laying double digits here, I don't see the Orange being able to score enough against a decent EMU squad. Take the points with Eastern Michigan. |

12-05-16 | Connecticut v. Syracuse -8.5 | 52-50 | Loss | -110 | 15 h 12 m | Show
Connecticut brings a 3-4 S/U and 0-5 ATS mark into this game with Syracuse from Madison Square Garden. The Huskies have struggled, losing to Wagner by nine and Northeastern by three. The Huskies were ranked 16th in the preseason polls, but that quickly changed with two losses out of the gate. It won't get any easier tonight against ranked Syracuse. The Orange are 5-2 S/U and 1-2 ATS to start the season. Syracuse plays a tough zone defense that has held opponents to just 35.4% from the field this year and 25% from the 3-point arc. The Orangemen have a lot of depth on this club and should easily handle the struggling Huskies here tonight. Play Syracuse. |

The Vikings are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Arkansas State Red Wolves are 3-0 at home this season, playing well at both ends of the floor on a 5-1 spread run. Play Arkansas State. |

11-26-16 | East Tennessee State -7.5 v. South Dakota State | 71-59 | Win | 100 | 5 h 14 m | Show
Second Round of the Sanford Pentagon Showcase from Sioux Falls, SD. This matchup has the host club taking on East Tennessee State. The ETS Buccaneers are off to a 3-1 start on the season with quality wins over Detroit and Wisconsin Milwaukee. In the opening game of this tournament, ETS beat Wisc Milwaukee easily, 86-62. South Dakota State has is just 1-5, with four of those games on the road. Their only win came against Div II Wayne State. The Jackrabbits are shooting just 36% from the field thus far. ETSU leads the nation in field goal percentage, hitting at a .661 pace. Not only is ETSU expected to finish near the top of their division, but they are also ranked 22nd in the Mid-Major polls. This is a talented ETSU squad, which can shoot lights out. They have too much here for this undermanned Jackrabbit club. Play East Tennessee St |

11-26-16 | Penn State +2.5 v. George Washington | 74-68 | Win | 100 | 6 h 9 m | Show
 Penn State already into its 7th game of the young season, with a 3-3 S/U and 2-2 ATS mark. The Nittany Lions have beaten Duquesne and then gave Duke all it could handle. PSU lost to Duke, 78-68 as a 19-point dog. With just three games left before Big 10 play, this is a critical road test for the Lions. The Lions don't start a senior on this squad and in fact look to three freshman starts and two Juniors. Meanwhile. George Washington started the season 3-0 before losing back-to-back contests in the CBE Classic to Georgia and UAB. Not much expectation for this year's edition of the Colonials, with three starters gone from last year and the team picked 8th in the conference. This game comes down to the speed and pressure of Penn State against the size of George Washington. This is an important road game for Penn State if they hope to prove worthy of moving forward. Take the visitor here in Penn State. |

11-25-16 | Gonzaga v. Florida +3 | 77-72 | Loss | -102 | 9 h 26 m | Show
Excellent 2nd round matchup here in the Advocare Invitational between Gonzaga and Florida. Gonzaga had to travel all the way across the country for this tournament, while Florida is in its own backyard. Gonzaga is 4-0 S/U and 0-1 ATS thus far. The Zags haven't played anyone of consequence yet and failed to cover the 27.5 point line in their 82-62 win over Quinnipiac last night. Florida brings a 5-0 S/U and 3-1 ATS mark into tonight's contest. The Gators have spread wins over Mercer, Belmont and Seton Hall. Gonzaga is ranked 11th in the country and have won their first four games by an average of 25.8 ppg. This will be the first big text for Gonzaga this season, while Florida can gain some national recognition with a win. I also like that Florida is close to home while Gonzaga is playing about as far away in the contiguous states. Take the points here with Florida. |

11-25-16 | Temple +13 v. West Virginia | 81-77 | Win | 100 | 2 h 16 m | Show
Temple enters today's NIT Season-Tip off winning last night's opening round contest against Florida State, 89-86. The cover makes Temple 4-0 against the spread so far this year. The Owls had to overcome an 18-point deficit in the 2nd half to beat FSU. Freshman Quinton Rose led the team with 26-points. West Virginia is 4-0 S/U and 1-0 ATS to start the season. The Mountaineers also played last night and beat Illinois, 89-57. WVU has been hitting very well from both the field and 3-point land. However, their one weakness thus far is shooting free throws, where they are just 60.4% thus far. WVU laying 13 points here and if they have trouble from the free stripe, they won't cover this big of a number. Play Temple. |
