This Saturday will be the first real test for the Maryland Terrapins as they head into University Park to square off against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Maryland is off to a 4-0 start this season while crushing their first Big Ten opponent of the season last week in Purdue.

Penn State was able to get a much needed win last week against Minnesota that may just have saved their season.
These two schools have only played against each other twice since 1993, but since Maryland has joined the Big Ten, this could quickly turn into one of the bigger rivalries in the Conference.
Penn State was able to win the matchup last season 31-30 after being beat 20-19 in 2014.
Penn State Nittany Lions
After being down 13-3 last week to Minnesota at the end of the first half, Quarterback Trace McSorley was able to get the Nittany Lions back into the game with a 80 yard pass to Irvin Charles.
The game went back and forth until the Penn State defense was able to tighten up and kepp the Golden Gophers in check during overtime.
Running back Saquon Barkley made a 25 yard dash to the endzone that brought the game to an end and allowed head coach James Franklin to exhale a sigh of relief.

Penn State’s defense continued to struggle last week against an average team at best, giving up a total of 469 yards, 228 of which came on the ground.
The defense will need as much help as they can get this week from McSorley who has 1,284 passing yards on the season with six touchdowns and three interceptions.
Maryland Terrapins
The Terps dominated the Purdue Boilermakers defense last week by gaining over 400 yards on the ground and should have no problem putting up big rushing numbers again this week.
Sophomore running back Ty Johnson led the ground arsenal last week for Maryland, gaining 204 yards and finding the endzone twice on just seven carries.
The Terrapins were able to use eight different running backs in order to keep things exciting in the blow out.

Maryland’s defense brought the Purdue ground attack to a halt, only giving up 10 rushing yards on 27 attempts.
The defense will be key again this week against Penn State.
Maryland comes into this game ranked 7th in the country with an average of 300 rushing yards per game, while only averaging 166.2 yards through the air.
While on paper this looks one sided, there has yet to be a team that can stop the Terrapins from winning.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
- Maryland is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven Big Ten matchups.
- The Nittany Lions have a record of 1-7-1 against the spread in their last nine games.
- Penn State is 0-4-1 against the spread in their last 5 conference games.
Free Week 6 NCAA Football Prediction
Penn State was barely able to come up with the win against Minnesota and their defense didn’t have any kind of answer until the game reached overtime.
With all of the injuries on defense, this week could be a field day for Maryland when the offense has the ball.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Maryland +2.5
The Terrapins should have no problem controlling both the field and the clock from start to finish in this one.
Penn State will not be able to afford any turnovers on offense against a defense that was stingy last week against Purdue.
I look for Maryland to have another huge day running the ball against a Penn State Defense that has already been giving up 216 yards per game. Maryland will put up enough points to make the over a solid pick in this one.
