This ACC rivalry game has College Football Playoff implications, but it isn’t for the Seminoles.
Florida State comes in after a tough loss to North Carolina at home, while Miami is still undefeated and beat a good Georgia Tech team.
I’m expecting another classic in this long time college football rivalry and if either team built up a two touchdown lead in this game I would be very surprised.
Florida State Seminoles
The Seminoles passing game got a lot of yardage last week, but it didn’t result in touchdowns.
Deondre Francois had over 370 yards passing, but no touchdowns and zero interceptions. If the Seminoles are going to win this game he needs to go toe to toe with NFL draft candidate Brad Kaaya.
I expect him to step up to the challenge and get 2 touchdown passes this week.
Dalvin Cook is one of the best players in the country and he had his second straight huge game last week.
After running for 276 yards and 2 scores against South Florida, Cook followed that up with 140 yards rushing and 3 scores. He also caught 6 passes for 106 yards.
He can do everything asked for from an offensive coordinator. Against the Hurricanes defense look for him to put on another fantastic display, reaching 200 total yards and 3 scores.
Jesus Wilson dominated the Tar Heel secondary last week. He had 6 grabs for 120 yards and along cqatch of 34 yards. This week look for him to get a touchdown grab and reach the 100 yard mark again.
The Florida State defense gave up 400 yards passing to the Tar Heels last week.
This week Brad Kaaya is going up against this secondary that needs to tighten up its coverage assignments and try to force pressure with the defensive line.
This is a statement game for the Hurricanes.
While the Seminoles already have 2 losses , they are still a quality opponent. If Miami can secure this victory it should push them into the top 8 of the AP rankings.
Quarterback Brad Kaaya had a pretty good game against Georgia Tech last week. The # 1 pick candidate threw for 241 yards and a score.
He will have a lot of time to throw the ball in this game and I don’t see the Hurricanes offensive line giving up any sacks.
Against the Seminoles secondary look for him to throw for 300 yards and 3 scores.
Running back Mark Walton started the season off with 3 straight games rushing for 100 yards or more, but last week against the Yellow Jackets he was only able to get 44 yards on 13 carries.
Look for Mark Richt to give him the ball early to set the tone of the game, and he should reach the 100 yard mark this game.
Joseph Yearby is another key player in the backfield, he had 65 yards on the ground last week and I think he can reach 75 yards this week against a Seminoles defensive line that hasn’t been able to stop the run.
Stacy Coley has been a very consistent passing threat the last two weeks.
He has scored in each game and had over 75 yards receiving as well. This week with Brad Kaaya expected to have a big game look for him to reach the 100 yard mark and grab two touchdowns in the red zone.
The Hurricanes defense did a good job against the offense Georgia Tech has be known for under the Paul Johnson era.
The passing game didn’t do much against the Hurricanes defense and I expect the secondary to step up again this week.

The Hurricanes continue their hot streak to start the season and go to 5-0 as Florida State’s defense cannot slow down Brad Kaaya and the passing game.

The Seminoles need a late drive to win the game, but fall just short in the tight shootout.
