The UNLV Rebels have been the story of the Western division in the Mountain West Conference. While they’re sitting in the middle of the pack, the division is wide open and could be taken with a big win or two down the stretch.

At the bottom of the division are the Bulldogs of Fresno State, who are in an unfamiliar position after a rough start to their 2015 season.
UNLV
The Rebels are still feeling the sting of last week’s overtime loss to San Jose State. After beating rival UN-Reno the week before, the loss couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Luckily for the Rebels, they get to play three teams sitting in the bottom of the two Mountain West divisions. This could position them for a late run at the West title – a goal they’ve had all season and felt they had a real shot at.

Despite their issues at quarterback, UNLV has managed to average 382 yards per game, mostly due in part to their strong running game.
The Rebels have 5 players over 100 yards on the ground, led by the tandem of Keith Whitely and Xzaviar Campbell. On the season, Whitely has amassed 373 yards and 2 touchdowns while Campbell has racked up 274 yards and 2 scores of his own.
Devonte Boyd is leading the Rebels in receiving with 19 catches for 331 yard and 4 scores. Kurt Palandech has been the replacement quarterback for the injured Blake
Decker and has been hit or miss for the squad. In 6 games, Palandech is 35 of 68 for 336 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.
Peni Vea is leading the team in tackles with 46, including 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, 5 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries. Ryan Mcaleenan is next with 39 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, and 3 passes defended.
Fresno State
The Bulldogs have had a turbulent 2015. After losing their second quarterback of the season to injury, the original starter, Zack Greenlee, was arrested for public drunkeness and sat against San Jose State.
The team also dismissed 2 linebackers so far this season for breaking team rules. Now sitting at 1-5, the Bulldogs are frantically searching for answers.

Quarterback Kilton Anderson is getting the nod for this one after getting reps in 2 games so far this season. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 112 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions in his spot duty in those 2 games.
Jamire Jordan is the team’s leading receiver with 21 grabs for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The offense has thrived on the running game, though, with Marteze Waller running wild for the Bulldogs this season. After a whopping 122 carries, Waller has amassed 469 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Ejiro Ederaine is leading the team with 45 tackles, 8 for loss, and 4 sacks. He’s also got an interception, 3 passes defended and a QB hit. Claudell Louis has 21 tackles, 3.5 for loss, 3 sacks, a pass defended and a fumble recovery.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Prediction
With shaky defensive units and somewhat spotty offenses, this could turn out to be a shootout in the, dare I say it, Wild West. Either team could win this one and makes for a potential high scoring game.

This one could come down to which defense can make the biggest stop. Don’t count Fresno State out, especially at home.
