In this matchup, we’ll get an early look at two teams who believe they could be in the College Football Playoff this winter and have backed it up with their play thus far.
While Florida State was tested in their opener against Ole Miss, Louisville has completely dominated their two weak opponents led by their quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Florida State Seminoles
It was expected that Florida State would have a strong Heisman candidate early in the season. However, it wasn’t expected that they would have two.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois has joined running back Dalvin Cook on the Heisman radar.
Francois’s gutsy comeback against Ole Miss to top off College Football’s opening weekend immediately put him on the map.
The backfield combination of Francois and Cook has looked to be one of the best in the country through 2 weeks of the season – combining for 1021 yards and 7 total touchdowns.
The Louisville front 7 will put them through a similar test that they faced in Ole Miss in Week 1.

Their opening matchup with Ole Miss was basically a home game as the game was played in Orlando, Florida. Travelling to Louisville for the Seminoles first road game of the year should present a new set of challenges.
The Seminoles’ upcoming challenge rolled through their first two opponents and now has their eyes on the ACC crown.
Florida State will look to stop Cardinal quarterback Lamar Jackson from his third straight record-setting performance.
They will face a similar passing threat to Chad Kelly as Jackson has thrown for 697 yards and 7 touchdowns through 2 games.
But, Jackson can also run it – having 318 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns through his first two games.
Jackson will be a huge test for this Seminole defense as they will have to spy him all game long but also cover down the field as Jackson averages 11.2 yards per attempt through the air.
Louisville Cardinals
Louisville has yet to be tested even slightly so welcoming one of the top teams and most renowned teams historically will be a big wakeup call.
It was mentioned after Jackson’s record setting performance in Week 1 that many Cardinals coaches didn’t even congratulate him. Petrino’s tallest task in this young season is keeping his team focused and grounded.
It looked that way this past week though against Syracuse as Jackson and the offense responded to their historic offensive performance with humility.
On each of Jackson’s 4 rushing touchdowns, he could be seen scoring, leaving the ball in the end zone, and jogging back
to the bench without breaking stride.
He hardly celebrated – regardless of his ACC record 610 total yards; almost as if he was already mentally preparing for Florida State.

Petrino has enough coaching experience to not let his guys get caught up in these first two victories over Charlotte and Syracuse.
Jackson has emerged as a star for Louisville and his humility last Friday night made it clear he is also aware they haven’t accomplished anything yet.
The Louisville defense will have to contain Cook and Francois in order to relieve all of the pressure from Jackson to dominate a much stronger Seminole defense than the Charlotte and Syracuse ones that Louisville has faced thus far.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 3 NCAA Football Prediction
I think both teams have formidable front sevens on defense that could put each quarterback under some pressure. However, neither team will expect to win this game defensively.
The points should get going early and this one could turn into a shootout.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Game total Over 65.5
I am looking forward to Francois and Jackson dueling back and forth as each tries to one up the other. Cook will provide the difference in this one though as Florida State should steal this one in a high scoring affair.
